I think I'm resigned to the fact that I'm going to exceed my imaginary "budget within a budget" of £200 instead of £400. I have just over a week to go and have plenty of food for the family, but I have to contribute cheese and wine to a couple of social events now, which will take me over the £200. I could probably buy the wine with Nectar points, but the cheese comes from a little indie place, so it's got to be £££. Still, I think I'll only go over the £200 by maybe £20 or so, which is OK, given that I did also stock up on laundry powder and softener this month, so won't need to buy any in November. Not bad for my first month of GC, I think.:)3-6 month EF Challenge Member #19: £3590/£6000.[/B] Craft destash from 22.5.22: 46/200. Not exactly on topic, but I've just been checking my Nectar card balances and, not only do I have £22.00 on there at the moment, so I can buy the wine I need to take to my events, but it also appears that there are over 7,500 Nectar points in my British Gas account that haven't been transferred! If that's the case, then Sainsbug's cheese will have to do, my GC budget is saved and there's a bit for Christmas as well!:j Keeping my fingers crossed - just waiting to hear from BGas.3-6 month EF Challenge Member #19: £3590/£6000.[/B] Craft destash from 22.5.22: 46/200. I've not updated in a long time. Between being away, having flu and having various things to sort out I've just fallen behind.
Happy to say that it's nearly the end of the month & we still have about £14 left to spend! :T :j
So this is from the last 3 weeks??? Spent £23.03 in Morrisons topping up on milk and things, £4.95 in Savers buying toilet paper & cough sweets, £59.64 stocking up on meal making supplies, cat food & treats and a few convenience foods and lastly £16.47 on topping up again on milk and bread & managed to find a few reduced items at really good prices that I sorted into smaller bags and froze. Shouldn't need to buy too much next month so hoping to keep the same budget!
Phew! First strict month & not too bad. :beer:Grocery Challenge: January: /£2140 -
Going iceskating tonight after work and ww. I'll get in at just at 6 and leave in about 5 seconds so I needed something that could be cooked and stored in that time frame. Ended up buying onions and evaporated milk to make cajun pasta.
However when i got home, mum gave me a dish of pasta that i only needed to reheat. Never been so thankful for a dinner in my life
So it'll be cajun pasta over the weekend and some for the freezer! :j

So had another cooking session this morning
Got my lamb shanks in the slow cooker, made some roast pots froze surplus for another time, same with yorkshire puds and cooked a whole bag of carrots too
Enjoyed it and now it won't take me as long to make dinners and will be quicker too. Had some of the fish pie I made the other day for my lunch, that was really yummy
Also cooked a bit of fish that was going to go in the fish pie but wasn't defrosted in time, after I cooked it I froze it again for another dayRead my diaryHere0 -

NSD planned here. I have a tin of soup (baxters, 20p from poundstretcher) for lunch and everything in the house to make dinner. Had my golden syrup porridge for breakfast.
Hopefully tomorrow too, as I'll be the only one in the house - as long as I have teabags and milk, I'm fine :rotfl:I am tempted to go get some eggs and sliced sausage to have a cooked breakfast at the weekend though :A
And one of my colleagues just gave me a bit of her sticky toffee cake. She makes the best one ever!0 -
Did a reasonably sized shop yesterday and spent a total of £20.91 so this month is going well so far. Only one more main shop & one top up shop if necessary left this month so hoping for a reasonable amount to put into my christmas budget which is actually not looking too bad and thinking I probably don't need much more and will be able to start putting the extra money to holiday spending money from next month!
Should be NSDs today, tomorrow, Sunday and Monday - well certainly no planned GC spending before Tuesday!
