(((((((Caterina))))))) Get Well SOON!!!
Thursday blessings...
1. ooh my post lady is being kind this week! Today she brought me a double mascara which makes my lashes look almost as long as lush as they did 25 years ago :rotfl: ..now I just need somewhere to wear it
2. Went to the bottle bank and the £ bank, paid in at both places so I'm feeling a little bit self-righteous now
3. Spent some time on the pc making up a 'brochure' for DGD, of the place we're going to in Rhodes in April
4. Gathered together a huge carrier of used bubblewrap, padded envelopes etc to give to a lady who has a small shop on ebay and likes to recycle as much as she can. And the bonus is a nice tidy stationery cupboard
5. Only two for dinner this evening so the turkey drumstick did a roast and there's enough for a risotto tomorrow...I love Mr. A's £1.27 turkey drumsticks0 -
Yes, 'Get Well Soon Caterina' from me too.
Five for Thursday:
1. Doing some very detailed reading and feedback for my writing friend and working some more on my own ideas.
2. Getting more or less on top of the washing again (before the winter weather that is due to sweep the country next week).
3. Veggie bolognese for supper using last night's sauce, so it was an easy meal.
4. Having a no spend day and not even being aware of it 'til now.
5. Loving seeing that Singer treadle sewing machine in action on The Victorian Farm tonight. It was identical to my Gran's which I used to sew with.
Sleep well x0 -
Yesterday:
- Wood ash from woodburner put on rose beds
- Veg peelings went in runner bean trench
- Had bunching onions and leaf beet from the kitchen garden and saw new season garlic appearing
- Had a beef roast dinner treat last night, everything cooked in oven (apart from steamed leaf beet) to save leccy, beef was part of a large half price joint from Mr T, cut down to make 5 small joints
- OH made another fine loaf in the breadmaker

Caterina (((((hugs))))) be better soon.
I didn't get time to post yesterday must have been having too many pleasures.
1. The postman brought the seed potatoes and potato growing bags we had ordered.
2. Laying the potatoes out on an egg tray and placing in a cool light place as directed.
3. Getting a deep pot ready to sow carrots, but the seed packet said to put into warmed soil so I now have it in front of the fire. DH is glad I'm not rearing pigs!
4. Having no 'home grown' salad available for lunch yesterday so using up some leftover veg from the freezer which had been destined for soup and making a hot cheesy meal. Nice change.
5. Making up more cards and counting up that I have now done forty. If only half of them sell at £1 per time it will be a welcome boost to my crafting budget.

Love to Raggydoll and Caterina.
1. Treated myself to watching Victorian Kitchen while I cycled 8 miles on the stationery bike. (The Council gym I go to has a TV on each piece of equipment.)
2. Hoping I will keep this up, but I have stopped eating all the chocolate, biscuits and refined carbs such as bread and pastry. I have so much more energy and have stopped having a doze of an evening. Trouble is if I run true to form I will revert back to my chocolate cravings in a few weeks.
3. Went to Home Bargains and bought Starclen and Starpine to go with my Stardrops. Love cleaning the house using these, they smell so clean and fresh.
4. Bought pretty tins for £0.20 each, will keep them until Christmas to put cranberry mince pies and brandy butter in as presents. (I made my mince pies for the first time using a Nigella recipe, can’t believe how much everyone loved them this year.) Will have to make double quantities next year.
5. Walking around the lovely old Red Brick University where I work and imagining all the people who have worked/studied there over the last 100 years. The University is in the centre of Liverpool, but there is a grassed quad behind the walls which I always think is like a secret garden as passersby on the roads outside would have no idea it was there.Money SPENDING Expert0 -
Get well soon Katerina!
Bluenose I was an undergrad there and spent many a summers day sat on the grass (Studying of course!)
1. Lovely homemade chilli for tea with whoopsied peppers and some aging tins of beans from the cupboard - made double portions so we can have wraps next week.
2. Finishing 'never let me go' from the library - it was a spectacular book
3. A beautiful smoky sunset over the hills, all colours of pink, blue and grey.
4. Getting to the bottom of Odins washing basket that resides in my bathroom
5. Snuggling up with the cat and my knitting as OH was giving an evening lecture last night - kitty has finally realised that wool is not a toy when it is attached to needles!
blessings to everyone, hope you have a peaceful and happy weekend.Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!'0 -

My five things to be thankful for today...
1 - (bit of background to the 'thanksfulness post' first... my sister is 27 weeks pregnant and we had some devastating news just before christmas that the baby has a problem in his brain and will be at the very least severely disabled, but worse than that, he probably wouldn't even survive...).
the good news is that today she's had another scan and although the situation hasn't changed very much, the brain problem has slowed in it's progression and they've referred her to kings college hospital in london and are talking about the things they can do to help him after he's born. so talking about him as if he's going to survive rather than not. also his heart, lung and kidneys and all other organs aside from his brain are 100% perfect and working
a little hope to brighten our day as we were all expecting another devastating blow, as every scan since xmas has been even worse news.
my other 4 'thankfulness posts' are a little less important, but nonetheless brightened my day a little
2 - watching DS singing along to a song on the telly. he knew all the words but when he caught me looking at him he went all shy and started giggling lol
3 - cooking a belly pork joint and having it turn out just like jamie olivers'. lots for dinner tonight, and another 2 or 3 meals' worth. plus 5 ribs which i separated from the joint after it was cooked.
4 - looking in the fridge and seeing that i've got 11packs of butter which i usually run out of as it's so expensive... i stocked up on the asda 47p deal lol
5 - thinking about making a sponge cake with buttercream and h/m marmalade filling.. hmmm.. think i might do that in a minute actually0
