BMI is definitely a blunt tool, but it's got some value. Guess with all of these things - whether it's bmi, using mfp, etc, it comes down to having some common sense and not relying on it as some unalterable truth.
I know when I was using mfp the other year, some people would use obviously incorrect entries and then not be able to understand why things weren't working as they thought. If you find an entry that says a huge family size packet of crisps has got 60 calories, you can probably assume that's wrong!0 -

Will give it a go next time I'm in the gym. Tried using it with mapmyfitness last night and it wouldn't record either exercise bike or treadmill as I wasn't changing location. Was really counting on the 20mins of activity to get the points up.
I thought bounts would be really motivational but am just too easily annoyed :rotfl:. Have only got 115 stupid points!0 -
Yeah, I think it's gonna take a while for the points to add up! But I guess if you have something measuring your steps anyhow, then it's something for nothing and it'll get there eventually! :rotfl: I'm just hoping that I get another good spin on the wheel!
Any news off police baby yet? (Apologies if I've missed an update)0 -
Got an email from him last night saying he was on nights so didn't call (fair enough - the email was sent at 2am!) He said he'd got the online report I sent yesterday (the phone call, flowers and letter from FOH's mum). Can't actually see him until Sunday when he's back on days but he's said he'll come round then and get another statement and then speak to FOH.
So basically all just dragging it out even further. Am so tempted to just call FOH, arrange for him to get his stuff and then draw a line under everything. But I appreciate that probably wouldn't work - but it seems about as productive as the current police approach.0 -
Tea police baby can arrange for a police presence when FOH collects his stuff worth thinking about.

BMI is a big crock. My dad went to see the dr and they said using that as an aid he was obese. Used a wrist measurement and said he was fine.
Go figure.
I know that I am approx 3 and half stone over weight. Just confirmed it by using the wrist measurement method. That I am 3st and 4lbs over weight. And that is the top limit for my height.
I have such a bad relationship with food. And not sure how to get back on track with it all.

What's the wrist measurement method? All I can see is that it guesstimates your frame. It says I have a small frame but I don't agree, I have a sturdy pear shape that isn't reflected in my tiny wrists!
Not sure about activity trackers on phones etc but was chatting to a work bud about her Fitbit and she told me that her Fitbit will only track steps on a treadmill if you don't hold on, if you do hold on and you're not doing the 'proper' walking movement it won't track. No good for me, on the rare occasions I go on a treadmill I hang on for dear life!
It's really hard to change your relationship with food as you can't just go cold turkey. You *have* to eat to survive so it's never simple, is it?Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Noo!! I have to hold on, I've had two 'flying off the back' incidents! :rotfl:
Relationship with food is so tricky isn't it? Mine is incredibly unhealthy. Good day - celebrate with food. Bad day - commiserate with food. Bored day - liven up with food. Endo pain - chocolate will help. Urge to call stalker ex - eating body weight in ice cream will help. Boss is annoying - cheesy chips are clearly the answer.
You get the idea.
ETA: Birdie - we are just 1lb apart at the moment! I'm 150!0 -

Thats really spooky are you a mind reader?
I nearly wrote that myself about going cold turkey. But did not in case people got worried I was going to not eat.

I really hope to hit the magic 150 mark next week! It's pretty much the only thing stopping me from eating a massive slice of chocolate fudge cake right now! I'm going to find it really difficult to reach my target weight, as I don't think I've been anywhere near it for around 10 years but I really want to get as close as I can. I'm sick of being self conscious and being the dumpy one when I'm with my gorgeous friends.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary.
