DH is most impressed with my new sports bra. (I am sure snooker is not nearly as interesting).

You're in a tough situation Calley, it's more like he's moved in as an adult child rather than a lodger! Is there any advice on the housing section as to what can and can't be expected of a lodger? I'd stop doing his washing and cooking food for him for starters unless the favour was repaid regularly. Maybe make a point of clearing space in the fridge and cupboard for his food, coffee and milk etc and let him know that he's expected to use his own, allocate him his own loo and tell him to buy his own toilet paper and keep it clean... or bump his lodge up by another £50 to cover all of these 'incidentals'.

I do his washing so I have a full load. As other wise its going to be an even bigger water bill LOL!!!!

I only cook for him if I am cooking for myself something like spag bog as I make too much for much self. And sometimes it nice to have a meal with someone.

But I am going to stop being so nice and having so much in the house. I am going to stop buying tea as I don't even drink the dam stuff. And get him to buy milk the next time it runs out.

I have told him I am not his mum, girlfriend or wife. He got all huffy the other day when I said you do your thing and I will do mine. He did not like that at all.

Mind you I did ask him if I could have an hour or so of his time a week to help me do bits and pieces in the house.

He is hardly here as he is often with his daughter which is nice for him but he has to stay in the flat with his ex as no where to take his daughter. He will learn.

    Anyway time to go.

    Yours

    Calley

Me and hubby love Firefly! We have the board game, but be warned anyone tempted to get it, it can be rather long winded!

I'm sure you will find something soon HBS, you have enough of us here rooting for you. Same goes for you too Melly!

Calley could you have a chat with him and explain that you need to set some house rules so you both know where you stand? Put it to him that you don't want him to feel uncomfortable when you have to bring things up, and that you don't want to feel awkward mentioning things, so get it all out in the open. Either that it lock all the toilet paper away and make him earn it doing chores!!

I haven't gone out and done any errands yet, cuddled up with Escapette and Little Sod by the fire. Really enjoying it, but it's making me dread work tomorrow even more.

Oh, and had a plumber out today to fix the toilet. He dribbled toilet water over a bunch of my bananas. Would anyone still eat them?

I am now very intrigued about the layout of your bathroom/kitchen! :D

The bananas were in a fruit bowl in the kitchen, the bathroom is above the kitchen and he managed to flood my bathroom with toilet water so it came through the ceiling and dripped into my fruit bowl.

    Or

I keep my bananas in the toilet cistern to keep them fresh

Now for a game of truth or lie. Spot the true statement :D

Surely everyone keeps their bananas in the cistern? :D

This reminds me - a weird thing happened last night. I was coming downstairs and heard a noise like something falling over. Assumed P cat had knocked something over as we were the only ones there. It wasn't a particularly loud, heavy noise - more like him knocking over a plastic bottle or something like that.

P cat was asleep in the living room. Went in the kitchen and there was a piece of wood in the middle of the floor, about the size of a banana lol. Still have no idea where on earth it came from - it's really bugging me.

My lodger has well peed me off. He always seems to have the water running a long time when having a shower 1st thing in the morning. he has short hair. Unless washing my hair I jump in and out. Asked him by text this morning why he is so long in the shower. I shave in the shower!!! I said what. Thats what a basin is for. Even I don't shave in the shower. He seems to forget that I am on a water meter. And told me before he moved not to worry he has a shower at work he can use. Then said oh no its manky. Time to make him pull his weight!!!!

I mean no offence when I say this, it's merely my point of view on things. :)

Tbh, unless he's taking a stupidly long time in the shower then I'd just let this one slide. He's paying his rent (ok, so not fully his month, but usually) which should more than cover any increase in any bills. How long are we talking here?

A lot of men do shave in the shower, and so I guess if it's something he's always done, then I'd just let him carry on or otherwise, you lend up coming across like a sergeant major or his mother!

Eta: just caught up on the thread and read the above. I think you need to sit down with him and lay out some ground rules. I'd just let the toilet roll thing slide too, as how's that going to work? You each swap your toilet roll on and off when you go to the loo?! Makes sense to do both your washing in one go though to keep bills down. If he drinks tea and you don't, then that's something he should be buying himself. But as for other things, he's maybe thinking a lot of things are covered under the £300. If not, then he needs to be told.
  • Hugs (((code))) and (((HBS))) Sorry to hear you're feeling blue code :( and sorry to hear about both you and your OH being made redundant HBS. I hope you both manage to get something else soon.

Big well done on the money saving things Birdie! We're awful for not getting things sorted, and have been meaning to change home and contents insurance providers for ages now.

Could he have bought the wood in Tea, and then ran off and pretended to be asleep when he heard you coming?

He could well have pretended to be asleep, little monkey that he is :D But he hasn't been outside for months (very much a fair weather cat!) so no idea where he could have got it from.

It was as if it had fallen out of the ceiling - but no holes I could see (fortunately!)

Any decision on the bananas?? :D
