    Here's mine for the weekend:

    1. Finding out the new tyres for my car didn't cost quite as much as I expected :o - trying to be positive

    2. HM Toady hole with stuffing balls, roast potatoes and lots of veg.

    3. Having the fridge and cupboards full now that I've been paid.

    4. HM Leek and tatty soup from the freezer for lunch today.

    5. Feeling generally at peace with the world (yesterday - back at work today so that feeling is on shaky ground!!).
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • Hi all
    My 5 for yesterday are;

    1) Selling my ds old buggy & getting a fair price for it - used local free ads so no fees to pay either.
    2) Getting through my huge pile of ironing plus additional items for my forthcoming holiday (it only took 4 hours!!)
    3) Using up my woopsied sausages & veg & making a casserole in the slow cooker, plus having lots left over to freeze for another nite.
    4) Buying lots of 10p sale items from Wilkinsons; including gift wrap, tags, bows, chocs & xmas pudding!
    5) Just generally feeling grateful that have a holiday to look forward to & feeling quite organised for once!

    Take care all x

  • 1. had a lovely weekend and caught up with lots of family – had a cocktail evening with sister and my 6 year old niece helped us shake the cocktails – I kept telling her don’t tell your teachers that you spent the weekend making mojitos!!! Hope she doesn’t rat me out!
    2. grateful I still have a job – it might not be perfect but it keeps a roof over my head
    3. cat was so cute this morning – wanted to sleep under the duvet in what we call the ‘tunnel of love’ it’s a tunnel cos mummy has to use her arm to make an arch cos the cat doesn’t like the duvet to touch her! But gives mummy pins and needles!
    4. thinking or all the possible alternatives I have for dinner tonight – probably do something simple as I have the gym tonight, but tomorrow I could make a big quorn shepherds pie or quorn chilli – yummy
    5. got lots of things off the ‘to do’ list this weekend, silly jobs like clearing out the linen cupboard but I did it and I have a sense on achievement now!

A little late but here are my Sunday blessings..

    1. Had a quiet day with no visitors or phone calls (til the evening) so I did little and slept lots

    2. DS returned from a weekend away, had a good time and seems more positive about his future

    3. Made a huge dish of pasta'n'bol so I don't have to cook today

    3. My gooseberry bush, which looks completely grey and dead, has lots and lots of tiny buds on it :D

    4. Watching my dog lick his paws and wash his face just the way my cats do - I swear he's confuzzled

    5. Spent a lovely, companionable evening chatting quietly with DS while he worked on his laptop and I played solitaire and watched some television. Life doesn't always have to have bells and whistles, the small things mean the most..it doesn't happen often so savour the moment...

    1) I enjoyed my HM chorizo and sweet potato soup for lunch at work
    2) I making mini toad in the holes for diner tonight. I hope they turn out, I've never made them before.
    3) I am making Twink's hobnobs for the first time tonight for the boys lunch boxes.
    4) I am planning a bubble bath by candle light after the boys are all in bed. All the OS things I have done over the weekend have me worn out!
    5) I plan to paint my nails a lovely pink clour tonight.

    Hi all

We've been away for the weekend, helping at an event, so I've just been catching up on posts.

Raggydoll, I'm sending you huge hugs and hope that lots of good eventually comes out of what is a really sad time.

A few pleasures from the last few days - not very OS really but at least not costly!:

    1. I managed to get my next Open University assignment finished and sent off on Friday (before the deadline) and before we left.

    2. We spent the weekend away with our (comfy but not posh) hotel, meals and car fuel paid for so it was a nice break doing something different and I managed to keep our additional expenses to an absolute minimum.

    3. We met up with loads of friends from round the country.

    4. Getting a couple of early nights' sleep.

    5. Managing to fit in lots of writing work of my own around everything else.

I'll do another post tonight about today's good things. It was nice being away but I prefer being back home and with access to MSE.:D

    1. Washing my lovely new kitchen flooring! (Asked for money off our parents and grandparents to go towards it for Xmas instead of pressies and ended up not having to pay anything ourselves! :j )
    2. Seeing my gleaming kitchen benches having cleaned all the muck off them which seemed to appear after having the flooring put in.
    3. My little girl beaming at lunchtime when I asked her if she was ready for some soup for lunch. "Oh soup! And toast?!" was the heartwarming resonse :)
    4. My little girl snuggling up to me on the settee with her "blankie" this afternoon for a little snooze.
    5. Looking forward to the delish lasagne I made last week and froze for tonight's dinner! Mmm..... :D
Love and compassion to all x

Bit of a mixed day but:
    1. Our phone working again after being out of action for most of the day. (never did discover what the problem was).
    2. Mixing in yesterday's leftover haggis into mashed potato & greens to make colcanan to fry for supper until crispy brown..
    3. Noticing that the evenings are slowly getting a tiny bit lighter so I can set our security table lamps to come on 30 minutes later, saving a few farthings!
    4. Laughing hilariously at a joke email video clip sent to me by a friend depicting a Scotsman in a kilt on a windy day climbing up a ladder and needing passers by to help hold his ladder firm while he climbed up it. (yes, you can guess.......:rotfl:.)
    5. Making up another jar of red cabbage pickle using the residual vinegar from a jar of pickled onions.

Not sure if this is where I should post the recipe elisa - but this is where its going!

    All Bran Loaf

    4oz All Bran
    10oz mixed dried fruit
    5oz sugar
    1/2 pint milk

Soak altogether for 1/2 hour, then mix in:

4oz SR Flour or Wholemeal flour.

    Bake in a 2lb loaf tin @ 180C for approx 1 hour

    My 5 pleasures for today:

1.Enjoying reading the Sunday paper with a cuppa first thing this morning.

2.Feeling very virtuous and pleased when everywhere sparkled after a mad cleaning session!

3.A nice chat to DD on the phone

    4. HM Carrot and coriander soup for lunch - delicious!

    5. A walk to the library to collect a book I had reserved - becoming a habit now!
  • Hi everyone, back on line after a few days away.
Raggydoll - hugs and I hope you are feeling better. Positive thoughts coming your way from the other side of the world.

    My five for today.

    1. Its raining - after a long dry spell, the gardens are just drinking it up,

    2. Its raining, so Tai Chi will be held at 10am,instead of the usual 8.30am giving me time to sneak another coffee and have a leisurely breakfast.

    3. Spending time with my lovely daughter SIL and their 15 month old baby.

    4. Babysitting another DGD and DGS, having a delightful time with them.

5.OH helped me defrost the large chest freezer, so it now looks sparkling and clean. Being rather short, its very difficult to reach the base of it.

    Blessings be
    Jennie
