  • Eek, my first shop was a bit more than I was hoping for because we did a big Costc0 shop but I'm planning to make meals for October out of it. I'm conscious that baby is due at the end of the month so I really want the freezer full of meals. I think we'll probably start using those meals at the end of September though, because I don't think I'm going to be in any mood for cooking.

So... $170.71 at Costc0 but that did include 50lbs of bread flour that I imagine will last for months. We haven't bought that one before but since we make all our own bread it works out half the price per pound than the bread flour in the regular supermarket.

And then $47 at the regular grocery store for the fruit/veg/milk etc

So our first September shop comes in at 217.71/320. YIKES! Still doable though!!!

  • Hello :-)

I've been following the go for the last couple of months but kept away! For August I decided to keep all of my receipts and add them up at the end to see the total spend for the month.

    £578.62 Ouch!

Not only can we not afford that I don't want to be spending that! Luckily my husband is completely on board so I have his support although he's a natural bodybuilder so he needs to eat certain foods but luckily he doesn't eat tonnes of protein.

We're a family of 5, myself, OH and our 3 children that we home educate. They're 6, 4 and 1. They don't stop eating!

I'm going to set my budget at £400 (I'm on my iPad and it won't let me make it red sorry) for September but I'm hoping to come in closer to £300! Maybe a bit hopeful.....

Back to old school meal planning and baking the kids snacks and treats. Looking forward to seeing how we all get on.

    Have a great evening x

  • Hi everyone, it's been about 5 years since I last tried this so back for another attempt, going to do better this time!! :)

Aiming for £220 this month (I've been keeping a diary and spent £230-£260 on grocery the last few months).

    Good luck everyone x
  • I need to be sensible about what we're spending, so would like to join please and aim for no more than £300 for September for myself, 2 sons and 1 cat. I will include any dinner money for me and DS2 as food spends, but not DS1's random food purchases from his own money.
  • £280please for me this month.Actually came under budget for once for August, by £12 is.

Hopefully this is doable now the girl's summer hols is at an end. Don't they eat you out of house and home!?

My meal plan is all over the place due to working evenings, I wish could find a more normal working pattern; as I am sure it would help us all to regulate better eating habits. My girls especially, as when I am at work they aren't eating well at all.

Ok I tried this for the first time last month and only went £4 over target. So I'm going to cut the target by £10 and aim for £240

Still need to sort the last few days of August before I can declare how badly I was over budget by in the last thread, but I'm in again for September.

Official budget is £244.90, but I'm hoping to do it on £200 (or less) and with £105 (or less) spent in shops (the rest being 'spent' on long term stocks).
