Caterina - so glad you are on the mend. Hope everyone else is getting better too.

    My five pleasures for Friday:

    1. I spent the day indoors with the thermostat up and feel much better. I have to be well enough to drive to an event tomorrow. The heating can go back to normal then!

    2. Lots of creative writing and ideas-generating work.

    3. Admiring Day 2's results of the igloo building.

    4. Listening to my children's reports of conversations they've had with people in the street. It's been especially friendly over the last few days.

    5. Cooking up a lot of veggiebox food: enough veg mince for tonight's shepherd's pie and for pasta with bol.sauce for DS1's packed lunch tomorrow and another meal's worth left over to freeze; enough mash for tonight's shepherd's pie, tomorrow night's fish cakes and some to freeze; half a stockpot of leek and potato soup for my packed lunch tomorrow and lots to freeze. Plus made bread.

    Sleep well.
  • Well I'm still awake - just

    Here were mine today

    1) Spending the day sewing for a friend's baby
    2) Having a plate full of hm cakes on the table at tea time
    3) Burning some of the wood we found in the loft (along with the interesting shag pile carpet and other random leavings from previous occupants. The headboard was interesting)
    4) Looking forward to a lie-in tomorrow morning

    Have a restful weekend

Feeling a lot better today, I think the sniffles were just teasing...or perhaps I'd been brushing the pets too vigorously and the fur tickled my nose! Wishing everyone safe and well today...

    Friday blessings...

    1. Had a lovely lie in this morning as the cats didn't wake me to go out..I can't say I blame them!

    2. DS went to Mr A to get some bits and stocked me up with fresh milk etc as he's away for the weekend. He wouldn't take any money for my shopping - I'll be sending him again :D

    3. Just after DS went out DN(eighbour) knocked to ask me if there was anything I wanted from the shops, I couldn't think of anything else I needed but she phoned me from the shops to ask if I'd remembered anything. She's very thoughtful, bless her :o

    4. Had a lovely long chat on the phone with a friend who lives in the next village - we were due to meet for coffee this weekend but we're both reluctant to drive atm. Ah well, in true MS style I'm saving petrol ;)

    5. Dinner was chicken casserole with lots of veg and pulses, and rhubarb crumble and custard made with rhubarb I found lurking in the freezer. Good warming winter food and we were too stuffed to move afterwards

    Yesterday's pleasures:

    1. Beautiful, crisp, clear day here today.
    2. Baked Lemon Drizzle Cake and Banana Cake this morning.
    3. Left-over tuna mayo sandwiches for lunch.
    4. Forgetting that we were having DGS2 (age7) and DGS3(age6mths) for the evening :(.
    5. Arrival of DGS's :) - watching dvd of RockyIV with the 7yr old. He tried to tell me the story line and was very surprised that I knew it 'inside out' - he just didn't realise that it was the 'in movie' when his dad was small!
    6. Hot chocolate with marshmallows with 7yr old before bedtime!
    7. They're still here - waiting for daddy and mummy to come and collect them - and THAT will be No.8 ;)!!!

    1. Used up some 'sorry looking' parsnips this morning for 'Spicy Parsnip Soup' - DSNo.2 was most impressed when he decided to 'taste test' it.
    2. DSNo.2 also 'taste tested' my Lemon Drizzle Cake (a few times!) - have had to go and buy some more lemons for a couple more.
    3. Trip to Asda for a 'whoopsie hunt' this afternoon - piece of organic pork (half price); rump steak (less than half price); outdoor-reared pork sausages £1 per pack - bought 2 packs for freezer!); free-range eggs reduced to 33p for half dozen (2 packs) plus lots of bargain veggies :D.
    4. Coffee at my favourite charity shop - found two great cookery books. 'No Frills' (remember THEM?) Family Cookbook and 'Cakes and Baking' by Parragon.
    5. B&M Bargains had some sweet chilli sauces for 58p and 24 Oxo's for 99p.

    My five for Saturday:

    1. I think this feels more like a pleasure when viewed at a distance :D but half an hour of de-icing and de-snowifying the buried car which hadn't been used for several days, with warm water since we had no de-icer, at -4 degrees and at 6 o'clock this morning, then sliding down our sideroad and skidding to a halt when I put the brakes on at the traffic lights was quite a bracing start to the day! Then we got to main roads which were much safer.

    2. Frugal driving again! I love the display on my car which shows the mpg and, with care, I usually get 60 mpg out of it. My record is currently an 83 mpg average for a 140 mile drive last summer. It feels like such a silly pleasure but I really enjoy the private challenge of reducing our fuel consumption and beating my own record.

    3. Another day at a sports competition. DS1's ex-Olympic coach was there and is so funny, experienced in his field and unflappable. He makes me and my children laugh. It's good to have him in our lives.

    4. Falling asleep on the sofa when we got home and waking to find that the children had made themselves supper of HM soup and veggie sausage sandwiches. Not quite the meal I'd planned but they were hungry and didn't want to wake me. We can have the HM fishcakes tomorrow night.

    5. Watching the third episode of Folk America on iplayer: Joan Baez, Bob Dylan etc and the 1960s - lots of memories there.

    Sweet dreams.

My first time on this thread, so here goes:

    1) No wasted food again, leftovers utilised:D

    2) Washing basket emptied (even though it won't last:p)

    3) Videocam with DGS1 who told me " Nanny I love you more than Spiderman":D:D:D

    4) Videocam with Canadian mapleleaf ( also known as DGD1:D) who smiled and burped to order:rotfl:

5)Appreciating how very lucky and blessed my family is. Inlaws, outlaws, the whole lot. We have so little to complain about. Even Dad, who passed peacefully, RIP.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
