  • Today has been a good day :D

Lots of things to be grateful for :T

    1. I was productive and did a couple of the jobs around the house that need doing and if we're going to rent our home needs doing pronto! Painted the bathroom door and frame - we finished our bathroom last winter :o

    2. oh's interview went really well. They are interviewing 3 other candidates and he will hear Friday - trying not to get my hopes up!

    3. The weather was nice around lunch time so downed tools in the bathroom after I had sanded everything & went out into the back garden and tackled overgrown shrubs. Cleared loads out and the garden looks so much bigger!

    4. Signed up for 3 ms assignments this week for £32. All easy & near me.

    5. caught up with my db over the phone (which was lovely in itself) and he has agreed to come and do a couple of odd jobs for me on Sunday :A

    6. oh fixed the rail on our built in wardrobe that had broken & fallen down the week before last :o

    7. Finally had the strength/energy/motivation to seek some legal advice over my last company dismissing me and sent an email asking for some answers and alluded to the fact if they don't give me some answers based on what they said to me in the brief meeting I had I feel they discriminated against statutory rights (for time off for dependents & annual leave) and that would constitute unfair dismissal

    8. caught up with a friend (over texts) I haven't spoke to in over a month and arranged to go to the local spa together on Tuesday :T

    9. Ideas for what I want to do with my life/work life are starting to become clearer :T

    10. finalised budget/spends for the last month and have a £70 surplus :D

Wow DNMS things seem to all be happening. So pleased you enjoyed your break and fingers crossed for OH job :)

At least once you know you can then decide where to look for work. Although you seem to be doing incredibly well earning a few bob along the way. Can I ask which MS sites you use, is it just one or more than 1? I used to do some a number of years ago and just never continued when I moved. Would definitely love to start again and would appreciate some recommendations. :D
  • Fingers crossed for your OH job interview, and fingers crossed that you get some answers from your previous employer. It always amazes me how much employers think that they can get away with. I am a health and safety rep at my school, and there is a general ignorance of laws and statutory rights.
So pleased that you had a lovely holiday away, and even got some money back for your rubbish night.

hey jonno here's a link to the mse msing page which lists loads of ms companies.

I'm currently signed up with gap, bare & grass roots but will sign up with a few more soon. I've really got to register as se over the next month. I don't think I'll earn enough to pay tax but still need to do it.

Things do seem to be going well for us at the moment. It's hard to believe it as things were so unsettled and turbulent for years. I'm really grateful I have been able to have a few months off of work and time to think and breath and consider what I want. I think it's really helped me to step back and think, and often it's when I'm doing something else that things kinda come to a conclusion in my mind. Yesterday I was painting the bathroom door and thinking through my dismissal and thought no I'm going to get some legal advice and take it further. What I'm asking isn't unreasonable and after working hard for someone for a year I think I'm entitled to that!

    Fingers crossed for Friday :j

  • eeek again another week between posting :o it's been a good week but yesterday I hit a wall and my mood plummeted after a couple of negative things that happened through the day. Just goes to show how transient my better mood has been,

No news on the job for oh yet. We're holding on to the fact that no news may still be good news...

The stark reality of needing to start job hunting is daunting to say the least! And because I want to get a job a want rather than any job then I really need to start now. I've realised this laissez faire attitude to working has to stop and all of the things I am doing to earn a little pocket money while out of work is just a smoke screen distraction. A distraction from how my confidence is so low after my last employment. So I've looked at my savings and have decided to spend the next couple of months using my time without dgd for job hunting and just live off of my savings rather than trying to earn extra cash. If I haven't secured a position by Jan then I will start to be concerned and oh and I will have to sit down and rethink our finances....

This is so tragic to me as the time with dgd is so precious so I just hope I can find a p/t rather than f/t position...

So things I'm grateful for over the last 24 hours:

    1. I had all the ingredients to make delish brownies yesterday
    2. Had such fun filled day with dgd yesterday. We went to a free play group session, then went to the park, called in on my ex-mil and she gave us lunch and then came home for more quiet time and then baked cakes
    3. forgaged some pears. Need to make something with them. Am thinking some compot to freeze and a cake
    4. Have started 1 application to about 40% and will finish off the rest this afternoon/this evening

    ok that's me

  • Good luck with it all DNMS - I know that it's a stressful time for you at the moment. I'll keep everything firmly crossed that you will get what you want on the job front.

Oh Determined. I am sorry you are feeling so worried about your future at the moment. I can totally see why you would, & why you would also feel sad at the thought of leaving your DgD.

That said, I feel you are beating yourself up slightly by saying your efforts to earn money on the side are just pocket money, you have been doing so well. Surely all additional money that isnt from your savings is a good thing as it keeps your savings there a bit longer?

I dont want to tell you how to feel, far from it, but you are such a good person, you try hard for your daughter despite the difficulty of your relationship, you are raising your granddaughter, you sound like you have good solid friendships IRL, I just wanted to come out as a Determined cheer leader because I hate to hear you so down. Breathe with us & say 'this too will pass' you will get through.

  • Feeling brighter today. Bob you're right earning a bit of extra cash means less cash out of my savings. So my spirit is renewed and I will carry on :)

I have signed up for a ms assignment for Tuesday, I've got one to do today and I will spend an hour this evening listing some items on fleabay.

I found the courage from somewhere to apply for the position that closed last night. I've got a bit of a weird thing around looking for work at the moment and my confidence is so low I'm avoiding even applying. So while oh stripped the wallpaper in our bedroom I steeled myself to just complete the blinking application :T Probably not my best ever application but I did it anyway and it's a start. Whether I get an interview or an offer isn't the be all or end all of the world. Being dismissed does not determine my worth, abilities or experience to date. There pep talk over!

So as well as that this morning I have spent a few hours job searching and have found a few positions that seem interesting. I've also spent some time doing more research about postgrad options.

    Things to be grateful for:

    1. Had a lovely day with dgd yesterday. Went for a walk in the woods in the morning. She enjoyed in, we went on the 1 mile track and there where only a couple of times she got tired and I gave her a piggy back for a few minutes. In the afternoon we went to a singing group. She was a little shy and withdrawn to start with by by the mid way point she started to enjoy herself and by the end she was having a blast :A

    2. I have actually begun to start looking for work again

    3. I have a lovely partner, family & home. No matter what my oh loves and supports me.

    4. oh heard from the recruitment agency and the potential employer is still deciding on the candidate to offer and he is still in the runnin :D

    5. I got our plasterer round yesterday to give us a quote and he has offered us a very good deal to do the whole room rather than just doing the ceiling, a wall and a few patches. Have booked him in for next Friday :) That means we only have part of the back garden to finish our renovation project :j

    6. Yesterday I picked the last of the tomatoes off of my plants and put them in a brown bag to force them to ripen and we have LOADS!

    7. Think I am done with gc shopping now before my cc statement gets issued and we've come in under budget again :T

    8. Have done a mid month review of our joint account and looks like we'll end the month with a £5.90 surplus :T Did manage to put £100 towards what we owe oh's dm despite not working :)

    9. Went to the spa on Tuesday and treated my friend as she is having a tough time at the moment in life and financially. However when we where there the hot tub was dirty and not hot so we were given a discount so I only ended up having to pay the price of my entrance :T

    10. Today have had a lovely long catch up with my db. Have arranged to go for lunch with him and my aunt next week

    11. A piece of the probate puzzle is now complete. Next steps to swear an oath with a solicitor.

    12. My mood is brighter again today :j
