Please can I join this month? I'm on maternity leave and money is very tight.

I use my bank card to pay for shopping and totted up how much we've spent the last month and it wasn't a figure I was comfortable with (£325!!!) we also went to McDonalds and Greggs about 5 times. How on earth does this happen?? When I sit and think about how much we spend on shopping and how much fast food we eat I am seriously deluded!

There are 2 adults, 2 children (one still on formula and in nappies) 2 cats and a rabbit. I am pledging no eating out in September and a shopping spend of £300 (or less).

I already meal plan and shop according to that however if we have had a bad night with the baby we tend to plump for unhealthy and quick options....

I would like to join in this month please. I haven't done this for years but I need to seriously get control of the grocery budget this Autumn.
I would like to aim for £400for September please. This to cover food, household products and toiletries.
Thanks to those who run the challenge and good luck to everyone.

please sign me up for £220 this month, that's £70 lower than last month. this includes all food for 3 adults, 3 large dogs and 6 chickens and 2 ducks! also includes all alcohol, which is my vice! also includes toiletries etc. would ideally like to get this down to £200 per month by the end of the year as we are moving and son is not coming with us!!!
  • Me too LittleOne.
I'm going to go for £200 too! There's only me and I also buy food and end up wasting it. I really need to get a grip! I'm glad I'm not the only one :rotfl:

£200 for me please. This is from Saturday 29 August to Friday 25th September - (I'll be mortified if I go over:eek:)

So pleased I'm not the only one too! Let's keep each other going x

  • I would like to join please. This will be my first month. At the moment we put away £410. That is for 2 adults, 1 child, 3 cats & 2 dogs - budget to include food, laundry products, pet food, toiletries and birthday cards/presents.

We have a card that my husband pays into from his salary and then we get cash back on our spend depending where we shop. So I am limited to certain SMs.
    Sometimes it just is
  • Morning all :j

    nearly September already

I am aiming for £180 again this month. That is for 2 adults one 15yr old boy and one spaniel. Packed lunches all around.

Bit unsure how this month will pan out as I start my degree in a couple wks as a mature :p student so this will send the routine upside down a bit. So will be batch cooking and filling freezer before things get too hectic. I will not be paying London prices for coffee and sarnie so will be taking a packed lunch.

Welcome to all the newcomers and well done for tackling the grocery spends :T

  • I'm in again and with a budget of £650 this month,
    DEBT
    31/12/2018 = £21,740.10 - 31/12/2019 = £18,581.29 (14.53% PD)
    31/01/2020 - £18,685.22 (14.05% PD)
  • I won't be joining in this month, just lurking for all the good tips! I should be back on it from next pay check (so the October challenge) as I need to start squirelling bits away for the festive season without adding anymore to the budget!

    Hello all,

I have at last managed to get myself straight after moving. So, for September please can you put me down for £180?

£83.23 has been spent already on a grocery delivery, so apart from food for the month I have all toiletries and non food items covered.

Good Luck all, and thank you to those running the thread.
