Grr...now the friend who changed the weekend away to a day out has announced she's not even getting there till lunchtime. Am seriously hacked off.
I'd be seriously tempted to tell her "do you know what? Forget about it. You keep on chopping and changing what we're doing and it's annoying not having proper plans". :mad:0 -
Argh that is so annoying Tea! I thought it was just me that rubbish like this happens to! Glad you've seen sense about contacting FOH, absolutely, definitely, a no-no!
As for my bum-flash episode, my skirt isn't that short, it's just quite a floaty material and quite swishy in general, I may have just caught a good breeze with my swoosh!
Glad the collection people eventually arrived! So annoying that you have had to wait around so long. I don't mind (too much) waiting for something to arrive, because you have something to play with once they eventually turn up, but to wait so long for them to take something away and not even give you a chocolate bar isn't on!!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Waves to everyone that need them. Might take me a while to catch up, ten pages with to read!
Have had a rough week with bad anxiety and not great thoughts. Have struggled with being away from Escapette, even to the point of not wanting to leave the room.
Counsellor today says she thinks that I have past trauma I have suppressed, and am struggling with separation anxiety and issues with attachment. No idea if she is right or not, just know that this is the worst I have felt in a while.
In other news, hubby is looking at doing a training course. A man came round today to talk to us about this course. He seemed to do a bit of a hard sell, and didn't leave any literature to read. I got a feeling it was a con, but don't know if that's just my current state of mind. Hubby thinks it's genuine but asked my opinion. He can't remember the name of the company this man is from, and the college the course is through has never had it's name mentioned. It's is building site related. Have any if you HSE people heard of any scams like this or is it me being paranoid?0 -
See if you can get the name of the company Welly. I have training provider contacts and I'm sure tea and fly do too.
Also what it is can let you know good reasonably priced ones then (I am always on a course cpd needs it)
Today I managed 2 spoons of porridge and half a baked potato.0 -
I haven't heard about the job so guessing my panic was all for naught.
Watching Graham Norton. I want to be like Miriam Margolyes when I'm older! She's awesome.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
If they can't even leave any literature to read Welly then they don't sound that trustworthy tbh. Any company worth their salt and wanting to get you to sign up would leave you something to read about their course surely?
That's really good Melly. Hope you're feeling abit better and managed to get some sleep.
I always forget about Graham Norton as I always have another channel on. At the moment I'm watching Big Brother. I'm not really sure who Miriam Margolyes is tbh? *goes to google*0 -
Welly - never heard of anyone going round to someones house to "sell a course". Does not sound legitimate to me. PM me the details if you like and I will let you know. If you can't find the course or the college on the internet - it is unlikely to be genuine. I have worked for many consultancy and training companies, offering mainly construction industry courses and it was always done via normal selling techniques - i.e. a website and customers would phone and book the course. Any legitimate course will be mentioned by CITB and come up commonly on internet and be offered by a number of providers. Sounds most dodgy to me, but if you let me or us know the name of the course I am sure we can advise further.0

Miriam Margolyes is wonderful, had no idea she was on CBB (and am a bit sad that she is. She should be a much bigger star than that.)
Agree that this thread moves too quickly! It's a real commitment even skimming it quickly.
But I have to mention that Calvin and Hobbes are a serious THING. They are incredibly philosophical, and beautifully drawn. And you need to know that Hobbes is only a live tiger when there isn't a grownup in the picture.

my first instinct was, what the ....?
What Georgie and Flybaby have said is quite right. It all sounds a bit dodgy. I guess the course involves parting with a lot of money?
Sending someone round sounds like he's on commission for getting people to sign up.
No literature is very iffy indeed.
You're deffo not being paranoid.
Can you not deal with the college direct?
I wouldn't sign up to or pay for anything until you're very sure, and deffo not to pay the guy anything.(I just lurve spiders!)

Don't know how I've never come across them. I think perhaps they fell into that wilderness period between one's own children being too old for it and myself not having reached the second childhood I'm now in!:D:D:rotfl: :cool::cool:
I love the descriptive way Calvin speaks! What a great way to teach children new words! I was also very impressed with the way the author resisted all merchandising apart from books.
Were they just in books in the UK or were they in any newspapers?
The last comic strips I read regularly were ones like Andy Capp and The Larks in the very distant past as a child, when my father used to buy the Daily Mirror. As an adult, I never bought papers on a regular basis, only now and then for the crosswords.(I just lurve spiders!)
