    It's a good job you would never make such a spelling mistake, eh? Particularly when you're trying to correct them yourself!

    Technically speaking but there IS a difference between "there" and "there", depending on the context.

    Grammar nazi! :laugh::laugh::laugh:

    I like chocolatelover93's line. I think, though, that it boils down to a mix of good old British ignorance and SOME unscrupulous canvassers.

    Indeed, it's clear that chocolatelover93 will defend the role of her husband and he may well be honest and have a product that sells itself. However, we've all seen pushy salesmen on TV and many of us experienced them in person.

    FWIW, I won't buy from a cold caller or donate to a chugger; they have to earn a commission and that's in the price / comes out of the donation.

    Also, in the interests of context, its abundantly clear that the OP has no idea of which "there" to use. There are multiple examples of that in this thread alone.

    Just to stoke the fires a bit more.

    I know you find it difficult to grasp, but there is a clear difference between an errant typo and a demonstrable lack of understanding regarding the correct usage of a given word.

    Indeed there is a clear and fundamental difference. But the irony of your post has obviously left you grasping at things which you know I find difficult to grasp.

    You call it 'trying to earn a living' and 'providing for their families' which is true... just like drug dealers. But hey, if your partner can sleep at night knowing he's flogged a few grands worth of guttering to some old granny then so be it. Puts food on your table.

    Ok, hands up then who wouldn't mind their own income tax going up to support such people in such roles to quit and live off job seekers until they find different roles?

    I would rather they got on to job seekers because their employers went bust.

    Your understanding of irony is Alanis Morissette-esque.

    I've only actually used the 'it's rented' when washing the car/ sweeping the drive out the front of the house and being stopped to be fair.

    At all other times I would quickly check the CCTV (which I can do via wifi from phone/ipad anyway) and if I'm not expecting anyone or don't recognise them/their uniform they I simply ignore the door knocker!
