WaS,
Sorry to hear that about your friend. But at least he knows that he has you to talk to.
I once had an attack of something. I was in sainsburys in the biscuit aisle trying to choose some biscuits. All I wanted to do was sit down and cry. I was twitching and shaking. Lucky no one saw me.
Never had that again. Once I gained my composure I left san biscuits.

Yes, WaS, sounds to me like you're already doing loads for him, despite your phone phobia! That's true friendship. :A(I just lurve spiders!)

Aw, thank you and I am sorry that happened, Calley. I rarely have panic attacks now largely due to my medication. My teacher friend has previously had really bad ones complete with chest pains as if he is having a heart attack. He loses the ability to speak and shakes all over. It's been so long since he had one that this really caught him unawares which made it far worse. Poor guy is also worried in case it's something else like dementia beginning. I am grateful that he felt he could call me though, I am the only person left in his life from when he was having them regularly so I am so pleased that I could be there for him.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

As the mice from bagpuss sing
We will find it
We will bind it
We will stick it with glue glue glue
We will stickle it
Every little bit of it
We will fix it like new new new

I love Bagpuss. It is my ambition to acquire a Bagpuss cuddly, I have wanted one for years. They tend to be expensive though. I might even have a Bagpuss DVD...Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I got two and they were won from the machines at the seaside.
One is a big one with glitter in its fur and the other is beanie one.
I also have the DVD.

I hope they bring back Bagpuss, like they did with the Clangers. They were made by the same person. I think they're talking about it!(I just lurve spiders!)

Well done WaS! Brilliant that you were able to support him, and I'm sure you talked him down beautifully.
Pyxis, just go back on the 5:2 for sugar reasons, don't worry about the weight, just do it for general health and the weight will look after itself(And the 5:2 is very MSE as you find that you are magically spending far less on food.....)

onomatopoeia99, I am so jealous!
In more amusing news it has reached that time of year when Milliefleur asks for a list of things I want for my birthday. She likes a long list so she can choose things that are still a bit of a surprise. WaSp saw her today and gave her my list. It went as follows-
Socks -socks aren't a gift they are a necessity
Cuddly toy -she doesn't need anymore
Colouring books and pens -She's in her 40's!
Slippers - I bought them for her last year
Scarf -see above
Chocolates -see above
Biscuits - see above
Ornaments -She doesn't need clutter (I like clutter)
Kitchen things like wooden spoons and baking decorations - That's not a gift!
Make-up - I can't see the colours to choose
Clothes -see above
Scented candles - They are dangerous for her
So, as she dismissed my list she wants a new one! Any ideas anyone? I am scared to ask for toiletries and perfume because last time I did that she ignored what I'd asked for a bought a £75 gift set and she cannot afford that! I go through this every year, to Milliefleur a gift is something completely self-indulgent with no practical purpose, if she would accept practical things I could make a list as long as my arm. I think I am really easy to buy for but she finds me very difficult because I tend to lean towards either very childish things (I am too old for that!) or things that I can make use of. I need something very cheap so that she doesn't spend money that she hasn't got!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
