I have done the weekly shop a couple of days early as I came back from a couple of days away with work and the cupboard was bare!
£49.09 spent, all on food. I was going to go to Alddeee but ended up at Mr S as I needed a few GF staples like oats and beer (separate budget) that I cant get at aldeee.
I will still need to get SW ready meals from 1c3land for DH and some chicken and protein shakes from C0stc0 at the weekend.
My total stands at £292.72 leaving me £77.28 to last until 29th October. I will probably go over a little as I have the RMs, chicken and next week's shop to do but won't be far over. This month's budget is significantly less than we have spent over the last few months so we are heading in the right direction.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

I popped in for milk tonight, and ended up getting a few YS items: tomatoes, salad dressing and spinach. I wish my freezer was emptier as there was lots of good bread going cheap.
In all I spent £ 3.51, which leaves my budget pretty grim for the rest of the month! I've still got loads of grub in though, so should make it through to 26th (start of my new month) without going over by much.
My main problem with spending is that it becomes such a habit. I am used to going to the supermarket a couple of times a week and I feel strange if I don't! This GC is helpful, because it makes me think a lot before I spend money on stuff I simply won't use!2025 goals

I agree completely! Just eaten a truly delicious curry from our local but am now fretting over the £22.96 it costGood value though, as there's enough for me to have for lunch tomorrow and we are all stuffed.
Got an Asda and a Tesco deliver coming tomorrow at opposite ends of the day, which, with luck, will more or less see us through to the end of October, barring fruit, bread and milk :j0 -

I work from home and always used to have the leftovers for lunch the next day but now I make sure to freeze everything. OH is very, very attached to Friday night curry but I am on a diet so there is always some left. Every 3 weeks or so we have enough odds and ends left for a Thali which feels like a free meal. I also made a big batch of dhal in the slow cooker a while back and froze that into portions which we are still making our way through.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

A bit of a "spendy" day today. £21.82 from the grocery budget (£7.83 left to stick to the £200 I would love to achieve, but way below the £400 that was my estimate for this first month of GC), £3.70 on craft materials to allow me to de-stash loads of card, paper, fabric and threads on HM Christmas cards and a bit of tinned food shopping for the food bank. I think I'm going to keep my food bank purchases and other cash donations to charity separate from my grocery budget. I know I'm trying to keep to my budget, but the work I do supports a lot of families to access food banks in times of crisis, so I still want to support them if I can. Even now I'm having to tighten my own belt, I'm still much better off than a lot.3-6 month EF Challenge Member #19: £3590/£6000.[/B] Craft destash from 22.5.22: 46/200. Can I ask how you make dhal in the slow cooker please? I've only made it a couple of times but if I could do it in the SC that would be even better. Could just freeze portions and pull out when needed.
Thanks.
