TOG - good luck with your interview.

Yesterday was a NSD so now up to 4/20, today wasn't as we got the weekly shopping in but I went to the gym this morning 2/12. Nothing much else to report.

Heating - we've got storage heaters in the flat and it's a bit embarrassing to admit but I still don't really know how to work them properly after living here for 9 years :o however it means that the only time we use the heating (even in dec/jan and we're in northern Scotland) is to occasionally turn them on first thing in the morning to take the chill off the sitting room. We're all about cosy socks, blankets and hot water bottles here :D

TOG - Is the uniform the size you asked for? If it came from abroad it could be a translation issue rather than you being big!
Is there a way you could either wear the trousers open and disguise it with a longer top or belly band type affair? Being pregnant I have seen these. It is a piece of stretchy material that goes around the top of your trousers so you can still wear your own clothes.

On the more drastic front when I used to do martial arts and HAD to weigh in at a certain limit or couldn't compete, our coach used to have us go to bed in a bin liner the night before. And run laps wearing it under our kit until the weight was just right to weigh in. However I am aware how temporary a measure that is and would only rid you of water weight really.

To all those with sneaky OH'S popping the heating on now. I'd be getting the bill out and showing them the difference in a month with it on and with it off. For us it's a good £50.

Fmess/academia - I feel the same as you guys, if I think too far ahead it is overwhelming and then the 'oh sod it' mentality comes back. I just think one month at a time really.

I agree about the heating, it is way too early to put it on. My thermostat is in the hallway which is north facing and read 17 degrees this morning, if the heat was on it would only be on at 17 anyway. For me it is as much about saving precious resources as it is money, when I go to my MIL's and see her with the windows open and the heating on at tropical setting I want to shake her senseless - but it probably wouldn't go down too well. We have some gorgeous recycled wool blankets on the ends of our sofas and wrap up in those when it's chilly.

misstara - you must be a hardy soul living all the way up there and hardly using your heating. Storage heaters are supposed to be economical - could you do a google/youtube search for some information on how to use them properly?

TOG - I was going to ask the same as Bob about the uniform, if the sizings are out maybe you could see if anyone else in your choir is having problems and maybe do a swap around. The stretchy band idea is a good one though.

I'm not working today apart from about an hour this morning, so I am going to take the dog to the woods (when the fog lifts - fog and curly hair are not a good combo), clean the dishwasher, clean the bedrooms and maybe do some ironing. Tea tonight is super easy, southern fried chicken pieces, chips and beans. Last night we had pork steaks in a chinese marinade, hm salt and pepper wedges and corn on the cob.

    Have a lovey day guys.

  • Good morning all!

Grey and gloomy morning here! I woke up to the smell of hubby's cooking (brunch) and the sound of the washing machine (he's already done 2 loads). Bless him. Unfortunately he's gone on his default setting - using the dryer! I'm tempted to ask why he did not hang the clothes outside to air dry for a bit before using the dryer to save a bit of electricity (even though it's grey and gloomy, the wind can still do the job of drying the clothes). However I decided not to question the drying and thanked him instead for helping out with the cooking and the laundry. For him he's being helpful so asking the question would make him feel criticised and unappreciated.

Bob and dolly, the uniforms are blouse (back opening) and skirt (floor length). They are made of flimsy materials almost like organza. Leaving the skirt unzipped would be very unsightly. And shamefully, I am the biggest in the group so no chance of swapping. It was actually quite embarrassing when it was decided to go down that route of buying the uniforms abroad. The discussion was done on Facebook group conversation and everybody declared their sizes and I was horrified to declare mine. It is no secret that I'm the biggest in the group coz everybody who has eyes can see but it's still too much seeing it written in black and white. I will ask my friends if they know any seamstress who can alter my skirt to fit me and I will try to lose weight in the mean time.

3-11pm shift again tonight. I am just taking it easy this morning before I go to work. I am supposed to go to the bank to deposit some money but I'm preserving my energy for now. I have a feeling it's going to be manic at work tonight so recharging my battery will be helpful.

I wish you all a good day. Sorry for the gloomy tone of my post today. I blame the weather :)

:dance: An email just came through - inviting me for an interview for the 9-5 job on the 15th of September. Nervous and excited!

Great news hope it goes well.:T

Felt flat last few days especially when I totaled up my everyday cc. Went for a long walk last night and got my head into gear. Going to have to work my butt off to clear my current card this month, so no major overpayments from me.

    Totals so far
    Food 61.08/100
    Petrol 20/40
    Going out 1.5/25
    House 89.00 unplanned.
    Me 20.65/20
    SFD 2/20

As summer has returned booked rest of the week off work, no plans as such use my Nat Trust card a bit, meet friend for a catch up and bf seeing if he can get Friday off. Hopefully not too much spending.
Going out for a bar snack tonight so that's my sfd gone. Choosen a cheap venue with good food though.

tog - could you undo a seam at the back and insert some similar fabric? Skirts are way simpler to do this with than trousers. Hope you find a cheap solution.

    Hi Turtles

TOG - Dont apologise for being anything! It has been a grey funny day, that looked gorgeous for about 10 mins pre 8am and has been gloomy & a bit depressing. Bound to affect your mood. I agree re not saying anything to your OH about the tumble dryer. Sometimes you have to pick your battles dont you.

Calling -Im sorry you've felt flat too. Walks are great for a bit of a pick me up arent they. Enjoy your time off, & hope the rest of the week is nicer.

MissTara - I think its way healthier coping with the cold in the way you describe, rather than just wacking the heating on & wearing scanty clothing.

Dolly - The thought of you shaking your MIL senseless, is really funny :)

Welshkitty - What is it with these big hairy men who just cant keep away from the heat? They need to man up!!

    Today for me.

    1) PAD of £8 to the CC. Making reasonable headway on my stretch target for the month, hit 13% today.

    2) Jacket potatoes & tuna mayo, with salad for dinner tonight for me & OH. Very low cost meal.

    3) Made Spag bol for son with a pack of mince & basics sauce, he loves that. Plenty left of the meat, stored away to be made into something else.

    4) Banking checked & all spends logged on App.

    5) Only a small amount of washing today, so wont bother doing a load to save the money till the machine is fuller

    6) Cycled all journies.

    7) Lunches for tommorow done.

    8) Made some tips, not sure how much didnt count up the jar.

    9) Spent some time promoting an event we have on at the business in a few weeks, to ensure we get some attendants.

    10) Wrote my shopping list for the business tommorow, need to be organised as have a film crew coming an hour before normal opening. Nothing flash, just a thing about cafes, but it all helps getting our name to a wider audience. So will need to leave earlier by about 45 mins. Made extra cakes so that the counter will look tempting.

NSD from personal spends, so all good here.

    Night all

    Bob

Hi everyone, the only girl, well done on your interview! Wishing you the very best of luck :jj
I must admit,Imy heating has never really been off. I hate the cold,so do spend a lot on heating. Calling,I too have spent quite a bit on stuff and have had to have a talk with mysel f. I always imagined I'd be jumping up and down about my impending debt free status, but I've spent so much on my everyday card this month,it hardly feels worth mentioning. In any case I have loan debt, but the dfd refers to clearing the debt on cards I started with in 2013. But I suppose knowing what you need to do and getting to the destination is really what matters as opposed to when you get there. I've been feeling really tired at work latley,I actually dropped off yesterday :o

Well I hope everyone has a good evening and take care everyone :)

  • Evening all. Traveller, look after yourself, falling asleep at work is never a good sign! Bob - good luck with the film crew :)Calling, feel better soon, some months are just about keeping our heads above water.
NSD today as expected - I'm pretty good when I'm at work. Been trying to get my head round the new pension scheme at work today - bit confusing in terms of amounts you can overpay etc but I think I've worked it out now. Meant to be at volunteering tomorrow but I've really lost love for it at the moment, it doesn't always feel worthwhile (of course I know it's not really about me, but still). Gearing up for my 580-mile round trip at the weekend (feel sick just thinking about it. How people drive anywhere near London on a regular basis is beyond me!). Have a good evening all :)
