Late again, but not as late as some nights I've posted! Work keeps me tied to this laptop sometimes. Hope all are doing okay, Raggydoll well done on getting back to work, but do take it slowly and be kind to yourself. Good to hear about Tiggy-tiger Ollie, what a blessing. Angeladavis I'd never heard of baking eggshells before, I could certainly do with something to discourage the slug population in my garden.

    Monday blessings...

    1. What a beautiful day! Mild, sunny and still...a promise of better times to come

    2. Went to the GP only to be told my appt is for next Monday ...the full waiting room laughed when the receptionist said it's better to be a week early rather than a week late

    3. Love hearing the little bits Olliebeak mentions about life with her tenants - I managed a sheltered housing scheme for 15 years so it brings back memories of such good (and the occasional sad) times. I started to collect sayings from my tenants - 'I'm goin' down the doctor's wiv me legs' was a favourite. Another time there was a leak in a lady's bathroom and she said 'You can never get to the bottom of water can you?' Quick as a flash I replied that she'd never seen me try to swim :rotfl:

    4. Mini roast for dinner with pork strips from the butcher, on offer at £1.50 a kg. Some roast tatties, leeks and YS cut green beans made an inexpensive and tasty meal. I love pork strips :D

    5. DS came back from a few days away this afternoon, we chatted for ages about his weekend and the referee course he's on.

    My OS pleasures today are:

    1. Making lentil pasties and jam tarts.
    2. Making DD a pair of shorts out of some old jeans.
    3. Finding lots of whoopsies in my Co-op and saving £7.50!
    4. Finding a lovely baking book in local charity shop for 75p.
    5. Cooking the remains of a chicken carcase found in the freezer and getting twice as much meat off it as I expected.

    Hello all

Here are my five for today:

1 - HM baked beans with a lovely organic wholemeal toast, bread that a colleague brought when she popped in for breakfast as she had to pick up some documents from me.

2 - Very good acupuncture session, I am so grateful to have this treatment for free (I was referred to the student clinic), I could never afford 2 sessions a week if I had to pay! It is really making a difference.

3 - Caustic soda in toilet to unblock it (is it a pleasure? Too much info?) saved me a fortune in plumbing fees!

4 - Scoffed the remaining half pot of egg custard that I bought yesterday (yellow stickered of course!) as pudding after my cheese roll for lunch.

5 - Going to the library now to return a few books and hopefully will find some more interesting ones there.

    Have a great evening, all!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Mine for today -
    1. Agree with Olliebeak I think this thread is having a good effect on me too. I am also looking for positives each day instead of dwelling on negatives although it is difficult sometimes.
    2. After reading the posts above, checked out my baked eggshells in the shed to see how many I have as I send DH out to add to my collection each week. I have enough for all summer. I hadn't heard of doing this but my dad told me last summer that it works and it did seem to.
    3. Busy packing our caravan today as we are off on Thursday for a few days and will meet up with DS - just love time spent with him as it is always quality time, sometimes wish it was quantity time as well - if only he lived nearer home.
    4. Managed to get some more of the Thorntons mis shape chocolates today in Home Bargains for 99p - they hadn't had them for a couple of weeks.
    5. Ordered a couple of the magazines on the BBC website, found offer on MSE where you could have 1 free copy then 3 for £1. As Good Food was on offer and I usually buy this it was a bargain.

Caterina - glad to hear that the acupuncture seems to working.

Apart from reading this thread my 5
    1. making 2 bun loafs. I keep one for us and split the rest between MIL and neighbour.
    2. Went for a day out to St George's Hall, only a £1.00 admission and free for kids. A gorgeous building that makes me in awe of what the craftsmen could achieve in those days.

    3. Used my Tesco Vouchers to buy lunch in Bella Italia.
    4. Watching the kids really enjoying themselves playing footy in the garden. (I wish PS3's hadn't been invented.)
    5. Sorting out my drawer of paperwork (most of it old receipts to lash) so feel tidier.
