You've just painted a horrible picture of yourself.

    I'll bite.

I worked on a checkout for years and never cared one iota about merchant policies or even considered that they might exist. I cared about beep, beep, beep and being pleasant to customers, and left bigger issues for my managers to deal with, assuming they'd let me know if any changes came along that affected my job role.

I now work in admin for a GP practice. I don't concern myself with diagnosing patients because I am not qualified to do so, it is not in my remit, and we have doctors for that.

If the minimum wage comment was the offending part, then apologies, I'm obviously out of touch as I didn't realise that working on a checkout commanded high salaries these days.

The real solution for contactless payments IMO is Apple Pay. Perhaps TSB will eventually wake up and realise they are behind the times.

Agree. As long as TSB don't do anything silly like no counting Apple Pay for the cashback...

I wouldn't like to speak for veryintrigued, but I think it was associating 'minimum wage' with not understanding or caring that caused offence.

    It was.

Insinuating that everyone who is on the minimum wage care/know less about their role is frankly very ugly.

I'm lucky enough to know many highly qualified people who have been able to change careers to ones at the minimum wage due to decisions they've made earlier in their life.

Others (even less qualified!!) on the MW people can be just as caring and diligent too believe it or not!

Judgemental views on anyone on the M.W into the discussion says more about you then them.

They'd have to change their cashback T&Cs for that. Not impossible, but I would say unlikely they'd do that. We shall see, assuming they can ever convince their parent company that they should be allowed to launch Apple Pay.

I was insinuating that people in minimum wage roles care/know less about global policies in the remit of their managers, not about their own roles.

I've been a minimum wage worker, and my partner is one. I now earn a little more, but am pretty sure my partner actually works harder than I do for less money. I have no reason to insult 'minimum wage' workers and just want to be clear that wasn't my intention.

    So, TSB cashback...

I do struggle to meet the £100 spend. I wish I could get gift vouchers to top up, but there's nowhere local that has contactless and sells vouchers for somewhere I would spend them :(.

    Boots?
    M&S?
    WH?
    Waterstones?
Amazon? (bought in a shop that does contactless)

NB. Mind you, I recently discovered Flubit, which searches for deals that are better than Amazon. I made 5 separate successful purchases that were 10% cheaper than Amazon....so Flubit would be a better deal than cashback on an Amazon gift card. You must use a normal credit card for Flubit, so I used my 0.5% cashback one to pay.

Amazon is the most likely option, but the only place I can think of that sells them is Tesco/Asda and they don't have contactless round here.

I'll have to have look around properly if I happen to venture into town, but would only get them there if I was going anyway as the multi-storey parking is £2.50 which kinda negates the cashback if that's the only reason I've gone!

Thanks for suggestions though, I'm keeping my eyes peeled!

What day of the month does cashback get paid?

I have nothing for October yet across any of our 4 accounts. Hoping I haven't lost out on £400ish of Avios as a result of using TSB cards instead of Amex.

I don't think there's an established date yet, but see post #357 onwards for October's payments.

I thought I would earn my first cashback Yesterday when I got some new shoes but sadly Primark have no contactless :(

Does anybody know if cashback works with cash withdrawals? e.g. buy something for £5 and get £25 withdrawal = 90p cashback or 15p?
