Five OS Pleasures in your day today

Hi all
Thank you all for good words about acupuncture, I had another session today and I cannot speak highly enough of its miraculous effect, I go there with some pain and come out free and easy - and it seems to last for a while! If anyone needs the treatment, look out for schools, it is the teachers who stick the needles in, and the schools' clinics are either very cheap or free!
Anyway, here are my five today:
1 - Good night sleep, free of pain - I know I repeat myself but I am so truly grateful for my health again!
2 - Already said above, acupuncture, but this time even better as she started treating other bits of me, like morning cough etc, so I am really delighted that I am getting all this good health treatment for free. It spurs me to do something good for someone for free in the future, just to "pass it on" IYKWIM!
3 - Lunch with DS, DD and her BF, all sat at the table, it was so nice to spend even this little time together.
4 - My lunch was "cream of chuck-in-all-last-night-leftovers soup" and it tasted great. Unrepeatable, though!
5 - Baked an apple cake. It came well! About to go downstairs for seconds and a cup of tea, then I REALLY need to do some work!
6 - I nearly forgot, someone I know who works in a charity shop dropped a bag of used book on my doorstep - the ones that the charity won't use and I can always pick from or give away to other charities - and one of the books is a guide to sewing! I nearly bought that book, but instead it dropped free on my doorstep! I feel lucky! Thank you!
Have a great evening, all! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
It's been a long time since I've posted, been lurking a bit. So thought I'd through myself in with my OS pleasures for today.
1. Made a cake with the strawberries I dried this morning.
2. Had the washing drying outside for three hours this morning.
3. Cleaned the bathroom with a vinegar and stardrops solution and knew it cost pennies.
4. Went to the butchers and spent £15 on meat which I know will last us two weeks and means I only have to go to the supermarket for milk.
5. Used olive oil as a hair conditioner.
6. Made loads of stock with bones from a chicken we had for dinner last night.Anyone fancy buying my degree? It will only cost you £18k.
May grocery challenge - target = £140
£2 coin savers club - started April 1st - so far £28!:D
Boots card points 67889:T

Watching my OH saying 'that's where you have hidden the ice -cream' with scoop in hand - only to find out it was frozen HM leek and potato soup:p
OH making OS tea, 'I'll just what you do shall I?' Lovely pasta bol type thingy but all HM.
Taking inspiration from the £100 a year clothes challenge and putting the top back on the rail - it was in a charity shop.
Finding a large unopened cross stitch kit for £1.75 in charity shop. Ideal present for MIL
Having an extra day off work :TJane 21120 -
1) OH taking youngest son to the dentist and reporting back that he let the dentist do the treatment. (He screamed the place down when I took him!)
2) Not rushing to the shop when the biscuit tin was empty
3) Baking goodies to feed the hungry masses
4) Knowing exactly how much I spent this month on food for the first time - ever
5) Listening to my son's making a movie with their friendsGC 2011 Feb £626.89/£450 NSD3/7 March £531.26/£450 April £495.99/£500 NSD 0/7 May £502.79/£500

I haven't posted on here for a while, but sitting home alone feeling a little sorry for myself tonight so thought I would read through for a cheer up (and it has cheered me up).
Disflop, this brought a tear to my eye "2. Coming home from my trip to my DH - even after 36+ years being with him is my greatest pleasure." I feel exactly the same, although it's only 9 years for us.
So mine are:
1. Coming home to a lovely steaming, huge mug of tea rather than buying an expensive coffee in town.
2. My mum calling me to make weekend plans- we only speak a couple of times a month, which might sound odd to some people but we get on brilliantly- off to buy her wedding outfit Saturday as she's getting married for the third time in June:eek:
3. Finding out from my step sister that she's still waiting impatiently for my nephew to arrive- and sending my niece a virtual hug. Just seeing a pic of my niece in the snow cheered me up:D
4. Emailing a friend on the other side of the world to let him know I had just seen a gorgeous baby of the same name that I've chosen for his new little one (well you know what men are like, I've convinced him that he chose it himself.....). I guess emailing is not really very OS but it is frugal as a call to that far away could be very pricy.
5. Clearing out four bags for a charity shop then delivering them to Help the Aged shop- also really helped the aged by helping an old lady across the road and giving her a little hug as she was a bit overwhelmed by the traffic.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
ampersand just join in, you can post before or after anyone...though I have to say it's a change for me to be ahead in anything! Are you another night owl?
Caterina I'm so pleased you're sleeping well, there's nothing like a good night's rest to help you through the next day...and you seem to get so much out of every day
(((((((got-it-spend-it))))))
Wednesday blessings...
1. Thought I'd struggle today due to a horrid, shivery cold but I can even find something to be thankful for there. Some years ago we wouldn't have the benefit of a pharmacy and meds, today we can just walk in, ask advice, and be given just what we need. Of course I should really be taking homeopathic remedies but the nearest main town is 9 miles away so I'm grateful for the small facility we do have.
2. Went to a meeting this evening which I'd promised to attend as I was taking someone a book. Felt horrible so left half-way through, and a very kind person followed me home (only 1 1/2 miles but they insisted) to make sure I arrived safely :A
3. DNeighbour has asked me if I'd look after her 9 y/o DD tomorrow afternoon while she keeps an appointment. Then DS phoned to ask if he could bring my 12 y/o future grandson to stay overnight tomorrow. What a blessing that the children want to come to me, perhaps they like helping to bake, or having picnics under the dining table, or building a circuit in the lounge for the cats to compete, or being allowed ice-cream before dinner (on the promise that they eat dinner of course, we just do it the other way round)
4. Postie put a card through the door saying there was a letter for DS at the PO, it was re-addressed from his last house and apparently there was £1.15p to pay. The postmaster said as DS had already paid the forward fee I didn't have to pay any more
5. DS is working away overnight and I'm not in an eating mood (which makes a change) so today's dinner has been plated up ready for tomorrow. Whoopee, a no-cook day! Unless of course the children want to...:rotfl:0 -
My five for Wednesday:
1. Being able to give my Dad some good support for a project he's doing.
2. Juicy oranges from the vegbox again.
3. Very funny exchange of e-mails with my best-most friend who's offering to buy us a wormery.
4. Less recycling out today (as we get closer to 100% HM food, the recycling is reduced by lots). When I can afford it, I'll reinstate the milk delivery which will get rid of all those plastic bottles. Less ordinary rubbish out again for the collection tomorrow.
5. Cinnamon toast and tea while listening to today's Archers on iplayer.
Hugs to all0 -
Watching my OH saying 'that's where you have hidden the ice -cream' with scoop in hand - only to find out it was frozen HM leek and potato soup:p.......
oooooh Jane, love it, love it, love it :rotfl::rotfl:!
Hello everybody, welcome to the new posters, glad to hear you're benefitting from your acupuncture Caterina, and (((((((hugs))))))) to anybody who needs them.
1. Usual toast and porridge for my brekkie this morning - eaten while cruising mse(- evidenced by the marmalade drips on my keyboard
).
2. Decorated the fairy cakes for ds1's g/f's son's birthday - they visited for about an hour for us to give him his presents.
3. Had some 'shop bought' soup for lunch - very disappointed as it tasted watery! That'll teach me a lesson as I've got some of my own HM soup in the freezer.
4. Booked our holiday this afternoon. Not very OS but it is self-catering in a caravan - so maybe I can count it as 'frugal' - just about as cheap as you can get!
5. Lamb's liver, mash, savoy cabbage and onion gravy for evening meal - and not a scrap left on either plate. Poor Tiggy-tiger was most upset
.
6. Just taken HM Spicy Parsnip Soup out of freezer for tomorrow's lunch and a couple of whoopsied 'Deli Counter' curries and Indian Snacks for evening meal - nice treat for OH who very obligingly washed all the dishes this evening. Didn't even leave anything 'to soak' as he normally does .
7. Nice phone-call in work today, to invite any of my 'tenants' who would like to go to a 'tea-dance' on friday - transport provided! Hopefully we can rustle up a few takers for this one.
8. Managed to arrange for 'wheelie-bin assistance' for two of my tenants who have problems getting their bins to the pavement on collection day. The bin-men will now collect their bins from the garden, empty them and then return to the garden. One of the ladies (whose wheelie-bin is bigger than she is!) said 'I don't know what I'd do without you!' - made me want to cry. Some days I just luurve my job!
Why do most of my blessings revolve around food? hmmm says a lot about my priorities, lol .
That's me just about done for this evening, ladies. Hope you all manage to get a good night's sleep (especially Caterina) - nitey nite ! I'm off to bed with my book.0 -
Morning, sparrer - you did ask was I a night owl. Not necessarily, but just now
1. I'm out of a strange dream[so need to phone s/o]and needing to check on Martin's International Call Checker[check list weekly with new issue] b4 I ring, and
2. seeing this from got-it-spend-it - :
'I guess emailing is not really very OS but it is frugal as a call to that far away could be very pricy'.
I hope you do this, gisi, before you ski down those snowy Mts of Southampton again - it only takes a moment to check each week for France, NZ, Oz[they're mine, but it's worldwide]> landlines and mobiles and is well worthwhile. I'll Skype or vonage un de ces jours.
3. Sparrer, your picnics under table and Icecream Order of Service had me Ditto-ing again-long ago.
4. Waking now has brought a happy realisation that I haven't missed Dr Carl on R5[yet], starting in moments - have missed it the last week or two.
5. Another plus - experimented with Control+R and it works! Have a useless insensitive mouse[despite cleaning, new mats etc.etc.]and trying to direct it places is an apoplexy too near. Drives me[drove A] MAD!
Another 5.Said to man parking his car as I passed, 'I'm just admiring your lovely clump of aconites'. Replied he, 'They're my neighbours', but I hereby permit you the pleasure of them' and we both liked the smiley moment:D .
And another 5. Discovering author Maurice Wiggins - In Spite of the Price of Hay[1956]. Bloxwich and environs childhood.
Dr Carl and Rod enjoying each other's company now, so I'm off to bring tea to bed and enjoy theirs[company, not tea], too. Sometimes I ring A and we listen to them and chat during.........
