:dance: An email just came through - inviting me for an interview for the 9-5 job on the 15th of September. Nervous and excited!

    Yay - that's good news.

I have wombled two coffee been stickers to add to my Mc'Donalds free coffee card. Been for a run, just a quick 2 miles today due to time but will cycle this evening.

So... another spendy day today but that is fine. Basically, we had run out of chocolate and I am starting nightshifts tonight. As a result, we did our weekly shop today instead of tomorrow.

Heading off shortly but meal planning is done and food has been bought.
    :)

Thanks for the agreement that the scooter would be a good pressie. I was a bit worried as the family are quite hard to buy for.

Hugs to everyone. See you all in a few days.

    Nice Wombling there Dolly :)

    TOG -
Thank you. It was a busy day, good trade on a cold clear day, lots of coffee sold :) That is super good news about your job interview! Everything crossed. Now why doesnt that surprise me about FU? They are something else that starts with those initials if you ask me...last word uselsss...

Stewby - Hope your nightshifts go ok. :)

So today was a NSD, although I did buy groceries, I used £3 in tips, so thats free money :)
Cycled all journies, checked my banking, did some filing/recylcing as soon as I got home & made a low cost lasagne for dinner.
Have reached the payout limit on Shoptize, in fact £4.15, so that is earmarked for a PAD, but annoyingly it wouldnt pay out via either Paypal or BACs, so I've emailed them. Almost at £1 on Clicksnap too, so thats another £5 in total to roll at the cards.

    Night everyone!

  • Evening all. TOG, fab news about the job interview :DStewby, good luck on the night shifts.
Yesterday ended up being a spendy day as the vacuum cleaner breathed its last...luckily we had some "emergency money" that could be used to buy a replacement (went through TCB so will get a bit back). Used it tonight - the amount of dust that it's got in it just from the bedroom suggests the old vac hasn't been working properly for a while! Feels so much more "breathable" in there as well! Investment in our health, as we're both asthmatic and have been struggling recently (I blamed hayfever season, should have guessed really).
Today has been a NSD though, so all is not lost! Been a bit low recently, trying to do too many things at once (save for too many different things) - need to take it a day at a time. Onwards!
Bought my first house in 2014 - now, to be mortgage free! :D

Well done the only girl, that's great news about the interview :)

Hope all the night shifters are doing ok. I really couldn't manage it, I am such an early to bed, early to rise person.

academia - I feel the same as you. The big picture is a but too big for me to cope with at the moment and need to keep reminding myself that every small thing I do is a step in the right direction. Hugs

Loving all the wombling that's happening. I have started collecting receipts to enter into Check0ut sm4rt.

Today has been a spendy day, but only for my tripod dog's hydrotherapy. I mentioned today at work that I hadn't put my heating on and would be wearing more layers etc - everyone was really shocked and said they had put their heating on last week. I'm hoping to keep my heating bill especially low this year as I will be paying alone.

Hope you've all had a good day, sorry for the short post but school is tiring me out and I need a bit of time off the laptop

  • Good luck for your interview TOG - I will keep everything crossed for you.
Quiet day money wise today - I'm always busy doing too much other stuff at work. I managed a little PAD to the emergency fund and got a huge total of 75p roadkill around work, so that's all good. Managed a NSD due to being way too busy, but I also got a free exercise class in - my friend is a trainer... :D

See this is a great example of herd mentality. To my mind it is ridiculously early to put your heating on, it's barely September! The silly lady on the BBC was bemoaning the nip in the air whilst wearing a T shirt and short skirt! But I am sure so many have said 'oh it's a bit cold therefore the heating must go on' not me! Last year's record was December 1st and unless I or my family start going blue well be aiming for the same.

    Good evening all!

Thanks for the well wishes for the interview. I really need to think long and hard about this one. Especially after I realised I have 7 late shifts in a row this week, after just one day off from last week. I am up running myself ragged. And my house/home is taking the hit, every time I go on night shifts or a heavy week like this, my house is starting to look like a bombsite.

Bob you made me laugh about FU. I'm beginning to think that about them, I just didn't want to say it. I'm still hoping and crossing my fingers that they will not make us squeeze them before we can get our refund. I'm pleased to hear you had a good trade day. I still can't get my head around you cycling at this stage of your pregnancy. I envy your fitness. Which reminds me of something that depresses me a little. We are going to London at the end of the month for a choir concert. We asked one of our members to buy us our new uniform abroad and she has delivered mine. I was horrified when I tried it on and it is almost 2 sizes smaller on the bottom part. Man... I am so embarrassed. I don't know how I can loose weight in three weeks to fit in the uniform. I couldn't get it replaced because it was bought from abroad, There is a bit of room to have it adjusted but it will cost me money which I don't really want to do. It has already cost me £30!

Lots of womblings in the turtle world, yay! I was pleasantly surprised when about 12p worth of coppers and 5ps dropped from the self service check out in @sd@ this morning. And lots and lots of free receipts for the cos and Clicksnap app. No price guarantee vouchers though.

Yay for the new vacuum cleaner academia but better still congratulations for having the "emergency" money. It makes all the difference in our journey. It just takes one emergency like that, or the car, or the washer, fridge freezer to breathe it's last for the debt repayment and or savings journey to go to pot.

Re:heating, I am just like you Bob, but DH is the opposite of me. A slight deviation on the room temperature makes him switch on either the electric fan and the central heating, when surely there are lots of natural means of alleviating that eg, opening the windows or wearing appropriate clothings. That's something I am working on on my DH in terms of MSE. Same with DS2 - he says he couldn't sleep in the dark so he keeps his bedside lamp on all night. We gave him a timer so the lamp should switch off after bedtime but he point blankly refuses, and the DH takes his side (He tends to spoil DS2 and treats him like a baby). Last night, I gave him/them an ultimatum, either he uses the timer or we'll replace it with a baby night light (the shame!!!). I will see tonight when I get home if the timer is indeed on. Or else.... (I sound like a horrible mother.)

  • Hi everyone!

Late check in from me so I'll make it a quick one!

The Only Girl - best of luck with your interview.

I woke up yesterday morning to the sound of our heating kicking in - DH had snuck downstairs and turned it on! I've been trying to make the most of hot water bottles and my new curtains though, so it's back off for now.

Attended a course today that was paid for by a local community organisation, so I can now safely handle food for my business. Another SFD today - so much better than last month already!
