    Glad you're back Kiwiblue.

    My five for Friday:

    1. Reading over other people's life-enhancing posts in here - you lot make me smile so much.:D

    2. Getting lots of washing done and (almost) dried on the line today.

    3. Making a vat of chunky organic vegetable soup with onions, leeks, carrots, potatoes, celery and cabbage. It was just lovely. We had it at supper time with grated cheese on top and HM bread, then HM stewed apple and icecream for pudding.

    4. Realising that I've already saved nearly a sixth of my Christmas 2009 'sealed pot' money .

    5. This is cheating a bit since I haven't had this pleasure yet but am about to do so. I've just run a bubble bath (with bubbles from hotel we stayed at in January), lit a candle, and am going to try out yesterday's freebie Lush shampoo. Then I have warm clean pyjamas to put on. Bliss.

    Sweet dreams

welcome to mineallmine and welcome back to kiwiblue :j
Sunny girl I hope things are going in the right direction for your Dad, the scans will show what the med team will need to do to help him get better. I know it's difficult but try to spare some time for you too.

    Friday blessings...

    1. yet another chest infection developed from my cold, so off again to the doc for yet more steroids and anti-b's. I'm amazed at how quickly they kick in, by lunchtime I was already beginning to be able to breathe again. I do find it a blessing when I can breathe :rotfl:

    2. Took my future DGS to see Pink Panther 2 this afternoon, I'm not a fan but even I laughed at some of it (must be a reaction to the meds ;) ). We then went to Pizza Hut for the happy hour deal which was surprisingly big and inexpensive for single portions. The waiter boxed up the 3/4 we couldn't eat, to take home.

    3. DS came in from work, he and future DGS loaded up the car and took off for Lancs but not before the boy had thanked me, unprompted, for his stay and everything we'd done. How nice to find a 12 y/o lad with such good manners - he can come again :D. We've already made plans for a summer hols visit with his younger brother and sister, going to the local maze with a picnic and camping in my garden. Hurry up, Summer!

    4. During my daily phone call to DM she was mentioned the time she won a weekend at a health farm and said she'd like to go again - I think it's because of the exercise bikes which have been made available to the tenants at the supported housing scheme she lives in. I was a bit dubious as it was 27 years ago (she's now 87) so she agreed to me taking my freecycle face and foot spas etc so we can have a girlie day. Then 'Just as a taster', she said, 'before we go to Champneys' . I'm definitely buying a lotto ticket tomorrow!

    5. Both neighbours mowed their lawns today. I told one I would do mine over the weekend and he said no, he's going to do it. I'm blessed with the best neighbours I could wish for, not least because I have to have 4 or 5 goes until it's all done.

I have so much to be thankful for.

It was a day of dark reverses and yet......

    1. Bus pass came into its own again, to soften the dash to Heffers, Cambridge - retrieve Bank Card:o, left yesterday...which led to chance 2nd-hand find 'The Land of Two Halves', Joe Bennet and it's v. funny, tightly written and about NZ! Do you know it, kiwiblue? - 50p.

    2. .....during which visit, had last copy of HFW River Cottage 2009 Diary(to add to yesterday's 2), Diaries and Calendars now being £1!!!!!(not £13). One for A, one for rugbymum, one for L.

    3. Reading about pashmina offer on here and checking stock, T's&Cs for a few hours' time:rolleyes: - Grafton Centre, 9am and weekend Bus Pass is not time restricted:D

    4. Phone back on again, after 3 2hr+ sessions on Primus Freephone(one big reason for choosing them along with much research on mse)over 2 days, who've now moved their CS to India, away from Glasgow.......  . then calling Business Sales and their UK Director Azhar, who investigated and apologised profusely for many broken promises concerning reinstatement and calls back, outrageous axing of a/c(DD automatic and up-to-date on Bank statements)and sending to a Collection Agency w/o ref. to me!                            . I have phone back but must chase remedy to negate other fall-out. The small pleasure is the relief from a kafkaesque exhaustion, which was engulfing me, through hours of unreason, being cut off, called a liar, a debtor, lied to, and having to repeat things to different people 11 times. Further investigation will begin on the several hundred £'s I now see incurred against my ex.dir non-ring tel.no covering each of the months May>Oct/Nov, when I was not here. The house is v.secure/no entry and was watched over in my absence........I still feel drained.
    5. 2 pheasants out back and Big Boy cockling and stretching from his seeing-off triumph of rival. He stayed while I laid food trail and made my own chat to him, as to A's hens....
    5 again - finding sparrer is on, too.:T .
    ###########
May I echo your no. 1 pleasure please Broomstick?
5 again again. My tooties are cold now, but I know there's still warmth to enjoy in my hottie -I'm popping back to bed in a mo and DAB7 is such a pleasure.

Who else has radio of one sort or another on night and day? - 4,5,7, world service, classic fm, france inter, europe 1, radio monte carlo, eireann - for every mood, there's something out there.
    #########
Loquats kb - mmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!! There was a huge raidable tree and I adore them still.
Found them once in France, once in Hackney market along with feijoas(more mmmmmm!) Trader chap didn't know what they were, but was soon calling 'Come on, come on, come 'n' get yer ripe joes 'ere!'

The rest of today has been lovely.

    1. Pashminas! - FREE! - THREE!(commandeered 2 bods who were happy to oblige). 3 presents whose homes very much await. Passed on the 2 superfluous DT's, too. Recipients pleased.
    2. mot, investigated Poundland in some depth(hadn't known there was one).
Fragrant climbing roses £1, freesias, so much, so much, but was sensible and will tomorrow have my first proper gardening day this year(provided it's today's weather repeated.) Took pleasure in sitting in gardens with this shopping en route to return bus, eating apple, reading The Land of Two Halves, reflecting, and loving real warmth of sun on face.
    3. Still loving the vistas and intimate gazes, Betjeman-style, in to other people's gardens, rooms, yards, lives - all from bus travel - and double deckers every time today. An absent sort of unfocussed pleasure, not nosiness.
Goody!(Remember I come from the land of no such animals and the novelty does not die.)
    4. One rambling lawn that was nothing but pale lilac crocus,
    5. Being back for quick munch, change(I was hot now, around 14h)and other direction bus to a Mr T. Just had to feed Big Boy before leaving (again!) - he is definitely waiting for me, tolerating me now.
5 Mr T paid me 1p to take a pack of ginger mints away - DTD overcharge(duly posted on Tesco Misprice Thread)SEL 34p, charged 69. 70p back.
5[ii] What a sky to return by! - majestic shepherds' delight dome and early evening star over the Fens, massed pink on blue and black Western velvet.

.........and I do not have to pay attention to drive. The Joe Bennett book is a cracker.

I hope you've all revelled in more small things, felt the sun today.
[AND, postie has brought Mr T vouchers which I haven't opened yet - they won't be so big again, now Points offers are scarcer than....]

    #############
Loquat interiors are beautiful - smooth brown stones most nearly like those of a lychee/litchi. I love them.

    Hi all

Kiwiblue it is good to have you back, hope the broadband problem is sorted. Many good wishes on your OH's op in March.

Olliebeak, thanks for your kind words, I feel absolutely well now, thanks God!

Sparrer, I am sorry your cold is still lingering, all the best wishes for a prompt recovery!

    Here are my five today:

1 - Sunshine, oh what a glorious day!

2 - Bedding washed and dried in the garden (first of the year!), I really was looking forward to this, nothing beats the lolvely smell of wind-dried clothes (except for the smell of babies - with a clean botty, that is!).

3 - Lovely visit from two dear Nonnymice who brought goodies to help a young friend of mine. Thank you again Nonnymice!

4 - Helped a schoolboy with some Italian homework and it might well turn into a little job if his mother wants me to give him conversation practice!

5 - Went to see a friend who I had neglected while being unwell, we sat and chatted and knitted and she made me a delicious mint tea, made with fresh mint leaves. I have decided, I am going to start growing mint again!

6 - DH is making veg and tofu stir-fry with brown basmati - one of my absolute fav dishes in the world!

7 - Life is good, what can I say? I am grateful for all my family and I have.

Have a lovely evening all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Yesterday's pleasures:-

    1. The lovely mild weather.

    2. A line of totally dry washing.

    3. Sowing in tubs, seeds of peas, raddishes, carrots, basil, salad bowl lettuce - all tucked up in the coldframe.

    4. Making blueberry and apple muffins.

    5. Making raspbery jam with frozen raspberries.

    Today's pleasures:-

    1. Sitting in the summerhouse with DH and drinking coffee with a HM scone.

    2. HM soup and a HM roll for lunch - again in the summerhouse, it was really warm.

    3. A well deserved afternoon nap after a very busy day yesterday.

    4. Sowing seeds for brocolli.

    5. Finding the carrot seeds I sowed at the end of January had now germinated.

I debated whether or not to add in this one, another shopped thing - but this is so rare for me.
Anyone who loved and lamented Oliver Postgate will appreciate my 3 for £1 video finds in a charity shop today - complete Bagpuss, 2nd series of Clangers(bought 1st series for A last year), complete Ivor the Engine.

The anticipation of sharing with another big child, A, is great.

Sorry if the shopping thing is against the spirit of Thread.
    ############
Yes, bella - aren't frozen raspberries the most forgiving fruits? I made jam from '07 crop a fortnight back.

ampersand - I don't see how your videos could possibly be anything other than OS :D.

3 for £1 for a pressie for OH is a bargain - and definitely in the nature of a daily blessing!!! Hope you both enjoy watching them all.

I scour the video shelves in all the charity shops as we still have both video and dvd ;).
