Hi,
Today I had the second meeting with someone at job center.
My first meeting was great, the guy was really understanding, empathetic and treated me like a valuable part of society. However, today I had a different lady and she was so cold and an absolute a******, she had a bad tone and when I asked her for her email for when I have any questions, she refused to give it to me. I felt like she had some personal vendetta against me, and half way through she decided she wants me to come into the jobcenter and apply for jobs there for 1 hour/week, despite having an active history in the jobshop site (100+ jobs applied for in a week).
Should I complain about her?

If you believe you have reasonable grounds for a complaint then do so. If nobody complains nothing can or will happen.0

is it normal to be treated like this by JSA because they don't want you there?0

How much time did you spend on each application? I would be concerned that someone applying for 100 jobs a week is simply copying and pasting the same thing. You are aware that job seeking is about quality as well as quantity?
Oh, and nothing in your post suggests the advisor has a personal vendetta against you!0 -

I'm shocked that she is asking me to go in and apply for "half an hour" per week. I never see anyone using the computers there so why am I singled out for this.... I'm a recent graduate in a science subject so I'm applying for a specific professional role all over the country every single day starting at 9am. However, is it normal to ask all candidates to go in once a week to "use the computer" or are they chosen based on something they did?0 -
Ahhh, you are only applying for specific roles that match your qualifications. You will need to apply for absolutley everything regardless of skills required.
You do know of course, about the 2-cv approach to job hunting don't you ?.
If not, it's simple. You have 1 really proffessional cv for the jobs you really want and 1 really carp cv full of stupid mistakes for the work that won't keep the roof above your house.
As for complaining ?. You have nothing to lose. My spouse complained about her advisor and the advisor got a rollicking. After that, she treated my spouse a lot better.Never Knowingly Understood.

So is it an hour or half an hour each week you need to job search for? The story has changed so it's not clear.0 -
From personal experience most JC staff are supportive but some are quite simply in the wrong job. It's a few years since I had to sign on and the regime then was somewhat different but, I used to take in a separate list with the websites I had signed up to which gave me automatic feeds on any job which matched the criteria I was searching on. Every advisor I saw was happy with that list rather than having to fill in the 'official' sheet with the same information every 2 weeks. Then I got a total ******** one week. A well balanced individual - a chip on each shoulder! :-) He quite literally threw the list back across the desk and said it wasn't acceptable. I didn't do what he expected, which was clearly to grovel and apologise. I asked him why, when it had been accepted by every previous advisor, it wasn't good enough for him? He didn't have a valid answer and I continued to use the list each week. Funnily enough I never had to deal with him again, although I did see him around the office often enough.
I didn't need to complain in that instance but I certainly would have had I experienced a repeat performance.0 -
Thanks for the replies. I'm definitely going to complain about her, I can't wait to get off this thing I honestly felt worthless for the whole day after meeting that woman. My country offers me support, then I'm going to take it. Who is she to judge! So is it an hour or half an hour each week you need to job search for? The story has changed so it's not clear.
I was !!!!ed off when I wrote it. Just checked the sheet and it's half an hour.
I still don't understand why she randomly dictates that I do it in the Job center when I've been applying efficiently at home!
I wouldn't be bothered if society didn't frown upon anyone who sets foot in that place! It's so embarrassing to sit in there!0 -

If you are applying for 100 jobs each week and are stll still signing on its not particularly efficient.
Nobody likes being treated like a kid but once your there you may as well maje the best of it, see if you can learn a few things from them.0 -
