    Saturday blessings...

    1. The sniffle which threatened to turn into a cold has gone away - I dread everytime it happens as it means yet another course of anti-b's and steroids, and one day they'll say they can't keep giving them to me. However, no infection/cold this time, thank heavens :j

    2. DS phoned from where he and his gf have gone for the weekend. They went out to dinner, he proposed in the restaurant, and she said yes (so I should think!:D)

    3. Had a tasty lunch of yesterdays veggies in gravy fron the casserole followed by a slice of hm bread with Mr A's apricot and peach jam. It was so yummy I could have had more but managed to restrain myself...with great difficulty :rotfl:

    4. Postie brought me a sample pack of facial wipes and a little bottle of Dove moisturiser, both thanks to the Freebies board. I keep this sort of thing and all the little samples/sachets/perfumes vials I get, and put them in the envelope with b/day cards, it makes a nice little extra surprise.

    5. She also brought me £30 M&S vouchers for taking out a policy, I never go to M&S as it's too far away so they're in the Christmas pressie box

To be honest today I can't face listing 5 so I will just list one and that is that all my family is alive and safe. I live in Victoria Australia and we have been experiencing the most horrific bushfires. The current death toll is 84 and they think it will increase. I feel quite numb, entire townships have been burnt to the ground. I am not a religious person but I have been praying for all those that have been affected and although I am not in a good financial situation I will find some money to give to the appeal. I have already put my name on a list to volunteer but they have been inundated by people wanting to help. I hope everyone is safe and well, give your loved ones an extra special hug.

Really puts everything else in life into perspective!

    1. Quiet Sunday morning and chatting to some lovely Scottish friends on-line :D.
    2. Ordered a book I've been looking for from Amazon - £1.47 plus delivery charge :j.
    3. Whoopsie rump steak for evening meal today with broccoli, steamed chunky carrots and onion mash .
    4. My Tiggy-tiger has actually eaten today (and kept it down - sorry if that's tmi for some people :() for the first time in 48hrs. We've been very worried about him.
    5. Managed to do three loads of laundry - but need to dry indoors as we now have snow again!
    6. Think I'll have to go and make some Twinks - I've now got an empty 'goodie tin' and will feel guilty if any of the dk's or dgk's turn up and there's nothing in it :o.
  • Today's OS pleasures:

    1. Homemade pancakes (drop scones) with syrup for breakfast.
    2. Venison bubbling away in some leftover wine in the slow cooker - one portion for a pie for dinner tonight and portion for the freezer.
    3. Homemade french bread pizzas for lunch cooked in the remoska - usng up a leftover homemade baguette from yesterday and some leftover mozzerala! They were delicious.:D
    4. Finding a yellow bin full of rock salt not far from our cottage and finally de-icing the ice-skating rink outside our house! I was thinking I'd have to buy some rock salt from somewhere.
    5. Trying to decide what to make for pudding tonight - homemade syrup sponge or a rhubarb crumble (last from our crop of rhubarb from the freezer)? Decisions, decisions! Whatever I decide on, it will be served with lashings of custard!:j

  • HI everyone
Have been off line for the past few days, computer glitch now sorted.
    My top five are

    1. Playing in the waves with 3 year old dgs, listening to his shrieks of laughter each time a wave came in over his ankles.

    2. OH has had his first day free of pain since mid December.

    3. Celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary with a romantic dinner at a restaurant, and OH saying he liked my cooking more, bless him.

    4. Arsonist set fire to some scrub, everything is tinder dry here, but our wonderful volunteer fire brigade from the village soon had it under control (although they needed to get the fire engine from the next village to help). After watching the bush fires in Australia, I feel blessed that our one did not do too much damage.

    5. Blackberrying with DGS and then making some blackberry muffins for him.

    Blessings be
    Jennie

    6. settled in for the evening with my lovely OH, cosy and warm in front of the T,V
