Welly - is there any possibility that actually your mum said that because she is jealous of MIL getting to spend time with Escapette? you have the option to leave escapette in the one to one care of a loving family member rather than a nursery with multiple children to care for - no debate.
  • I thought the only reason to go to Gretna was if you were 16 and wanted to get married!

Been there done that ;) Ok, I wasn't 16, but the second part is true! :rotfl:

Ugh. I don't know how you lot with severe insomnia cope. Have had 30 minutes sleep tonight. I am so tired but my heart is racing and my body is shaking and I feel like I'm going mad.

What does a lightbox do? Is it one of those SAD thingies?
I always fancied one of those alarm clocks that mimic sunrise instead of nasty loud noises at silly o'clock but they're a lot of money if you're not sure it'll actually work.

Yes, a lightbox is for SAD. It uses full-spectrum tubes. A proper one is medical quality and VAT exempt. (You have to be a bit careful because the wrong bulbs can emit too much UV).
I got mine from The SAD Shop in the end, as I was also getting the optional floor stand, which is also VAT exempt, if ordered with the light box, and I needed to be sure what day it was coming, so I'd be in.

I have a sunrise clock, too, but it's not for treating SAD. It uses ordinary bulbs. It's great, though! Mine is an Oregon. The light starts to come on half an hour before you want to be awake, and gradually increases in intensity. Then at the 'alarm' time, the radio comes on as well. There are other alarm options, a normal bell or another with 'natural sounds', too. I'm usually already awake by the time the radio comes on. You can also set it to do the reverse at night, which is great if you are prone to falling asleep with the light on! Of course, you can also just turn the light on as normal, too!
There are other models with fewer features/no radio, etc. but I like to have lots of options on things!

I have this one - can't recommend it highly enough.

(((code))), are you able to stay at home today?

I rarely get it that bad, but it means the whole days is spent in full "zombie mode", albeit without the need to eat human brains. Any work that I do I have to go back and check the following day, as I'll probably have done something wrong or even if it works, very badly.

Oh, and driving is really dangerous as it is so hard to maintain concentration.

  • Loves to you code! Can you work from home?

Hugs (((code))) Hope you're able to work from home, or at the very least, hope the day goes fast for you.

I was about to put nobody come near me until I've had these two strong cups of coffee, a(as I couldn't drop off until 2am, but I think I slept from then?) sounds like you've had a worse night though :( Take care if you have to travel to work x x

Pyxis, how many hours a day do you put your light on for? Is it something you have on all day? I bought D one for his office once as he really doesn't get out at all during the week. It was one for his desk, but it was so bright that it distracted him (maybe he didn't give it a proper chance?), and so it went back.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

WaS, what does your American friend do to celebrate? Send her our best wishes.

code and HBS, sorry about your troubles today. Hope your day gets better.

I have got 3 (birthday) presents out of my house today and sorted some toiletries out for next week's school mufti day (they make hampers for the raffles).

Hopefully DH will arrive with brunch soon. He is full of pre-Christmas grumps. (Sorry, code, for using the C word).

    Faerie, how are you doing?

I was going to write my Xmas cards for my customers today (tea, your procrastination is catching as there are more important jobs I could be doing), but I have left the blooming things at home.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • Guys,

Thank you very much for the warm welcome. It's appreciated!

I'm a chronic procrastinator to the point that it's ruining my life. I hate it so you have my sympathy Tea!

It is that destructive that I'm going to look for some counselling, perhaps CBT would help. I think I can access it through my work but I'm prepared to pay cos it's that bad.

I've got big exams and I'm going to fail, which may affect my job. This has been the kick up the backside to do something about it.

It permeates every aspect of my life and its so destructive that I'm anxious all the time.

Even writing this now has created anxiety - that you all think I'm a fool, that I'll have put something in my post that's a big fat PENGUIN and will unintentionally hurt someone else.

Have any of you gotten thru something like this? It's funny as on the surface you would think that I'm a confident person but I have all this conflict inside of me!

I think I've finally hit rock bottom. Only upwards from here though eh?!
