    Hi all

Been away, overdone it and pain in the arm came back with a vengeance, especially yesterday, walking in the cold and rain. But today I am better again - should not type but could not stay away!

Raggydoll, there are no words for the loss you suffered (((HUGS))) you are amazing to be able to find gratefulness and pleasures in such sad times, I really admire you.

Olliebeak, sorry to hear about your old lady, may she rest in peace.

Big hugs and thoughts to all who are unwell and suffering, especially people in Australia.

I have sooo many pleasures accumulated since Sunday when I went away with DH for his birthday celebration, we went to Bath and had a fav time (except for the pain in my arm - but hey, for the most part it was GREAT!).

Anwyay, just putting the ones for today:

1 - Free acupuncture at the acupuncture student clinic, really helped with the pain!

2 - Cheap meal at Morrisons, child portion of fish fingers, mash and peas and a nice apple cake. Child food came with a drink (which I turned down) and a little chocolate (which I accepted and then passed to a lady who had a child with her).

3 - Chairty shop finds: virtually new laptop case for £5 which I hope to sell for a lot more, and 3 LPs for DS who now has a turntable player.

4 - Cheap ciabatta rolls at the Co-op

5 - About to make a nice pot of tea and enjoy a hot drink and a read of my magazine.

    Love to all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Hi chaps, here are mine for the start of the week

    1) Putting a friend whose daughter is having a baby in touch with another friend whose daughter is getting rid of some baby clothes
    2) Calling in for coffee with an old friend on the way home from work - saves us a journey on another day - I am starting to think about petrol
    3) Planning a day out with DS and DD in half term. This is so rare now they are older.
    4) HM soup and banana custard for tea!

Love to all who are going through problems.
    My 5 os
    1. called into Asda at 8pm last night as had no grapes for youngests lunch box (only blinking fruit I can get down him) couldn't believe the "whoops" bargains. Got loads of fruit, prepared veg and barms reduced to about 90% off.
    2. Although I am tired have prepared lamb casserole for tomorrows evening meal while cooking meal this evening.
    3. Froze breast and a half of a whole cooked chicken to make pasta bake with bacon and cream later in the week. Would normally have just used it all for one meal.
    4. Used some of my "whoops" asda prepared fruit to make fruit salad with ice cream that has been in freezer since Christmas
    5. Got rid of two big bin bags of clothes to Charity Shop that have been in dining room for at least a fortnight. Treated myself to two books from Charity shop. They do have some good ones. Will give them back when read.

Am just debating whether to go to gym (it's open until 10pm) It's 50/50.

Today's been a bit better for our little community - most people have now come to terms with what happened to their friend. Will need to start collecting for flowers tomorrow.

Thank you for your kind words, Caterina. Sorry to hear about your shoulder again, but good to hear that you enjoyed your weekend away :D.

((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) to all who are struggling to find blessings for whatever reason.

    1. Not really OS BUT, I have been approached by local Trading Standards Department who want to talk about how frauds/scams affect older people, especially those so-called 'prize draws'. These have been a real problem for us, so I'm looking forward to this new contact.
    2. Have been invited to an Attendance Award ceremony for work. 5 yrs without a day off sick - so due for a 'nice little earner' from our Chief Exec. Only in the form of vouchers - but they are very widely accepted for all kinds of things :D.
    3. Home-made Lentil, Pea and Ham Soup with crusty bread for lunch today. OH said we're going to turn into lentils one of these days ;)!
    4. Visited DD and dgk's this evening. She 'bin-bagged' her OH about three weeks ago and it's good to see her getting back on her feet again. We had to try to bite our lips while talking about him in front of the kids :silenced:.
    5. Baked Beans and poached eggs on toast for evening meal.

Oh dear - all those lentils, peas, baked beans all in one day AND I had porridge for breakfast too :o!

    Hello!

Well. Im new to all this moneysaving business. The past few days were good! After reading so much of this site, i decided i wanted a breadmaker. Requested one on freecyle and should be getting it tomorrow! Not sure make etc.

I went to tesco tonight to get flours etc and as they didnt have yeast i got an "all in one " crusty loaf. 500g 63p. Made half up and have some lovely little rolls ive just tasted. YUM! My first ever time making bread. I didnt know how to knead so had to look it up on youtube (sad eh!)

Also managed to get tesco guacamole for 1p so got two and a bag of value tortillas to take to work tomorrow.

Well pleased for myself. Hopefully breadmaker bread is even better. Saved me a fortune buying that mix. How do people not think of these things.

My mind is always thinking what can i make next? how do you make chutney?

Planted some home grown herbs too, so waiting them to sprout like an excited child going to see if santa has been:o

Also made my first ever left over dinner. Tagine juices in slow cooker with stock, turned it into canneline bean stoop (cross between soup and stew). Thickened it up with smash so nice thick consistency.

I also baked some ripe bananase.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

    Here's my five for Tuesday:

    1. Veggiebox arrived and this week's carrots taste particularly good.

    2. DS1 made supper. It was very simple veggie sausages and veg but the colours were lovely and he laid it out on our plates beautifully.

    3. Bought a newspaper and made time to read it - not particularly OS but at least it can be recycled and it's the first national newspaper I've bought this year (can't afford them any more). It's nice when something like this becomes a treat because it is no longer the norm.

    4. Our back garden is still a pristine blanket of untouched snow whereas everywhere else is a mixture of grey ice and slush. I am so grateful that we have that newly laid lawn that can't be walked on!

    5. I've stayed up late to get the loaf out of the BM - it's just done and I'll go to sleep breathing in the smell of fresh bread.

    Sweet dreams.

Pleased you enjoyed the weekend Caterina, hope your shoulder gets better soon. Ollibeak pleased to hear that things are settling down, its awful for older people to lose their friends as I know from my many years of working with them.
    Thoughts and wishes to everyone...

    Tuesday blessings...

    1. It was snowing hard here at 2am but when I got up it had almost disappeared. Its still very cold though, so perhaps another £25 for us old 'uns. I plan to use it for what it's intended, I'm not getting cold for anyone!

    2. My neighbours have just got a dear little Staffie pup, every time she goes out my lad has to go out too and they're having great fun getting to know each other through the fencing

    3. My friend in NZ has heard from her family near Melbourne, they're safe and not near the fires, thank God

    4. Haggis, which DS brought back from his Scotland weekend, with neeps for dinner...yummy :D

    5. Bought myself a pair of moccasin slippers in Mr A yesterday, I usually wear open backed ones and have noticed a tremendous difference in warmth..and they were reduced 50% so a double bonus :j

Mine for the last few days.

    1. Got £20 vouchers from Shop & Scan for Debenhams so managed to use them with the 20% Daily Mail voucher from last week so managed to get £25 of goods for "free".

    2. Had to cancel my birthday weekend away in the South West due to the snow. We couldn't have got to their house as the roads hadn't been cleared but OH cooked me a birthday meal which was mostly OS. He had a look at our freezer list and managed to use ingredients we already had apart from a couple of items. This meant so much to me because of the effort he had put in (also this time last year he wouldn't have been able to do more than beans on toast).

    3. Finished updating my dad's kitchen with new cupboard doors and handles. Looks fantastic and we managed to get the doors in B&Q's sale.

    4. Still not really bought any food other than veg as using up freezer contents. Amazed at how many meals we have had without me realising what was actually in the freezer.

    5. Wanted to buy a book for a present which was £20 in the high street but found it online for £7.
