Thanks - well I went for it in the end. £8 more a month to move from BB to fibre, get the TV channels back, not connection / hub cost.
I have no doubts I could go cheaper fibre elsewhere with freeview / iptv services (somehow as I don't know a great deal about this) but then my magic eyes wouldn't work in the other rooms so I'm pleased I got a better offer overall. Still not like back a couple of years ago where I was paying £25 :rotfl:"The future needs a big kiss"0 -
Well... after reading on this forum other peoples positive posts I thought I would give it a crack..
We are 20yrs with Sky...
I had the old..Entertainment/Sports/kids/docus..then automatic freebies like music/Asian/etc
Packages,with last year's updates..no broadband/internet..box only!!
I phoned from europe..ignoring the request to put in my number..
Noticed I got through to the Indian heldesk...who helped me last month to replace a defect viewing card, and sent to my English address..a new Sky+hd box(old private panasonic),and
I must say efficient and very pleasant and helpfull, unlike when I have before ended up with
a UK sky agent.
So I told them I needed to reduce my bill...£65....Saying I don't need kids...first they came with
£58,plus hd ± extra channels..haggled further not so hard,..but got them down to £49...
Maybe I could of got a better reduction....but with simple package.....now a £16.saving .and no April or
Hyke in the next2years......I was reasonably happy0 -

You have evidence of that i hope.0 -
Contacted Sky to renegotiate my contract as it expires in mid-March. They said I would get the best deal in the universe (ok I might have used creative language a bit) offered to reduce from £38.95 sky fibre max to £27 (I don't own a Tv). I pointed out that's the exact same deal they give to new customers and if I was a new customer I could go through Topcashback and get £95 cashback, he said he could do nothing more so it's off to Plusnet.0

Been with Sky for nearly 20yrs and regularly through that time we have rung up to renegotiate our package.
We don't have access to cable where we live.
Rang them on Monday 18th.
Our 12 month contract and offers were due to finish on 22nd.
Haggled and renegotiated a deal on TV package for entertainment and sports with HD
The operator was struggling a bit with the figures, but we finally agreed our deal, and we were happy with it.
He told us that there would be an "admin charge" of £10.
This was news to us - every other time we've rung to renew or change our package, there was no charge. We tried to get him to waive it, but he said he couldn't.
On checking our account online, we have now found out that the admin charge is £20. We are in ongoing discussions to refund £10.
It looks like everyone will have to factor in this "admin charge" to any reductions they manage to extract from Sky going forward. I don't know when it was introduced. Our operator didn't know.0 -
I only have BB with a down speed of 4-5mbps because of a long line £18.99, they will not budge on the increase to £25.99 and no fibre offer either, so i don't know if i am making a mistake thinking about going to Talk Talk fibre for £19.99, as the sky BB has been solid.0

This admin charge has been reported a lot over recent months. Why they don't offer a slightly higher price and cover it that way I'm their normal hidden running costs, rather than antagonise customers by charging them extra for agreeing a deal, is beyond me. Many people on other forms have been equally annoyed - you could try putting in a complaint for the full amount with the threat of cancelling? You have even greater grounds given they stated £10 and charged you £20.0 -

I agreed £17.50 for Fibre Max (including line rental) on Friday. Looking at the future bills they go up to £19.50 in April, despite there being no mention of this. Check your online accounts to see what the future holds. It is still a good deal but an 11% rise is a big jump.0 -

Tried again today to get a deal on BB, £27 fibre was the best offer, and this time told me how to let another provider take over the line when i said i will be switching after this offer. I suppose some may think thats not a bad deal on the whole if the fibre is solid.0 -
Everybody remember that if you are going to switch providers use either Quidco or Topcashback where you get paid for changing provider.0
