    My five pleasures for Friday:

    1. Went to see my parents for lunch and to talk about some work I'm doing. My mum cooked us a very good smoked haddock chowder followed by stewed summer fruits from her freezer with creme fraiche. Much better meal than the one we would have had if we'd stayed at home!

2 Hearing more about our family history - we are all unpicking bits of the family tree - good fun, exciting, evocative and sad in equal measures.

    3. Topping up the store cupboard with bits and pieces as I see them - today I got more washing powder and, because I'm using lots for the workshops I'm doing, also got 8 gluesticks for £1.

    4. I decluttered a load of old receipts the other day and found a November 2008 voucher from Mr Ts (still valid) which was worth 200 points. I found a receipt that showed I'd made the purchase that it was linked with. I took everything into customer services and they put the points on my card tonight. More money off the next OU course!

    5. Catching up on tonight's Archers (confession time :o ) on iplayer with a hot drink and snuggled in my huge woollen cardy.

    Sleep well everyone.
  • Eating my packed lunch at work lovingly made by DH: parsnip soup from the Jamie cookbook (my present to DH for Christmas because it has boys' food in it), sandwiches with HM bread (half and half wholemeal) from the panny and boiled chicken from making broth.
Getting my 50p seeds in the post from AlanRoman.com
Being snuggled on the sofa by my funny, dear old kitty cat

    Yesterday's OS pleasures:

    1. Reading the OS threads in bed on the laptop until 10:30 am (well it was my day off :D )

    2. Baking some Italian flatbread and portioning it up for the freezer - we'll have lovely HM italian bread with our packed lunch soups all next week.

    3. Holding OH's hand across the gap between the two sofa's as we watched TV, both of us snuggled between quilts.

    4. Watching the wild birds feeding just outside our living room window.

    5. Making Gingham Ribbons Cabbage Galette ready for lunch today :D
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D
  • My pleasures in my very busy Friday are:-

    1. Free (from a magazine) seed potatoes arriving in the post.

    2. Spring is in the air. Swapping thick winter tights for thinner ones and hoping I'm not too soon.

    3. Baking, bread, coffee cake, and almond tarts.

    4. Sitting down for 10 minutes while I ate my sprouting salad - that was my one sit down all day (until 6-30) so it was precious.

    5. Watching Victorian Farm on Iplayer

Could you give us the recipe please apple_mint? I assume you are talking about something I call "pizza bianca", it is a sort of thick pizza with granules of salt on top - is that what you made? Even if something different, I would love to know how to make it! Thank you.

Early today to put my five but here they are for the time being:

1 - An almost continuous sleep last night, very little pain YIPPEE!!!

2 - Porridge and tea in bed courtesy of DH

3 - Just ordered a vine plant for a friend's birthday to be delivered at her home - not OS, it cost me a bl**dy fortune esp. the postage (!!!) but it is good to get something nice that a friend really wants.

4 - A lovely cuddle with one of my cats.

5 - Planning a shopping trip to the market with my trolley, hope to find cooking apples and rhubarb, to make stew with custart tonight!

    Have a good day everyone!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Hoping everybody is having a trouble-free weekend

    Saturday blessings...

    1. DGD2 and I went to see The Secret of Moonacre this afternoon, the cashier didn't believe me at first when I asked for a pensioners ticket. Must be the free sample of Olay I got this morning!:rotfl:

    2. It was a beautifully sunny day, the first really mild one this year and I didn't need to turn the lights on til after 5 o'clock

    3. Dinner was last night's Chinese with a few additives to make it stretch further, it was easily as good as the original meal

    4. Made the decision to push the HO to update my kitchen as I'm having to store food in the spare berdrom through lack of cupboard space. Really enjoying myself gathering colour charts/fabric swatches/unit styles together but it's such a difficult choice as I like them all!

    5. Kings of Cool on television - love the rat pack and all of their music. A lovely end to a really good day :D

    Here's my five for Saturday:

    1. Despite the fact that our back garden snow still hasn't melted, getting a lot of washing dried outdoors in the winter sunshine.

    2. Having a long afternoon nap on the sofa curled up next to DS1 who was watching the rugby (and kept my toes warm the whole way through the first match!)

    3. Sharing, with DS2, the last can of ginger beer which had been lurking in our store cupboard. (We haven't got our HM ginger beer to work yet so I'm counting the fact that this can had come out of our stores and was shared as very OS  )

    4. Asking for help on these boards about ideas for a replacement food flask (since mine doesn't want to keep food hot for long enough) and getting some really useful replies very quickly. It's like having a personal, but free, 'Which' magazine at one's disposal - so helpful. If I have to spend money I can at least spend it wisely like this.

    5. Decluttering yet more paperwork.

    Sleep well.

    Blessings for Friday and Saturday:

    1. DS2 and g/f visited with dgs2(7yrs) and dgs3(6mths) for a couple of hours. Dgs3 had been to the hospital and has been confirmed as cow's milk/lactose intolerant - same as dgd2(15mths) who had hers confirmed at 2mths. Smarty-pants Narnie (me) had been saying it for ages - once you've experienced those nappies there is no doubt in your mind at all:rolleyes:! At least they now know what they are dealing with, though we've all got pretty used to dealing with Caitlin.
    2. Visiting DD Friday evening and looking after dgs1(7yrs) and dgd3 for a couple of hours while she went to spend time with her friends - recently bin-bagged her b/f! They had a sort of 'sleepover' but for 20+'s. Daughter returned around 1.30am wearing pj's, silly slippers, hair in braids and pigtails, OTT makeup that they had done on each other and had danced themselves silly for about 4 hours. Think it did them all good - I know my daughter enjoyed herself.
    3. Met with DM(mum) and treated her to lunch and Bingo for her birthday. Not at all money-saving as it cost around £20 each for Bingo - BUT she was on fine form. She won £100, £40, £20 and £5! I felt sooooooo embarassed cos she shared with me :o.
    4. Straight to Asda from Bingo for a whoopsie hunt. Packs of 500g minced beef for less than half price - got two of them and divided into 250g amounts and froze them. Also some nice ham and roast beef and pizzas at silly prices :D.
    5. Got some reduced price edible cake decorations. Need to make a birthday cake for DS1's g/f's son who will be 4 next week. Also got him a 'Cars' toy reduced in price for a pressie with top and trousers. It can be hard knowing what to get for him. Don't want to try to outdo her mum BUT for DS1's sake, I want to treat him similar to how I treat my own dgk's. Fingers crossed .............
    6. Veggies (carrots, onions, leeks, swede, parsnip, potatoes) all prepped and soup/broth mix is soaking. Pan of Scouse going in the SC for evening meal tomorrow - may, or may not add dumplings depending on how we feel.

Can't believe how late it is while I've been doing this. Need to get off for some zzzzzzzzz's. Needless to say, I won't be up and about early in the morning :D.

Hope everybody is feeling good and well and here's some ((((((HUGS)))))) for anybody who needs them .

    Nitey nite - God Bless!!!!!
