Never posted on here before but he's mine today:
    1. Been out in the sunshine in the garden with my kids this morning. Was so nice to feel the sun on my skin.
    2. whilst out there was planning my veggie patch and how big it's going to be.
    3. Been able to hang my towels on the line rather than having them stuck in the house.
    4. Seeing my DD having a right good chuckle at her brother. They've both been poorly and she's getting back to her happy cuddly self.
    5. Bought some tonic that a friend recommended as a pick me up after a terrible cold (thanks to the kids!). Am hoping it works as I definately need it!

  • Hi chaps! Thank you for all your lovely posts. Here are mine for recent days

    1) Lovely walk with a friend yesterday. We feel very lucky to live in such a picturesque part of the country.
    2) So many clumps of snowdrops in the front garden. Must be a good year.
    3) Kiss on the cheek from DS for remembering to take his DVDs back. I remember those cuddly days!

For the lady in pain, and I hesitate to offer advice really but as one woman to another ... I gave up wheat recently after seeing an article in a magazine about someone who had exactly the same symptoms as me (terrible abdominal pain). She gave up wheat and citrus fruit and was cured of the pain. So was I. It's amazing. After 17 1/2 years, and all sorts of medical investigations (I could get quite tearful about this), it's gone.

However, I am now trying to get some advice/get the NHS to work out if it is a real allergy and am having a really hard time, but that's another story.

So there is hope. |Keep trying things

Hello all. I have only been reading your posts for a few days but will join in again soon. I too have noticed that kiwiblue has not posted for a while - the last time she said the internet had been down so lets all hope that this is the reason she has not been in touch.
SunnyGirl - So sorry to hear your Dad is in hospital - stay strong and have faith. ((((((((big hug for you))))))))))) and ((((((((hugs)))))))) for all of you that need some TLC. Speak soon.

Big hugs (((((((SunnyGirl))))))). Hope your Dad's recovery is a swift one.

I find it hard to find my five when I've been at work all day, but here goes....

    1. It's my lovely step-sister's due date which has made me feel a little bit excited all day about the prospect of my new nephew very soon.

    2. Waking up with my lovely OH in bed next to me- doesn't happen everyday due to shift work but it's lovely when it does.

    3. Digging out some old uni books for a work colleague, just because I can and he brightened my day at work today without even meaning to.

    4. Thinking forward to the summer and planning a works BBQ on a lovely summer's evening with all my lovely employees.

    5. Climbing into my lovely comfy bed, lighting some lovely scented candles and cracking on with my trashy book (haven't done this yet but it's going to be a real pleasure after a day on my feet).

Thank you once again for sharing all your pelasures ladies (and gents).

SunnyGirl, seeing your Dad wave after all that happened must have been such a special pleasure. I hope your he gets stronger and better really quickly.

    My five for Thursday:

    1. Going into town with my beautiful boys and walking down the street with them in the sunshine, one either side of me. It only seems like yesterday that they were tiny, walking slowly and holding my hands. Now they are bigger than me and walk much quicker(!), and we are so busy, and they are so independent -and we shop so little - that I really notice moments like this.

    2. Getting most of the bits we needed in small specialist shops. And discovering that the ironmongers we go to still sell some seeds and seed potatoes loose by weight - haven't seen that for years.

    3. Getting a free sample of shampoo soap from Lush which is now making our bathroom smell gorgeous.

    4. Kedgeree made with peppered salmon pieces for supper - haven't had that in ages.

    5. Watching Trouble in Amish Paradise on iPlayer. It's so interesting to watch non-consumerist, simple-living communities in action - and seeing the dilemmas and conflicts they are dealing with.

    Sweet dreams.

Sunnygirl - good to know that your dad said Hi and waved. It takes time - so it's good to see an improvement at this stage!
squirrelchops - fingers crossed for your interview. Hope it's a job that you want and that you get it :D.
Reverbe - well done on your freebies - and also on 'payingitforward' - always makes me feel good when I'm able to do that to bless somebody else's day :D.
scousewife - mmmm scouse done in the SC - we had that last sunday for evening meal  (plus I managed to stash some leftovers, that OH didn't 'scav' out of the dish while my back was turned, into the freezer ;)).

Welcome to all our new posters - doesn't this thread make you 'feel good':j.

(((((((hugs))))))) for everybody who needs one today - please help yourselves :D.

For all those of you with kids off school - chin up, they probably go back next Monday :rotfl:. But seriously, enjoy them while you can - they grow up all too quickly, as Broomstick says. One of the defining moments for us mums, is the first time that they put their hand in their pocket to pay for a tea/coffee somewhere - I cried buckets the first time that happened (think my eldest was 17 when he did it!).

    1. Enjoying reading other people's posts about flowers/birds/wildlife emerging at this time of the year. Not much of that where I live, I'm afraid. Maybe I need to get out for a bit of a walk this weekend. We have a cat, so the birds avoid my garden - apart from a couple of crows that squawk at him from a very safe distance!

    2. Visit from DS1 this morning for his usual chat and cuppa before we both start work for the day - the same one who bought me a cuppa at 17 (now 35)!

    3. Some of my lovely home-made Spicy Parsnip soup for lunch today (better than that watery stuff I had yesterday - bleurgh).

    4. Request from DS2 for some baby-sitting tomorrow evening for a couple of hours for my gorgeous 'little Billy-blue-eyes' (6mths).

    5. Have boiled up some dried fruit, tea, sugar and margarine for making a fruit cake tomorrow morning. It will now sit all night so that the fruit 'plumps up' to be really juicey. Think there will also have to be a Lemon Drizzle Cake made as well - there's none of that left and DS1 doesn't do 'dead flies' in cake lol!

    6. Going to dig out some Carrot and Butterbean Soup for tomorrow's lunch. Think the evening meal will be Beans on Toast as we pigged out on whoopsied curries (plus mini samosas/bhajis/pakoras) this evening.

That's me done and dusted for this evening, folks.

Nitey nite, sleep tight and hope you are still pain-free, Caterina :D.

Welcome to the newbies, isn't it lovely that this forum goes from strength to strength? No matter how many worries people have they can still find something good about their day.

Dear Sunnygirl, wishing both you and your Dad well for his recovery. It does take time but hopefully he'll gain a little more ground every day.

Like you all I'm missing kiwigirl's posts, hope she hasn't potted herself along with all that jam...

    Thursday blessings...

    1. The post brought two packs of complete dog food to trial, the furball turned his nose up at one til I berated him with 'Food doesn't grow on trees y'know so be grateful, 'specially when it's a freebie!' He reluctantly sniffed it again and ate a little (from my hand, spoiled brat), knowing full well there's nothing else til it's gone

    2. Neighbours 9 y/o DD came in for a couple of hours this afternoon and thrashed me at Monopoly - I wouldn't dream of telling her I'm not a board game person and just wanted to get it over with - then we spent half an hour laughing at Tom and Jerry cartoons.

    3. DS brought his future step-son to stay overnight. What a lovely, good mannered boy. I'm looking really forward to taking him out while DS is at work tomorrow, who knows what mischief we'll get up to ;)

    4. Took a bag of clothes to the charity shop and while I was there had a browse...well you have to, don't you? Found a gorgeous, floaty M&S summer dress which I absolutely do not need but oh, how I wanted it! It's been through the wash and is now sitting in the ironing basket :o

    5. A beautiful surprise, after all the snow and frosts three clumps of yellow crocuses are just breaking into flower. They look so sunny and bright that it feels quite exciting to think Spring is almost here :)

Close friend also had stroke last year and I was away for over 5 months.
I know what it has done and am utterly with you now.
Remember that 'brain stroke' is now the preferred term - it helps to know whether Dad has been right- or left-side afflicted. MRI scans will further investigate for cause, future pathway. Of all the reading, researching that continues for me since last May, I most needed those dealing with personality and behavioural change.

You have every supportive wish and hug I can offer, SunnyGirl.
Thankyou also sparrer for mention of kiwigirl - as I am another, I'll look her up.
