Hi everyone,
I had a good day yesterday. I am also taking part in the bring your lunch to work challenge so that really helped to reduce my spending. It wasn't a NSD for me as I needed a few groceries but that should be me until my next weekly shop. I also had to pay out bus fares. There are a few things that I need to pay out for during the month such as bus fares, kids pocket money etc so I have decided that I will take out the money to cover those things tonight. I'll divide the money into jars/envelopes and then today will be my spending day for those items otherwise I'll never meet my 15 day target.
Kind of annoyed at myself as I forgot to take my water bottle out of the fridge this morning, can get water at work but will need to buy a bottle of water at the gym when I go there after work. At least they are only 50p at the gym. Need to be more on the ball tomorrow!NSD Dec: 0/15

Morning all...
Bob - wanted to say it can feel horrible when a space you consider as personal is invaded. I don't know if you're at all spiritual/religious - in the past I have done space clearing and asked it be protected... It felt better after - like some of that negativity had been cleared. It doesn't mean it's burglar proof - but it felt like I'd reclaimed it... and I believe injustice finds its own rewards eventually... Having an emergency fund to fall back on in times of crisis would take some of the stress out of an already stressful situation. Thank goodness it was ok this time though x
With that in mind - my goal for Septemeber is to finish Step One of my EF by getting it to £1000 if I can, and also to not indulge on things I don't need when out shopping, and not to waste food that's in the fridge.
I plan to only buy what I need or at least freeze things, so they don't go passed their sell by just because I'm 'not in the mood' to eat them.
I'm aiming for 15 SFDs just because I do shop a lot to restock salad supplies - at least twice a week. No SFDs to date though.
Workouts going well and plan to keep those on target - that will be anti-hibernation tool I hope, and stop me disappearing into my room as the nights draw in and the weather changes.

Hi all! I hope you're all having a good day!
I am cream-crackered!!! I went to work yesterday (3-11pm) but ended up staying til quarter past midnight due to a crisis at work (some overtime pay though, yay!). Drove on my usual route home but found that one of the roads was closed and I wasn't familiar with the diversion route. I didn't want to risk getting lost at midnight so I went back to the hospital and went the other route. It's funny because when I finished work I had the feeling I should take this other route but discarded the thought because I wanted to get home quicker. Now I know to listen to my instincts all the time. That extra route meant an extra 15 minutes to the drive home. I stupidly decided to pass by ashda on the way home to try and see if I could find new school trousers for DS2 because I belatedly found out that the trousers I had lengthened before the end of last school year are way too short. Because I've already lost an NSD I decided to do some grocery shopping too. Spent £34 on the groceries and £13 for the trousers. Not bad coz I picked up some nice ys goodies and the freezer-fridge is now full. By the time i got home it was already 2am. Who goes out shopping at 2am you might ask? Silly I know. My reasoning is this: if I went straight home after work, I would have got in just before 1am. I would be tired and all mentally worked up due to the crisis I had to deal with at work and wouldn't be able to sleep til 2 or 3 am anyways even without going shopping so why not utilise that time for something productive? MSE or what? The only downside is I am now feeling so tired and zombified. I could be more productive today if I am not feeling like this today. Night shift again tonight (1st of 3 in a row) and not looking forward to it.:(
After shopping, I found lots of discarded/left behind receipts at the till and have uploaded them on COS and Clicksnap but have reached my maximum so will upload the others later. It's a shame it's only 1p per receipt but every little helps.
I completed 2 surveys at Orchard/Tesco giving me 10 club card points.
I found 12 empty ink cartridges in one of the drawers in the study. I found that I could get them recycled and get either 125 club card points per cartridge or £0.75 for the black and £1.50 for the coloured ones. I haven't decided just yet which one to choose. Either way, it's still money for my rubbish. I'm glad I kept them. :money:
One of my friends sent me photos of their YS haul last night, with a caption: "we've learned a lot of money saving tips from you. Thanks for the idea." I am so touched. I feel honoured. So not all my friends think I'm strange.
Not sure whether to count the spend day as yesterday's or today's since it was past midnight when I went shopping. I'm not planning on spending anything anymore today so I think I had one NSD for either yesterday or today.

Yesterday was a NSD for me ☺ as I remembered to take my lunch to work (massive deal for me as I never remember) and today has also been a NSD and have listed a load of stuff on ebay. Fingers crossed it all sells.0

Another NSD here - almost broke it several times, but then decided I could wait until Friday. Got a workout done this morning, and then dyed my hair using the other half of the mix from 6 weeks ago.
tog I did the 'listen to your instincts' thing today. Dd and dsd were at a show and I was due to pick them up from the train station. We only had a vague time and, not wanting to be late, I went earlier than planned. Dh thought I was daft, but it was perfect timing. Smug face was on!
Today I am grateful for the washing drying outside, for dd loving the show, for getting some sewing done, for hair dye, for warm tracky trousers.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
I hope your day improved Bobarella.
I had a spend day today with a few groceries I needed for dinner. Tomorrow will be too, as I need to sort out the last of the school uniform before they go back on Monday. I am determined to get my first SFD on Friday and then I shouldn't need to spend any money until Tuesday. Here's hoping anyway.0 -
Today hasn't been a no spend day. I needed to fill up my car with fuel so I picked the cheapest garage and I got all my parking paid for the week. I went to the cinema tonight but used a voucher and got sweets for 89p from T*sco saving me lots of dosh .
I did however take my breakfast, lunch and snacks to work and made my tea from stuff I had at home.
I spent money but I'd like to think I made better choices rather than just chucking money away. I'm calling it a win for today!I am officially debt free! Debt paid: £18,600 Current Savings: Pot 1 £300 //// Pot 2 (premium bonds) £3,800 :T:j0 -
Bob sorry to hear your day didn't get any better.
Also a NSD here, tomorrow should also hopefully be one too as I'm on a double shift. I've got all my food organised so no excuses for going to the shop on my break.
Tea tonight was supposed to be chicken stuffed with garlic and herb cheese but OH has been ill today so just wanted something light. I made an omelette which was yummy and put the chicken in the freezer to use at a later date.
The £5 bank account reward went in today so I have paid it to the debt - only £90 to go to pay off cc2. Got my payslip for weekly job so need to make a budget and see what else I can throw at it.
