I DO have a sign which is clearly displayed but even if I did not, if I have not asked for the product, do not knock my door trying to sell it to me! You can call me all the offensive names under the sun but I still reserve the right, seeing as you are on my property, uninvited to tell you to clear off in no uncertain terms. If you don't like it, well, following your earlier logic, don't knock on my door

re your last sentence, pot and kettle spring to mind. You were the one who initially became very rude and defensive when you failed to comprehend (on several occasions) the point both myself and Pollycat were trying to make re opening the door.

PS. If their product is that good they should not need to cold call people!!

Wow chill out lad! Blood pressure through the roof!!

I was just saying that unless you have a sign clearly visible then you shouldn't be so rude! As it happens you've cleared up the fact that the sign is clearly visible so "fair enough". I clearly said that in my post!

Slamming doors in someone's face IS rude, but I Can see what you'd be able to justify it.

PS. The quality of the product is not necessarily in question if they use cold calling methods to sell products. Cold calling is just another legitimate way of selling goods, often avoiding a lot of overhead costs (which could eat into low profit margins, for example) - assuming done legally, of course!

Even if I didn't have a sign, don't come onto MY property to sell. My property, my rules. As you would say "simple"!

Standing on my doorstep trying to get me to buy something uninvited is rude, slamming the door in someone's face is merely a response to that rudeness.

like I said, a company having to resort to cold calling, particularly for the reasons you state in your last paragraph, is not a company I want to deal with.
  • I love reading all these comments it actually makes me laugh so much! I can't believe how much people get their backs up!!

At least he is going to work which is more than what half the country do!!

Just wondering but suppose you don't have a sign, how would someone know what the rules of your house were? :rotfl:

Not going to argue, that's your opinion!

Mine is that, unless you show a sign, slamming the door in someone's face is rude (and it still probably is anyway).

I do love how short tempered people are about things like this.

Someone knocks on your door to sell you someone and you just have to say you're not interested. It takes about twenty seconds of your day.

It's unnecessary to be rude to the person as they are just trying to make a living. Personally I rarely buy anything but I did buy some overpriced sponges from some guy who had just come out of prison and was on some scheme. If you can afford it I think it's nice to support people like this.

Some people are just Unpleasant though and like to be rude to people for the sake of it.

    It's a bit sad really.
  • All leaflets get posted back to them minus a stamp. The ones that fail to close my gate after openeing it get a bonus of some extra clutter that i cannot compost.

And that is your choice and your opinion. Fair enough. I have a different viewpoint Different things annoy different people.

Seems like more trouble than its worth and a waste of money in envelopes!

Also the results of this don't impact on the person at the company who makes the decision to post these letters. Instead it just inconveniences some low level employee who has to open this letter and the Royal Mail who have to deal with a letter that has no postage on!

I assume it makes you think better about yourself but personally I think you need to be a bit more mature about it....
  • My life has been bliss since I got a "No cold callers" sticker. I may be exaggerating slightly.

The final straw for me was when I'd politely thanked a pair of ladies from the JW and when I went to close the door one put her foot in the way..... So rude.

I am grumpy and I don't care, when I finish work and get myself and my son home, I put my PJs on, make dinner and want to speak to or see no-one except my little boy. If I want to see people I'll go out.

The person who owns the door decides what is rude at that door. Sign or no sign.
