cashback payments are on contactless transactions only under £30, per transaction. if you pay for a £5 item by contactless you will get 25p. you wont get cashback for cash withdrawals as you would then be using CNP and not contactless.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards. I wonder if this would apply when the person on the checkout asks "do you want any cash back?"0 -
You cant get cashback from TSB when you get cashback from the retailer as you would then pay via CNP not contactless.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards. strange acronyms -_ the till worker would force you to enter your card rather than giving you the option to use contactless even though the total is below £30?Mortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0
Cashback sites: £900 | £30k in 2016: £30,300 (101%)0 -
First month of using this and I would have to enter my pin for around every 10 purchases, but the last couple of weeks it's been asking for my pin for every OTHER purchase. Starting to do my head in a bit.House Deposit: £28,000 and still saving!0

TSB - The bank that we are talking about
CNP - Chip and Pin.
Its not the till worker as you call them that determines how the transaction is paid, its the till software, so if you make a purchase for £5 and the retailer accepts contactless then you can either swipe or enter pin.
If you ask for cashback from the retailer on top of your £5 purchase then the till software will get you to pay using CNP and the till worker as you call them will give you your cash.
if your transaction is over £30 the software will automatically get you to pay using CNP.
So in answer to your post that Ive been trying to tell you, is you only get the 5% cashback on contactless transactions not on cash withdrawals, or transactions paid not using contactless for whatever reason (bank security check, contactless failure, or cashback requested)
