Five OS Pleasures in your day today

Early tonight as it's been a long and quite busy day and I'm more than ready for my bed
Reverbe if nothing else comes of your interview (but I sincerely hope it does) it sounds like you had a yummy day!
Oh Caterina, how awful! Thanks be to your guardian angels for taking care of you today
Friday blessings...
1. Had an email from an old friend I hadnt heard from for almost 2 years, we'd lost each others addresses due to various changes. I'm so pleased she decided to check an old account as it's renewed a lovely friendship.
2.Did my first big shop of the year, spent just under £100  in Mr A's but got enough for 3 people and 3 pets for 3 weeksthanks to reading every MSE tip I could and very careful planning, also 'saved' £14.26 on BOGOFs and other offers.
3. Had the back door and all the windows open this afternoon, it was beautifully warm and sunny and the house got a good airing. They can keep all their costly fresheners, plug-ins and sprays, there's nothing like the smell of fresh air
4. I have the house all to myself tonight...I've made a loaf, cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, prepped all the veg I bought today for the freezer, now just waiting for 11.30 so I can turn on the wm. I love it when I'm on my own and can get on with what I want to do, when I want to do it
5. Just watched Grumpy Old Men and laughed all the way through, had to agree with most of what they said...I do that with Grumpy Old Women too, what does that tell me? :rotfl:0 -
Ooh hello, my first post ever...
Raggydoll, I've been there too, do keep finding the little positives, they will really help you through.

2. My eco-group at school have collected over 10,000 Christmas cards for recycling!! They were so excited.
3. Getting the breadmaker out tonight for the first time in ages - lovely smells!
4. Eating the last of the Christmas chocolate.
5. My 2 beautiful girls sre sleeping soundly.0 -
Hello all. Not listing any blessings today. Just wanted to send (((((((hugs)))))) for Raggydoll and love and blessings to all0

Thank you Reverbe and Sparrer! I did not realise until this evening how shocked I am by the event. I was perfectly calm when it happened but this evening the reality of what could have happened is sinking in.
But hey, in the end I have to look at it positively, nothing bad happened, we were all truly protected by angels, it could have been a real disaster but it wasn't! So really I am extra-grateful today!
Good night, all! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Its very late/early but here goes for the day that has been
1) having a new, more efficient central heating thermostat put in. I am sure we will save money
2) having 7 books (!) on my "borrowed" shelf that friends have read and lent to me
3) having a long chat with an old friend this afternoon and not having to explain anything
4) listening to DH messing around on his guitar in the background
5) having good home-made food and a bottle of wine this evening
My love to all those in such difficulty. Remember, life goes in seasons. This is just a bad one but things change, sometimes more quickly than you expected.
Blessings all0 -
Thank-you so much for your lovely words - i really am touched. It truly is the hardest thing that i have ever been through and something i could never have even begun to comprehend until now but i just take one day at a time and deal with what i am feeling as it happens.
Anyway to my positives for the day that was yesterday...
1. Cooking my first successful omlette!!
2. Writing my meal plan for the week of things i will cook for us!!
3. Realising that for the first time in my life i have a circle of friends around me that genuinely care about and love me.
4. Planning this years veg garden with DH
5. Collecting the fresh eggs from our chucks to put in the above omlette. Yum.0 -
Hi all
I know it is early in the day, but already I feel I have so much to be thankful for I thought I would share;
1) Waking up this morning after drinking the bar dry & feeling absolutely fine - no signs of a hangover at all!!!
2) Being elated that my ds slept all the way thru the night for the first time since he was born - It only took 2 years!!
3) Putting all my scouse ingredients into the slow cooker - thats tea sorted for tonite.
4) Taking advantage of the wind again & hanging out a wash on the line whilst breathing in the clean fresh air.
5) Im now off to Mr Ts armed with a fistful of money off coupons & my "green" bags & not forgetting a pocketful of treats to keep ds occupied!!
Take care all xx0 -
Hi Scousewife!
I know what you mean, waking up and feeling grateful already!
So I am going to add my gratefulnesses for the day even though it is just morning:
1 - Waking up and finding out that I am alive and that the near-miss of yesterday is only a bad memory, already almost forgotten.
2 - Breakfast in bed, courtesy of DH: toast and HM marmalade, loads of lovely hot tea!
3 - Every time I see the fabulous teacosy that my friend knitted for my brown teapot I can't help but feel grateful for her lovely friendship - and the teacosy REALLY works, tea stays hot for a really long time!
4 - Talking to another friend on the phone just a few minutes ago and planning our window-shopping outing to Portsmouth outlet shopping centre, I got tickets from megatrain at £2 each (return!).
5 - DD's boyfriend agreed to do some work with DH this afternoon (and hopefully tomorrow too) at a very reasonable hourly rate (saving us nearly £100 per day that a local handyman had quoted us!) , digging up the garden and helping build raised beds - mind you, he will also reap the benefits as he spends a lot of time here and he will also enjoy the home-grown veg!
Have a lovely day, all! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
I have just one pleasure to add, but it's one I'm delighted with.
1) A few weeks ago I went to the local hardware shop & saw an old fashioned hand mincer, the type that clamps to a table, it was £12.99. I ummed & erred over it & decided not to get it then, but maybe next month after pay day, imagine my joy when I found one in the local charity shop, brand new, still boxed for £4!!!!

Mine today:
