Hello
Quick backgroud, i have been working away and left my phone at work in a secure locker. I come home and see nearly £1000 transfered over a period of 2 weeks.
Phoned the bank and they said the money was sent using the app on my mobile. I dont know how it has happened im worried sick about it. Has this happened to anyone.
Its a fair amount of money for me so im scared the bank wont refund me. Any advice would be appreciated.

Where was the money transferred to?
In my experience, most of the mobile apps will only allow you to transfer money to an already existing payment arrangement.
For a new payment to be setup, someone needs to have accessed your account on the actual online banking website.0 -
It was transfered to an account from barclays (im with lloyds) to someone i have never heard of.
So someone has targeted me for some reason. Im going to ditch all this online banking stick to branches.
I have no idea what to do and if im going to get money back.0 -
Was there any sign of forced entry into the locker? Do you know of anyone with a spare key?
Fortunately it hasn't happened to me but I'm not that comfortable with apps on my phone. I keep the apps for my bank accounts on a tablet which is passcoded and never leaves the house. Maybe that's a half way house that would be useful, if you don't want to lose the convenience?0 -
Thankyou for the replies. I didnt see any fprced entry but going to check tomorrow when im back in work. Ive asked the bank and they saud the graud team will investigate but im not holding my hopes up.
Yeah a tablet might be the way to go0 -
To do what you say happened someone would have had to set up a new payee on your account. [STRIKE]That cannot be done via the app only via internet banking.[/STRIKE] Therefore they would need to have all your log in and security details and access to your mobile or landline.
Do you know anyone who may have obtained your log in details? Was the verification call that is made when setting up a new payee made to your mobile?
It's possible your mobile phone wasn't used the app could have been installed on another device by someone who knew all your security details.
Correction I have just tried the app and you can set up a new payee.0 -
Another story that we will never hear the conclusion to, probably end up something embarrassing for the OP if it actually happened.0
-
You should also check the call log on your mobile to see if there was an incoming verification call from lloyds. Also check that the correct phone numbers for you are stored in your profile.0
-
Someone would need your memorable information to log into your app so have you told anyone this or written it down anywhere?
Did Lloyds tell you what time this happened for you to narrow down who was at work at that time?
Did they confirm if it was done via the app or whether it was on internet banking desktop site?
Did they confirm how the payment was authenticated?
Have you had your internet banking suspended and/or changed your log in details for security and protection?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. If you can't be the best -
Just be better than you were yesterday.0 -
Another thought: Had you used online or mobile banking over a public or unsecured wifi network?0

I have been very secure with all my details not even the gf knows any of it.
I have used it a fee times in e.g. mcdonalds wifi places like that.
The bank are looking into it atm but dont know the outcome. When it does will post on here.
It feels like the bank dont believe you either way, i banked with them since i was 16 (now 26) and this is the first problem ive had with them.0
