  • And, DM, I keep thinking you ought to contact your local Mind. That's because your avatar is like the 'before' bit of the Mind logo! Out of chaos, and all that :)

(And I should confess that you are talking to one of the world's other great procrastinators. :( )

You certainly won't be judged harshly. In fact, you won't be judged at all! If there's one thing about this thread, it's that people are very accepting.

De-lurking just to say, that's why I love reading this thread. It's so warm, fluffy and lovely that it restores my faith in humanity.

I'll just leave some homemade mince pies and skulk back into my quiet little corner now...

Our fort is a polygon, it has so many corners.

I am quietly celebrating my best month in a decade for my -very small - business.

I am laughing at the Aldi spoof of the John Lewis advert.

I am warmed by the clip of the father and small child in the aftermath of the Paris attacks, where the father tells the child, 'they have guns, we have flowers'. I won't link it in, in case people are avoiding but the clip is worth watching for the small boy's smile at his father.

I also am getting through my 'becoming organised' tasks at work - surfaces cleared and cleaned, stationery sorted through, report done, a couple of email to be sent now.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

Aw ww. I saw that last night. It's really beautiful. That lovely dad making his little boy feel safe again. I tear up a little every time I watch it.

Hi Izadora. Now I'm singing Wizadora.

Managed 2 15 minute naps but feel worse now.

I need to reply to an email to my boss (who's annoying me greatly already!) saying that no, I don't want to go to a last minute site visit tomorrow. I've got a cold, I don't want to go out in freezing weather in full RPE. I don't want to have to rearrange yet another day as this site visit should have happened today, should have happened twice last week, but as ever gets left.

I just want to wfh in my pjs and feel sorry for myself.

But I need to word that in such a way that I sound enthusiastic and hard-working!

Hmmm that's a tricky one tea. You need to phrase it in such a way that it seems like a better idea that you wfh in your jammies. Maybe something like 'that's a great idea but I'd rather take the time tomorrow to work on x and y. Could the site visit wait for another day?'

Or you could explain that you're not feeling well and it's a bad idea from a h&s perspective.

  • I'm just going to visit all the corners of the fort to drop off mulled wine and yet more mince pies. (Classy shop bought ones, but not a patch on home made!) I may be some time. Welcome, Izadora! :hello: :)

    (Love the polygon comment!)

I may have given into temptation and watched a Christmas movie. So ashamed.

I phrased it that next week would be better, as I wasn't planning on being in the office tomorrow, but was happy to come in if that was easier. Bit of a risk putting the onus on him to decide as he's an utter workaholic - the fact that it would be at least a 5 hr round trip for him on a Friday wouldn't normally be enough to put him off.

But something worked! Maybe the fact that I mentioned in passing that I'd got the office cold lol. It would be a bit mean for him to make me wear a face-fitted mask for hours when I can't breathe properly as it is.

    Phew.

My probationary period ends tomorrow! Maybe he thinks I'll now be really stroppy and all efforts to make a good first impression are well and truly over.

    What was it code?? :D
  • Was it the best Christmas movie ever? In other words 'Muppets Christmas Carol' or a very close second, 'Miracle on 34th Street' :D

Hope your boss is kind tea and you don't have to go in tomorrow :)
