  • I've totally failed this month ...I had a target of £320 and have spent £507 (mostly due to a number if visitors I hadn't planned for and a few takeaways and not taking packed lunches on most days)......anyway no point dwelling, I'm making a monthly food plan and treating October as a much needed wake up call!!!!

Been busy but have been keeping an eye on my spending, most days have been NSDs and have £83 left in the food budget, which is useful as both DD and DS are home this weekend as its DD birthday, so will need to buy few extras.
I am pleased I have started my Christmas shopping both food and presents, buying when I have seen offers. My food shops also included some non perishables. Im hoping this will make December shop cheaper as I know its going to be an expensive month.
    Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

    Morning all,

Just added up my spending for October and I came in £4.90 under budget. Am somewhat surprised as I did not remain totally focussed, but menu planning certainly helped. I have put the savings aside into a separate pot to save for a rainy day fund.

On to November for me now, and I will try and get online more this coming month.

    Evening all,
Did weekly shop today and spent £26.49 bringing my total up to£43.31. Haven't yet worked out whether this averages out to my weekly limit or not, but will do. All other days were NSD. Today's shop was more than I hoped it would be but I saw bits I needed that I'd forgotten to put on list and also other things I wasn't aware of that will be useful.
If this works out ok I'm hoping to try to drop budget a little bit next month. Problem I've found is I used to have shopping delivered, now do it myself as you have to have over £40 to get cheaper delivery charge, but the store I'm going to is only a Metro and doesn't stock all of the value items I'd normally buy. Very irritating! Wondering whether I could do two fortnightly shops and go back to delivery but that will take a lot more planning. Still, I'm up for the challenge!
    Good luck everyone else,
    See you in November!
    Luv Paula x

NSD today - finally! Definitely going to go over the £200 tomorrow, there's no avoiding it. But still way, way better than my £400 estimate for my first GC :j I'm confident that I can drop to £300 for next month, although December will probably go up quite a bit as I'm catering for the wider family, will have both kids home and my chap up for four weekends out of five :j:j:smileyheaStill, it's keeping me focussed, there has been no waste food and I've been far less reliant on convenience foods. No takeaways at all! But I do need to give some more thought to my packed lunches. There's only so much tuna a girl can stand! :rotfl:
