Hanging on by a thread... £6.19 left on my self-imposed £200 instead of £400. I can't see it myself, as I've promised to take cheese and wine to a dinner party on Hallowe'en (why couldn't it have been on 1 November? :p But without that, £6.19 would probably be enough for milk and loo rolls (I'm sure my DS eats them!).

Well my puppies actually do  had to clear up four shredded toilet rolls yesterday as DH kindly FORGOT TO SHUT THE SHOWEROOM DOOR. *cough* Sorry. And, I had to do it with a dustpan and brush because they've also chewed through the hoover cable and DH keeps FORGETTING TO MEND IT.

    Rant over ;)
  • Just totted up spends so far this month, £166. This seems very low! I feel I may have lost a few receipts. There seems to be lots of food, I may just need to fresh fruit and veg. Very pleased

Welcome to the Fred and good luck with the challenge :D

    Ta! :D

I used to post ages ago but then life got in the way and I had no time to post. Probably cos I was spending my lunchtime at the shops :A

Now, I have to confess that I did still go to the shop yesterday, and I DID buy a dress in M&S (3.99) (and a skirt for my daughter - 99p), but all I spent was 4.98 and it should have been £60 . I'd never have paid £60 for them, but I tried my dress on last night with my gold belt and it'll be awesome for my holiday in summer with a pair of sandals

Anyway, I digress. All fed and watered and no pennies spent yesterday.

I went through the cupboards and the amount of stuff that I have is mental, but sometimes I just draw such a mental blank when it comes to putting it all together - even though I'm a good cook. It's made a bit more difficult due to the fact that I'm still following ww so need to be careful what I'm having every day.

Spent 33p on a bottle of orange squash to help kick my pepsi habit (that I developed when trying to lose weight, cos it filled my belly :o). Daughter has her packed lunch and snack with her, and I have my soup again. Dinner will be leftovers tonight, so no cooking either.

  • Had a look through the recipes on the first few posts on this thread and had a bit of a mad cooking sesh. yesterday afternoon :)
    I made:
    Banana muffins
    Fish pie (to freeze)
    Wedges (for dinner)
BBQ marinade (SOOOO yummy!!) for my gammon steaks
I do love cooking so was nice to make yummy things from bits I had in stock and it's nice to have something different rather than the same old things!!

I am away until Friday and DH is concerned about sticking to his SW plan so have nipped into Iceland to buy 4 of their SW ready meals to keep him going. Also bought some potato waffles for me and DS for quick meals and will be having some for lunch today:) I also spent £11 on dinner, snacks and tomorrows breakfast in Mr T but this comes off expenses (goes on a works CC) so I don't count it even though the odd item gets used outside of work if \I buy a pack of something for instance.

£13.50 to add brings me to £359.88 against a target of £370 for the calendar month. We will go over when I do a shop at the weekend but I am really pleased with the total compared with what we have spent the last few months. This is my first GC in a long while so it shows that extra focus does work:)

NSD today :j and when I got my winter coat out, I found £1.50 in the pocket! :j Going to visit a friend this evening and wanted to take something. Not really enough spare cash for flowers, so quickly whipped up a batch of chocolate muffins, which means it's still a NSD and I've thought a bit more creatively rather than just popping out and spending! Quite pleased with that. :) Nice to be getting more OS again; that's the kind of thing I used to do all the time and people really appreciated it.

    Hi everyone,

Welcome to the thread PJ1 and freyasmum :) Lovely to have you with us here.

Dizzy - Your post about the loo rolls did make me laugh! and I feel your pain re: vets bills. Our dog was ill a few weeks ago and the bill was just shy of £1,000. Lucky us to have insurance - however - due to his age etc.etc. we are only getting 25% of the bill back. Utter rip off!!!

Our budget is looking remarkably okay. I have shopped weekly in Aldi this month, using cash. I also had a £100 budget for other shop spends on my credit card, so budget currently stands at £420.65/£450. My budget ends tomorrow so a significant underspend - don't think it's ever been that much. The best bit is, I've only spent £57 in Tesco all month - usually spend several hundred. This makes me extremely happy as I loathe Tesco, but my nearest one is 500yds from my front door.

Hope everyone else is going well.

I'm really annoyed tonight. I spent £6.50 on absolute rubbish tonight after work, including chocolate, crisps and sweets, so my budget has taken a hammering, and my diet has been ruined for this week. Oh well, i'll start again tomorrow. I shouldn't need any more GC spends until my new GC month starts on Monday.

I hope you are all doing better than me!
