Tbh, unless he's taking a stupidly long time in the shower then I'd just let this one slide. He's paying his rent (ok, so not fully his month, but usually) which should more than cover any increase in any bills. How long are we talking here?
.
I am not taken offence by anything that anyone is saying.
At least 10mins everyday.
The point I was trying to make mentioning the loo roll is that he never buys any the same with milk, bread, toothpaste etc. I am not here to sub him or provide him with everything. And when someone has already said when I mentioned I am on a water meter. fine I can have a shower at work then backtracked. just annoys me.
In house shares loo rolls and household stuff is extra to the rent. And everyone chips in. But I am paying for everything household related.
Also what has peed me off is this tablet business. I let him short pay me this month by £50 as he was saying it was going to be tight and then he spends £80 on tablet that was a want and not a need. He has £300 smart phone that can access the internet but that is not good enough.
He has no concept of anything financial. I have asked him why do you think you are in the mess you are? Yes that would £300 smart phones and takeaways 3/4 times a week. Does it sink ummm nope.

HBS x
Read Elsien's post again, HBS! I remember when she was made redundant, and she said all the things you are saying, yet it turned out really well for her.
It'll turn out well for you too. Maybe even a lot better!
Easy for me to say, I know, being the eternal warrior. But I'm sure it will. And then you'll have a brand new job and a nest-egg!
In the meantime more hugs:-

Surely everyone keeps their bananas in the cistern?
This reminds me - a weird thing happened last night. I was coming downstairs and heard a noise like something falling over. Assumed P cat had knocked something over as we were the only ones there. It wasn't a particularly loud, heavy noise - more like him knocking over a plastic bottle or something like that.
P cat was asleep in the living room. Went in the kitchen and there was a piece of wood in the middle of the floor, about the size of a banana lol. Still have no idea where on earth it came from - it's really bugging me.jobbingmusician wrote: »tea - could it be something like a drawer runner? Or, possibly, when the kitchen was done, there may have been a couple if bits left over that were stashed on top of the wall units and one fell off?
Can you post a pic of the bit of wood?
And yes, Fly, how did you do in your first day as an astronaut?:D

So much going on! So many people dealing with things, just keeping on keeping on. Good luck to you all.
A challenge to those of you who like to find things - I need to get some slippers. The spec is that they are warm and cosy and not slip on, ie they have a back, size 3, and with a 2" heel. Possibly some fabric shoes might do. Most slippers are flat, or backless, or peeptoe and I can't find anything suitable. For a little old lady with ankle problems, hence the need for a heel. There are heeled ones in red with spindly heels and feathers on the front, but not really her style!Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0 -

I guess that's why it's important to sit him down and work out the house rules, and then you both know where you stand.
I'm maybe seeing it from a different point of view. As to me, a house share you usually pay your rent to the landlord and then each person buys their own stuff. But if I was moving in with a friend, I would probably have assumed (unless told otherwise) that my rent covered household related things, apart from any food I wanted or stuff I used that the other person didn't usually.
Maybe that's how he is seeing it too? Just offering up a different view point.
Curious as to what teas piece of wood is now too!0 -
Can't find any slippers that fit the criteria. I am wondering if heel lifts/elevators that may fit inside the slipper would increase the range of options
This is an example but not for this lady

I would speak to Age UK or someone qualified though before buying because I think you would need to be careful about the fit and possibilities of accidents/slippage. They may have recommendations. Also I haven't looked into whether there are fluffy covered inserts.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0
