    Evening all :hello:

Have made my meal plan for the month. Now I have got into the habit I am finding it works quite well and I'm keeping each month's to refer back to later on.

I put the list up on the inside of one of the cupboard doors and there is a space at the bottom of each week, where I put anything I need to buy for that week's meals. I find that most of the things I have in the freezer/stock cupboard/weekly veggies anyway, so can easily move a meal around if I fancy something different.

I does mean being a bit more organised in keeping a note as to what is in already and can be used that month. I also have an idea then what I need to batch-bake to top up regular things such as chilli/Bolognese/casseroles/curries etc. I feel it is less pressurised than working day-to-day and definitely saves money and waste :money:

Had another NSD today. We had HM potato, onion and cheese bake with baked beans (and DH had sausages with his).

Hope you all have a thrifty Thursday

Hi sorry for being late for the party. I didn't get to join in August due to a very challenging month - trying to keep heads above the water and pay off the remaining debt. We did it, managed to get it down to zero but I am now even more determined to keep the pounds from escaping from my purse to build up a healthy emergency fund.

Please put me down for £450 for groceries and household budget. I have already done a bit of grocery shopping for the first week in September and have spent £35. I might need to buy some fresh fruits and milk tomorrow but nothing much. Top up shop will be done on Sunday, with the hope of catching a lot of YS goodies, to keep my expenses down.

    Hi everyone,

I'm so sorry that I've been AWOL these past few weeks. We had a holiday to Florida and there simply wasn't time to update the August thread as I was too exhausted after days out at parks etc.

Got back the UK and had to attend a court case yesterday - not an experience I would recommend or welcome doing again - EVER. But we made it through and I still have my health, sanity and good people around me, so I'm feeling okay.

I have updated the budgets list for September. Please let me know by PM'ing me if I've missed anyone, thanks :)

  • Hi. I went wrong last month so I'm back and got way more organized this month! I've worked out where I went wrong and I'm back determined now.

Ive got weekly budgets so please can I join in weekly.

I'm going to start with £100 a week as that includes pets/toiletries, but my aim is to gradually get that amount lower. My aim is to have a lower weekly start by October's budgets.

I'll start from today if that's okay.So I'm at £100& had my first no spend day for ages!

Thanks billie-Jo it's a great relief to get that huge amount of debt to zero. It was a long hard slog but definitely worth it. As I've said in my previous post, we'd like to live as frugal as possible, using the same budget when we were paying off the debts, if possible even less, to have a good emergency fund for whatever life will throw at us. The rainy days will come, not if but when. Best to get ready to avoid getting trapped by debt again.

Eat Well For Less is about to start, I hope they have families with realistic budgets unlike the last series where families spent £100's a week!
