  • It's been a while since I did the GC, but my spends have been creeping up so I'm hoping doing it will help me get them back to a more reasonable level.

Can you put me down for £180 for the month please? That's for me, two teenagers and a dog.

Please count me in, I am going to aim for £200 as its just me and more than 4 weeks to pay day. I have a £5 off Ald! voucher to use this week too so that will help.. Need to restock cupboards as have family to visit and DD and DH home for some of the time too. Will have DS this weekend (V Excited) as well.
    Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

  • Feeling motivated by last month's challenge so I'm definitely in again. Going to lower my budget to $320 for the month because that is what I hope to sustain when we only have one income. If baby comes early some funds might be diverted to takeaway but hopefully with all the batch cooking I've already done that won't be required very often!

I'm still on August as run calendar months but will be aiming for £150 again in September (broken down as £120 food, £15 cat stuff, £15 toiletries/household). Think I might be deluding myself with the cat stuff though and may increase the budget after this month but we'll see how it goes.

Anyway, this is for me (six months pregnant so eating a bit more than usual :rotfl:) and my husband and one cat, and doesn't include eating out (which is pretty rare anyway) or alcohol (which DH has a lot of but at least I'm obviously cutting costs there ;)).

Can I join again please, I''m aiming for £350 in September.

Slightly lower target than August, because we have fewer people to feed for part of the month. I'm hoping to come in under budget because I had a lower pay this month, but even £400 is far less than we used to spend before joining the GC regularly. :)

    Hi all,

    £300 please.

I have spent £100 of that already with monthly meat purchase and some household stuff, shampoo, loo roll, kitchen roll etc as well as a couple of weeks of cat food and the usual weeks groceries.

So approx £50 per week left - fingers crossed :)
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Have not bought anything but I'm looking at cheap recipes from the files to help me make my meal plans and shopping list, hoping to have some easy meals for the kids coming in from school and some work lunches and evening meals.
