I try and fill up at shell garages, they have a points card and they fuel is cheaper than most places, even the supermarkets.
I use BP so that I can get my nectar points - its also handy to have a cashback credit card and use that for your petrol (just make sure you pay it off in full every month)2020 Mortgage-Free Wannabes #20 £1495.03/£2760 OP0 -
thanks for the tips for my first £1.......! think i might have to pass on some of them though
i think it'd be good to count pigsback vouchers, unless we do it all as pure cash! sooo exciting! i think we should stick with the big target of £1000 - it'll make us more determined and competitive, as you say
but since we've got this thread to discuss it in, we can pass on tips - how amazing would it be if everyone in this group got £1000?!

Well, I'm thinking £1000 would do Christmas and New Year very very nicely! So maybe wouldn't matter if vouchers were counted, as they do make good pressies! Even better reason for counting them - I ordered £30 from PB on Tuesday... Not that I'm trying to get a head start or anything!
Right... Think it's going into the signature... £1k by Xmas... If I find some easy ones, I'll remember to share!**"Cheer up, it could get worse" - I cheered up, and look, it got worse!**0 -
Hiya I realise I am late but would it be okay to join?
I am just starting my 2nd year of Accounting and although I managed quite well to budget last year I think its a good idea to save for something and being a member will maybe give me that extra incentive. I am a single parent so money is tight so any little tips will help and be much appreciated.0 -
Are we not doing the take £100 out your loan and make money from it anymore? Are we doing the other one?
About the vouchers, you could sell them on ebay, you get near enough their value, then this money could count.Student MoneySaving Club member 017!0 -
Could do! How easy do we want this? lol. Reckon I might start by trying to work from nothing, then, if I get really really stuck, take the £100 start option... I'd hate to make life too easy!!**"Cheer up, it could get worse" - I cheered up, and look, it got worse!**0

my reccomendation for making money from nowt/ very little is use your skills!
i work for myself selling beauty products- spend about £100 pa at the wholesalers per yer and make a decent wage from that (i used to be a retail manager)
and i also use the skills i gained on my degree/hobbies by doing poetry readings and writing and drama workshopsof course it doesnt cost me anything to do these, a bit of printing sometimes if anything.
Doing these i earn as much as i would in a pt job and i am my own boss and can take a holiday or day off whenever i choose!
good luck to everyone taking up this challenge and remember if you are buying stuff to sell- you need to register as a sole trader!:T The best things in life are FREE! :T0 -
Ooooh - Can I join????
I've just finished my Ba in Bus Mgt and start my PGCE(PCE) in a couple of weeks - major hard work due to start - primarily due to the travel from L/Spa to Oxford everyday - sigh.
Also a single mum with 2 boys so I may be able to help on the money saving front - LOL.
I think I'll give the betting a miss as I can never get my head around it but I do E-Bay stuff occasionally - usually the stuff I bought previously and I've got bored of now - like a previously mentioned raclette thing - I never learn - and just gather gadgets!!!! Or go round department stores scrounging samples and then sell them on - lol.Noli nothis permittere te terere

I started doing the casinos this summer but i was doing blackjack not matched betting. My boyfriend introduced me to it. I was very sceptical at first but i did make money.
The reason i stopped was because of the impact it had on my mood when i was loosing. It might sound silly but i went through highs and lows so quickly and if i was going through a bad run my mood was atrocious! It just wasn't worth it for me.
I probably made about £500 which was really needed at the time, but never again!
Unfortunately i really don't have time for a xmas job so i'm desperate to save whatever money i can!Student MoneySaving Club member 0210 -
The mood thing makes perfect sense Swirlywurly! I worked in a betting shop for 18 months, during my last year at school and for a while after that, and saw a lot of ups and downs with the regulars we had - if they were having a bad couple of weeks on the horses, it was completely obvious! I think it's something that everyone should be wary of if they're going to go into the Matched Betting schemes or any other gambling set up**"Cheer up, it could get worse" - I cheered up, and look, it got worse!**0
