  • Just done a coop and fruit/veg shop so need to update my sig. Currently trawling web for marrow recipies as I've got a nice big one to use up.

So far found marrow and sweet corn parcels that sound really nice and marrow rings stuffed with breadcrumbs cheese and pinenuts have most of the ingredient in for those so think that's today sorted as vegan dd and her partner can have the sweet corn one and me and Dh can have the cheesey ones.

Naughty Chinese last night, first one in about 2 months and cheaper than usual as DH is on SW so had boiled rice and no chips.

DS and I have been to Aldeee and Mr S this morning. After shopping at Mr S or Mr T for the last few months I had forgotten just how cheap Aldee is. A big trolley full for £35 and a small basket in Mr S for £17! The Mr S stuff was mainly GF though which is always more expensive and did include GF beer and hair dye.

We may visit Costco this weekend as they have my protein shakes and chicken on offer. I will also see if thy have a big jar of lazy garlic as couldn't see any in Mr S but this should be it for this month.

DH has a couple of SW RM to keep him fed while I am away 2 nights next week and I am going to use up some turkey mince from the freezer, dodgy peppers and a dodgy courgette and some tinned toms and what not from the cupboards to make a big batch of free SW chilli. I might make a batch of free SW curry too. This will work out much cheaper than the SW RMs which are £3 a go:eek:

I am now on £416.86 against a target of £370. Better than last month (£550+)but still a lot of room for improvement.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%

Trying very hard to stay calm in my dealings with British Gas and Nectar to find out what's happening with points that I've earned from BG and don't ever appear to have been transferred to Nectar. Each of them has said it's the other one's job to deal with it. I have a sneaky feeling that it will end up going precisely nowhere, which is a shame as the points from BG would have been a nice little stash for Christmas.:mad:

My food spending this month has been really erratic!

Yesterday I spent £17.18 in Sainsbos - of which £7.98 was YS and milk for myself, the rest for someone else, helped with a £3 off £20 voucher. Now have a load of ready roll pastry in my freezer....ready to roll out in December :xmassign:

Plan to perhaps get a few small perishables (fruit and salad) in between now and next Saturday, but no major shop. I feel like I haven't bought a great deal for actual consumption this month, yet have still spent plenty - I estimate around £80 so far, which is disappointing. Yet I feel very inspired by this thread not to shop excessively!

    Hello All,
I'm a terrible technophobe so please could someone tell me how to do a signature with my GC spends and OS weightloss on that I can keep updated, I think that will be paramount to my success on both threads. Thank you.

    Hi Paula

At the top of the page, there is a green bar with five sections from left to right (FORUM HELP - ETIQUETTE - IMPORTANT - FORUM RULES USER TOOLS). You need to click on the "user tools" section.

When you have done this, you will see a bar running down the left-hand side of the page. Click on "edit signature". this will open up a box containing your signature. Just change it as desired, and then click "save".

Small spends this week so have £67.78 left. This is the first time I have followed the grocery challenge for years but it has really focused my spending and I think I will make it.
    Good luck everyone!

  • Total is so far £195 which is half of the £400 I budgeted. Fantastic! Quite a few NSDs this week as I have made myself take sandwiches and on friday home made lentil soup. Will be having freezer medley tonight.
