We took the plunge and submitted our cancellation notification after failing to get the deal we wanted. We've had a letter through offering 35% off The tv package (we only have tv) but discount is not included on the HD packages. The offer ends on the 18th which I think is possibly switch off time...do I hold out?
Also has anyone had any luck on using the discount towards a new package? Could do with a new box0 -
I thought haggling your providers was standard practice?:T :money: :T0

Well I tried to haggle.
I have phone, landline, bb and sky tv at a cost of £73 pm. On monday I got them down a measly £13 BUT lost box sets. I have given them until today and rung back to say that compared to talk talks latest deal I really feel leaving is my best option (after 20+ years with sky) and once again put straight through to retentions. Not made to feel valued or important. Was told "OK, we will cancel on 28th Aug, thank you for calling"
Grrr:mad: don't know where i am going wrong, being bright, chirpy, using their names, saying how I am sorry to leave etc etc. Lets hope I get an email in the next day or two. I am actually haggling not for the hell of it, to see what i can get but beacause my hours have been cut in work and if I don't get a deal I really will have to leave. Have to find a way to save  £180 pm in lost wages.0 -
It has been repeated over and over. You have to cancel to get anywhere with Sky. And don't ring them half way through the cancellation period either. That just tells them you don't really want to cancel.
There have been numerous examples on this thread and others of people who are missing the chance of saving £400/£500 a year because they are frightened to death of missing a day or two of Sky.
Cancel and wait. The savings will come."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

...REALLY hope that you haven't cancelled broadband and phone as well as TV? The TV service can literally be switched on and off with an hour's notice....but once Sky have informed BT Openretch about the phone cancellation you might be in for a world of pain - at best a few days loss of service,at worst, loss of your phone number and the services being down for weeks!:(
It is always best to find another phone/bband provider first, then get them to take over the line from Sky. Treat the TV as a seperate item.0 -
Hi. What sort of deals have people managed to get off Sky Fibre BB? Im at the end of my normal Sky BB contract and looking around. But the best I have been offered is £10 per month for Fibre BB.0

I was paying £92 for Sky TV (including HD and multi-room). Contacted Sky via the web chat, where they offered to call me back. I was put through to Retentions and after explaining that I was thinking of leaving as it was too expensive, I was offered my existing package at ~£79. I declined and as that was their best offer, requested cancellation.
When I came off the phone I checked my account via Sky Interactive and there was the 35% discount offer. The same offer was showing on my account on the main web site. I left it about a week and re-checked on Sky Interactive and there was a 50% discount. I accepted this, which took the cost down from £92 to £58. I then phoned up to cancel multi-room as the kiddies TV now has an Fire TV stick (£35 one off) with loads of free stuff on Amazon video plus Netflix (£7-49 a month) which is full of entertainment for the whole family.
Result - £46 a month instead of £92 (saving £552 a year!).0 -
We recently played Sky bingo and lost. Submitted notice on the account and 3 weeks later had and email and leaflet offering 35% off. We ignored this and subsequently received nothing else and tv was disconnected. It's been off for over a week now and received nothing0

I would hardly class being offered a 35% discount as losing."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
