Five OS Pleasures in your day today

Hugs to all in need of one today - that's just about all of us lol
Wednesday blessings...
1. A long lay-in this morning after a busy night on phone duty for a national org, then being asked to do an extra duty tomorrow - I'm always happy to be asked as it means I can give something back
2. a free packet of latte in the post this morning - never had it before and am always willing to try something (free) new
3. The snow has gone from my garden, leaving it looking a sorry sight, but it'll no doubt soon recover. Strange though that my shed roof is the only one, in all the gardens that I can see, still covered in snow
4. The Easter eggs I bought on Monday have been moved from room to room in an attempt to find them a home until I give them to DGC, and in the end my quality control head took over and I just had to test one  . The rest are now safely stored in a plastic sack in the shed!
5. Mr A pizza and home made wedgies for tea. I steam them then put them on an oven tray, toss in oil and sprinkle with an Oxo cube, makes then really yummy0 -
Busy day for me yesterday (both work AND play!). Hope everybody is well.
Thanks for the 'reminder' of haggis, sparrer - just dug mine out of the depths of the freezer for this evening. Not had any since last year's Scottish holiday.
laineyc - what's Bangbang chicken, please? You got me intrigued now - would love to have the recipe if you don't mind.
Congratulations, shopndrop, on getting your oh trained up - makes such a difference when they can cook for YOU. Which reminds me that my OH hasn't exercised HIS culinary skills for a while, hmmmmm.
1. Yet another home-made Lemon Drizzle Cake - these disappear so quickly in this house. Don't think I've ever bought so many lemons!!
2. Experimented with a Mincemeat Cake recipe. Absolutely delicious BUT a huge chunk got stuck in the silicon loaf bakeware. I'm getting more and more disillusioned with the whole silicon thing. May need to line the base of mine as it has a 'wavy ridged bottom' (a bit like me). Finally had some with custard for afters
.
3. Home-made Leek and Potato Soup (from freezer) with crusty bread for lunch.
4. Jacket spuds for evening meal (OH had l/o chilli minced pork/veg from freezer) and I had cottage cheese with a bit of Red Leicester grated into it for extra flavour.
5. Seeing a change in my Tiggy-tiger recently. Last weekend we really thought we were going to lose him BUT for the past two days he was been back to his whiney, food-demanding ways. Every time he hears a cupboard door opening he's got his head in it to see if it's HIS cupboard and curling himself around our legs crying and looking up. Fingers crossed that he's getting over whatever it's been that caused his health issues. Personally I think he caught (and perhaps ate) a poisoned mouse (or baby rat).
For all of you still affected by snow, I hope it all clears slowly enough for you not to get flood problems. The weather here is much milder than a couple of weeks ago - no icy mornings for a couple of weeks now STILL very cold though.0 -

Olliebeak - my lot love lemon drizzle cake as well. One of my most asked for cakes and easy to make.
Re your cake sticking in loaf tin. I use Lakeland loaf tin liners and they are brilliant. Think they are in sets of 40 and are re-usuable. Much easier than greasing and faffing about with greaseproof paper

My Wednesday pleasures were:-
1. Trying on some of last summers clothes and finding they still fit:T so I've not accumulated as much winter podge as I had feared.
2. Turning the heating off and opening the windows to air the house. Cold but healthy.
3. Keeping warm with no heat in my dining room except the sun coming through the window:T
4. Finishing sewing the skirt I have made with £3 of material bought from the market:j
5. Resolving to spend less time on here and more time knitting.
I'm off now to find my pleasures for today.

Obviously I want to use the stff she's worn/is special or it defeats the whole 'keepsake' aspect...but it's too precious! Maybe I'll wait a bit longer
heidi, when my mum moved house i was helping her sort and unpack and she still has my cot blanket, a sleeping bag things from my moses basket and her favourite of my babygros. I will be 30 this year....:DWhatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!'0 -
I love the idea of a keepsake blanket - if only I'd thought of it! Must be dim
Anyway, here are mine
1) Taking some cardboard boxes to a fellow freecycler - she was so nice and so grateful it made it feel well worth while
2) Taking some rubbish to the tip - having first trawled through it for anything at all reusable. Should have tipped it in and saved the bags though. I'll remember next time
3) Coffee with DH this afternoon
4) DH putting locks on bathroom doors this evening. Fairly essential when there are guests!
5) Friends around for supper tomorrow and half the meal is prepared. Our New Year's Resolution is to forget about the bare plaster and be more sociable0 -
My five for Thursday:
1. Having a letter back from the people who should be reimbursing me for the royalty payments they have been holding for me to say that I should get the cheque in March.
2. Running a fun, making-things session for a very big group of parents and children today. It was lovely watching people grab ideas and run with them and I had some really good conversations with various children who wanted to share their creations with me.
3. I'm not a competitions person really, especially because I don't usually want or need the things that are being given as prizes, but I've just seen one today for book tokens and tickets to a major local event that I'd love to go to and have completed my entry to post tomorrow.
4. Watching Victorian Farm again. That straw hat was just wonderful I want to make one for the summer! Where do you get free untreated straw from in February?:D
5. Veggie stirfry with noodles and omelette strips for supper.
Sweet dreams.0 -
Olliebeak your sig has always made me smile - when you find the button please let me know where it is! Wishing everybody well..
Thursday blessings...
1. Went to Mr A this morning to buy a couple more £1 Easter eggs and at least 4 check-outs had no queue  ..have to repeat as I find it difficult to believe even now - no queue!
2. It snowed like mad this afternoon/evening, had about 2" but now it's raining and the snow is almost gone again - thank goodness . Freaky weather...
3. Sat with neighbours 9 y/o DD for an hour or so this evening while she went out. We always have OS fun as her imagination is as vivid as mine so we fly to the roof, dig to Oz, crawl through mouse doors in the skirting boards and so on, with not an electronic game in sight
4. 87 y/o DM had a battery of tests over the past couple of weeks as she's been a bit short of breath, and has been pronounced fitter than the GP, radiologist, asthma nurse etc etc..just needs to lose a little weight so she's off to her swimming class again. Puts me to shame
5. Everybody was out this evening so my supper was a banana, a satsuma and an apple (latter shared with the mutt). I was doing alright til I remembered the hm bread and YS Brie in the fridge. Reduced fat Brie though so that was alright, wasn't it? :rotfl:0
