Can I sneak in a middle of the day post as well as tonight's?

    1. Waking up in the night to watch everywhere getting covered with an incredibly deep layer of snow. DS1 (16) and DS2 (14) have never seen snow like this.

    2. All of us sleeping in and being woken by a knock on the door at 9 from the child next door - the children got dressed faster than I've ever known and got outside asap. I've barely seen them since 9.

    3. School for the rest of the children in the street has been cancelled so they all built a spectactularly good snowperson with all the OS trimmings (except a pipe). We donated its carrot nose from the tired stuff that is still waiting to be souped in the bottom of the fridge. (Job for later) Don't know who donated the coal, hat or scarf!

    4. They are now building an OS igloo together. Igloos are very MS and very OS!

    5. Our back garden is still looking perfect in its white blanket- our landlord had a new lawn laid at the end of last year and nobody can walk on it until the spring so the view when we stand at the kitchen sink is pristine right now!

I'm wrapped up warm, trying to set myself some achievable goals for the day. Ho hum.

4 Going to curl up on sofa with blanket, books and dvds.
    5. Going to do some handsewing whilst curling up on sofa

    Hi all

Lessonlearned sorry to hear about your cold!

Broomstick, glad you are on the mend.

Thanks all for your continuing good wishes, I am also on the mend and managing to do most things, although quite slowly.

Here are my five for today:

1 - Had a HM "rock cake" for breakfast - they did not look or taste anything like rock cakes when I baked them last night but they are still nice - packed with cinnamon, they are brown inside!

2 - I went to a very interesting (and free) lecture by Ian Marber, the Food Doctor. It was very enjoyable also to catch up with LilacLillie, the OSer who invited me, thank you very much LilacLillie!

3 - After the lecture I managed to get to my herbal class, but although I did not stay as I got quite tired, I managed to stay long enough for the teacher to prepare me a herbal mix to take home, very cheap (she sells herbs at cost to the students).

4 - I registered the Pret card that I picked up today in London and will get a free hot drink next time I pass a Pret shop.

5 - My friend is coming to have dinner here and will bring her very tasty dal (indian lentil curry) - so I shall make veg curry (cheat, with M&S half price sauce!) and brown basmati rice.

    Love to all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Hello all. Getting to the end of the snowiest day yet here in sunny (?) West Yorks so here's my 5 pleasures for today.

    1. Baking some yummy gingerbread biscuits so I can take some to the DGP(dear grandparents!) at the weekend and still got loads to feed the bottomless pit that is OH.
    2. Another batch of washing in and for the first time ever I can see the bottom of the washing basket - flylady is my saviour!
    3. Looking forward to snuggling up with Masterchef, OH and knitting tonight.
    4. Not being able to go to my job interview but the lovely people letting me do a phone interview - they were really great so I hope so much i get the job.
    5. laughing helplessly (but silently) at the cat when I was doing my interview and she wanted more than anything to climb on my knee - she is such a snuggly little furball and i love her!

    Hugs and blessings to all.
    Karrie

  • Hi everyone! Get well soon!

    Here are mine for today

    1) Getting my patchwork stuff out again. I am making something for a friend so I had a nice mooch around the charity shops looking for fabric and was amazed to find just what I needed and within budget.
    2) Hm food from freezer for tea with a batch of cakes I made yesterday

Hi everyone. Hope all of you who have been feeling down or poorly are improving.
    My 5 for today:

    1. Looking out to see we hadn't had snow overnight as I had a considerable journey to make this morning and was dreading bad weather.
    2. Seeing the oil tanker arrive to fill my tank - it was almost empty and the thought of no heating in these temperatures was enough to make me go cold!!
    3. Chatting to a neighbour I dont see very often.
    4. Sticking completely to my shopping list - there's usually something else that hurls itself into my trolley.
    5. HM vegetable curry and rice followed by hm applecrumble and custard for tea - delicious!

Keep warm and safe everyone - and thanks for all helping to brighten my days - reading this thread always gives me a warm glow.

I spoke too soon, I've gone down with that cold/sore throat/temperature bug (waves germy hanky at everyone else who's got it and keeps well clear of those of you who don't!)

    Another five pleasures:

    1. I gave up trying to do much today and had a really long nap instead.

    2. Admiring the igloo which fits four children and looks robust enough to still be standing tomorrow (we are expecting more snow overnight and, by mid-afternoon, the local school had announced it was shut on Friday).

    3. Watching 'Victorian Farm'.

    4. Sorting out next week's veggiebox order.

    5. Being snuggled up in warm jamas and dressing gown and having a one-person midnight feast of cinnamon toast and cocoa (for therapeutic purposes of course).:D

Get well poorly people, stay snug everyone.

Hi all from my sofa when I'm snuggled with the sniffles, but doesn't stop me finding lots of pleasures in the day. Hope everyone is keeping safe and warm, and everybody not so well is feeling better each day

    Thursday blessings...

    1. Looked out of the window this morning to see the local children have built a ginormous snowman - it must be at least 6' tall  . It stands like a sentry at the entrace to out little square :D

    2. DS had put bread out for the birds before I got up so I wouldn't have to go out in the snow, bless him. I'll have to bake another loaf as they've eaten half of yesterdays already

    3. Admittedly I'm not a lover of snow and don't really do well when it's cold but it's good to have a proper, OS winter which will hopefully kill off a lot of germs and bugs that breed in the wet and damp winters we've been having these past few years

    4. Made a big dish of chilli to go with some jackets this evening, well padded out with grated carrots, beans and a handful of oats. Plenty for dinner and some for the freezer :)

5, The second load of washing using econ7 is in the machine now, one more load to put in tonight and the weeks laundry is done. Thank goodness for radiators and drying racks!
