MSE News: TSB current account customer? You can now earn even more cashback

I tried my TSB contactless card for the first time yesterday. I paid for fuel at the local M&S pump, the cashier encouraged me to use contactless as soon as I got out my card. I held it close to the side of the terminal and the transaction went through fine.
Next I went to another store and bought exactly £20 of goods. The terminal had the contactless symbol so I held the card up to it and nothing happened. The cashier said that they hadn't upgraded recently and their limit was still £20, she thought that contactless would only work for transactions under £20, which sounded wrong to me. I had to use chip and pin on that occasion.0 -
In my case, if the contactless does not work, I use my 0% for puschase creditcard instead of using TSB Debitcard pin.
I am not quite sure becuase I have not tried it yet, but I think if the contactless does not work and we will need to useour pin, we do not get cash back, do not we ??
Anyone get cash back tracked if they are using pin and chios after the contactless fail ??
No you don't get any cashback for declined contactless that are then paid with chip n pin. This is becoming an urban myth!
This has been confirmed by TSB call centre staff as has the variable statistic that about every 7th use of the card contactless is refused. If it was exact it would defeat the random security nature plus whatever other computer programmed rejection parameters there are. That's why I carry two TSB cards and when refused contactless on one I whip out the other 100% success now!0 -
Thanks useful info.
In my case it almost does not work all the time. I also take two of my TSB card, the same story. It is so frustrating ...Yorkshire_Pud wrote: »No you don't get any cashback for declined contactless that are then paid with chip n pin. This is becoming an urban myth!

I went about 6 weeks without any issues and this week I've had 2 transactions declined so far, quite frustrating when that happens! I hope TSB hurry up and get Apple Pay set up, I read somewhere that they intend to have it in place by late 2015 - they're running out of time!0

It's reported/rumoured American Express are enabling Apple Pay for their customers in Canada today so I'm hoping TSB will follow suit ASAP.
Edit: hoping paid off... Apple Pay is now available to TSB customers. Time to start earning 5% on contactless transactions! It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
I used my TSB contactless at the Tesco store in Fratton (Portsmouth) today. This is a brand new store but apparently they are in the process of rolling it out to other stores, too.0

Out of interest was the contactless terminal an Ingenico IPP350? If so my local Tesco Metro have had them recently installed. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
Sorry, I have no idea what make the terminal was.0

That's the ones my local Metro (not London, by the way) has installed previously. They enabled contactless straight away so hopefully your store will follow suit.0 -
Not necessarily. Go to an ATM, 'unlock PIN', and try again. I refuse to use these cards other that contactless, I'd rather pay by CC instead.
My card seems to ask for pin every 10th transaction. I tried the unlock pin idea, but it didn't work and the next contactless transaction (would have been 10th since last pin request) asked me to insert the card and do chip&pin.0
