Anti depressants are used to treat anxiety DM, so don't rule out a discussion with your GP as to whether they would help you. (That may also help CBT to be more effective):heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Thanks Whitewing. I've been looking at St. John's Wort recently too. Think I might pick some up to see if that helps too. I just can't go on as things are, changes need to happen.
Enough talking the talk. I need to walk the walk.0 -
DM, go to the GP - don't try and treat this yourself m'dear.

I've been to the GP once before and she referred me for some an appointment with someone from a mental health team. Either I covered up well or this is genuinely all in my head because she said I didn't need to see her again.
I can't open up about what I view as my failings - even this is very difficult for me. I'm trying to help myself. I can't get past the feeling that I'll be judged harshly so I just close in on myself.
I'm opening up to my husband and he's been ok. Don't think he understands it but he's trying. Obviously he's just worried about me.
Irrational thoughts and anger are par for the course. More anger at myself for not being cleverer, more efficient, better organised etc but that does seep into your interactions with other people when you're frustrated.0 -
write down some bullet points. Post on here if you want. Give examples of how it affects daily life. We will try and help you phrase it better (or tell you that it is good enough). Then take that to the GP to discuss possible medication. Tell the GP you will access CBT through work.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. No idea if this applies (so just ignore me if necessary lol) but bear in mind that SJW can interact with oral contraceptives.0 -

And other medications.
I am working from home today and just had crisps and chocolate for lunch. Oops. Feel tired and wired at the same time.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
Ooh I hate that feeling code, body knackered but mind wind awake.
I feel snotty and sorry for myself. Can't decide if I've actually got a cold (certainly enough of them around) or it's a side effect of cutting the opiate use. Probably both!0 -
code, you should be eating properly..

I bought D one for his office once as he really doesn't get out at all during the week. It was one for his desk, but it was so bright that it distracted him (maybe he didn't give it a proper chance?), and so it went back.
Well, This is the first day I've had the SAD box, but I intend to have it on all the time I'm home, at least to start with, to try and get the maximum benefit.
I have the most powerful one I could find. It has five tubes, so it is extremely bright. However, this model has two switches, so you can have two, three or all five tubes on.
The medical-quality treatment is all five on, 22" away, (giving 10,000 lux at that distance), for 20-30 minutes, positioned just to one side of your direct vision, and you glance into it every few minutes. I did that first thing, but now it's just on, a bit further away. That's why I got the floor-stand, so that I can have it at the height I want, and in exactly the place I want, in any room. It does come with a desktop stand, and there is an optional wall bracket you can buy.
At 4 feet 6" away, it gives 2,500 lux, so the effect is less the further away it is, but that's ok if you have it on for long periods.
It is very bright, as I said, but the blurb said it takes a bit of getting used to, so you can start with fewer tubes on if you want to, and build up your tolerance. It's ok if you wear glasses, as long as they're not tinted.
I'm just going for broke! I may be a bit late starting....it recommended starting in September/October, but hope for the best!
Disorganised_Me, lots of us on here know just how you're feeling.
You can say as much or as little as you want to, or just chat! There's no pressure to reveal anything. Some days, as you probably know, all we do is just general chat. I find that helps a lot!
You certainly won't be judged harshly. In fact, you won't be judged at all! If there's one thing about this thread, it's that people are very accepting. We've all got our 'failings', and we accept everyone else's!(I just lurve spiders!)
