Here's mine from over the weekend:
1. Twinks hobnobs - step son even made us all a cuppa on condition he could have some more!!
2. Finding crumpets stashed away in the freezer
3. Yesterday's dinner courtesy of borrowing my mum's slow cooker books and a pack of chicken thighs from the freezer.
4. Knowing we have food till Friday - just need milk
5. OH being offered a possible early morning job to bring in some extra cash.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi all!
Here are my five for the day, the ones I have already had and the ones I am anticipating!
1 - All night asleep, no pain! I hope I am really on the mend this time! It is wonderful to feel rested in the morning, how I have taken my health for granted before, this is a very useful lesson in gratitude for me!
2 - Breakfast: leftover HM cake from yesterday, I am really learning how to bake nice cakes, thanks to the careful and patient tuition of DD's bf!
3 - Starting work again today. Even if this is not such a pleasure as such, I want to remember that I am grateful that I still have a job, and a very flexible one that I can do from home! And it also means that I am well enough to work now, which is also more reason for gratitude!
4 - Lunch (anticipated) with DD and her bf, and hopefully DS as well if he gets up (lazy thing, on half term, probably will be asleep until 3pm!). Veg and pasta soup is the plan
5 - BIG ANTICIPATION for tonight! Meeting DH in Soho for a cheap chinese meal and then Frank Skinner Credit Crunch Cabaret - can't wait!
Have a very good day everybody! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
My 5 for the day today:
1) Baking eggshells ready to crush up as a slug deterrent in the garden while the bread was cooking.
2) Clearing the area ready for the chickens arriving this week.
3) Planted the first of the veggie seeds in the conservatory.
4) Made OH his HM loaf for his sandwiches.
5) Emptied the first compost heap to use the compost for the first batch of chitted early potatoes.
Have a good Monday all! Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

A rather belated Sunday blessing list...
1. DGD2 and I spent a good part of Sunday sitting cuddled up on the sofa, both coughing like mad. The blessing was she's a very cool (as in not terribly affectionate) 12 y/o but let me cuddle her while we watched films on the television:A
2. She managed to eat well all weekend regardless of a sore throat, so I didn't have to take a starving child back to her parents
3. We did a little work on our Rhodes folder with the help of Google, we're going in April and she's very excited having not flown before
4. Sorted out some more car boot odds, we plan to do at least 2 before we go away to earn some ice-cream money
5. Went to check on her in the night, she was sleeping soundly with my two cats curled up at the foot of her bed. Sometimes you just wish you had a camera to hand...0 -
Thanks Reverbe! I have high hopes for these interviews and a permanent job would be very welcome!
1. Walking out this morning into a lovely springlike morning!
2. Finishing my Ian McEwan library book and knowing that I've gpot anotehr one to start.
3. FM (farmers market) sausage veg and mash for dinner - made by lovely OH
4. A catch up with the Archers and a cuppa when I eventually got in (teh trains were the antithesis of pleasure today!)
5. Laughing my socks off when I was giving OH a hug and the cat snuck up and started licking his hand - he nearly wet himself!!
PS Scouse is lush! my godmother makes the best and always keeps me a portionWhatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!'0 -
Evening All!
My blessings today are:
1. Watching Spooks on dvd for 3 hours this afternoon with my dd (we're both massive fans & Ive rented series 6 from the library)
2. Laughing with the 3 boys whilst we cleared some tee shirts out & duly passed them down to the next one down in age.
3. Smiling at catching the dogs on a sofa each whilst dh was sat on the floor watching tv.
4. Making dh a flask & some sandwiches for tonight's food as he's working nights this week.
5. Feeling the warmer temperature & it not being so dark at 5.30pm makes me think that spring is coming.
Have a good evening & I hope that your day tomorrow brings you blessings too.0 -
hmmm todays....
1. being back at work for the first time in weeks ( never thought id be glad to be back!!)
2. feeling much milder weather when feeding the horses and walking the dogs at 6.30 this morning.
3. it still being light when i got back from work
4. hm chicken pie out of the freezer for dinner
5. curled up on th sofa this evening in front of the fire with my two dogs0 -
Here are mine for the weekend:
1. Having visitors come for Sunday lunch and using up a chicken I got a while ago on the M&S meal deals. This would have been forgotten about if I hadn't made a list of what is in the freezer. Have found this so useful with help in meal planning and just wished I had done it ages ago.
2. Boiling the chicken carcass and making 6 portions of soup, 2 used today and the other 4 gone in the freezer for another time. I have never done this before and always throw the carcass away until reading on MSE that it can be used for soup - amazed at how much meat was actually left when I thought we had got it all off for lunch.
3. Using up the little bit of chicken left over from Sunday lunch to make a pie, found a couple of slices of bacon, a leek and a bit of sad looking broccoli (again, this time last year these would have all ended up going in the bin at the end of the week). Now thanks to MSE I have got a meal out of what appeared to be very little.
4. I even ended up using the scraps of pastry from around the edges (where I had cut the tops for the chicken pie), on some apple and we now have 2 small apple pies in the freezer for another night. Again, these would have just gone in the bin in the past.
5. Going on holiday soon in our caravan and looking forward to meal planning and taking the Moska and slow cooker so that we can still eat cheaply.0 -
Fingers crossed for your interview, Karrie - good luck.
I think this thread is really having a good effect on me each day. Thanks to everybody on here, I'm beginning to look for positives each day instead of dwelling on negatives.
1. Finally found the recharger for my mobile phone after searching for ages (- really MUST get that bedroom sorted). I was beginning to suspect that I'd left it on holiday (we came back home in October) - that's how long it's been since I last saw it. Now I need to get some credit put on it lol!
2. Sent OH to Argos for some of those plastic storage drawers for under the stairs. Remembered to reserve on-line before pointing him in the right direction :j. The intention is to try them out and if they are what we need, to then get a couple more sets in an attempt to tidy up underneath the stairs. Desperately need something to store my sewing/knitting patterns, wool, needles, fabrics, grandkids toys - it looks like a war-zone under there .
3. Busy day in work today but found time to do personal visits for 6 of my tenants and also to meet a prospective new tenant who will be viewing an empty property. Unfortunately we also had a funeral here today, so was a sad day for that particular lady's close friends - so another empty property next week. Some parts of my job I absolutely hate!
4. We both felt as though we had over-eaten this weekend, so just had a jacket potato for evening meal tonight.
5. My Tiggy-tiger is still 'eating for England' at the moment which is wonderful. It's such a blessing to see him improving all the time like this. Two weeks ago we really thought we were going to lose him.
6. I've actually seen all three of my offspring today.
DS1 at 9.00am this morning - 'Can I recharge the battery for my work drill, mother - and by the way is the kettle on?'.
DS2 at 3.00pm - 'I'm outside - are you in? Great - get the kettle on - any Lemon Drizzle Cake in the tin?'.
Then phone call from DD at 4.45pm asking me if I could collect dgd2 from nursery at 5.45pm as her train back home had been cancelled and nothing else for an hour. At least it meant that I got to have my beautiful Caitlin for an hour or so till her mother arrived to collect her! 'Thanks mum - don't know what I'd do without you! Love you!'.
Hmmmmmmm - I just wonder what my kids would do if I had the type of job where I was 'unavailable' all day!0 -
Hi chaps, these are ours today
1) Finding DH's tree saw and sawing up some branches in the garden for the stove. Made me feel really independent.
2) Getting the bones of an essay together for my OU course. Had to force myself but it's done
3) Book Club this evening. Everyone there knows more than I do but it's always very interesting0
