@DEL55,
its actually no good being referred to the Retentions team, as others will attest too, you need to issue instructions you are leaving Sky giving your reason as crass costs - once you issue a notification to leave they come up with some good deals.
However, from my perspective, unless you are into live sport i don't understand why anyone would want more channels that that supplied via Freeview - indeed, where i reside i don't have my TV connected to an arial, cable or anything else and yet I'm able to watch most TV broadcasts, not live admittedly, but very much on demand - my only real costs are 4.5G Broadband connection and monthly server charges from Finland, oh and the cost of HDD storage.0 -
Just a bit of advice/tip for Sky fibre broadband users.
My deal ends about 1st Feb 2019 so i went to see what offer the had and i was on fibre, line rental and anytime calls for £30pm.
During the chat i was told that as of this week i had been upgraded to 80/20 fibre free of charge Sky can only over me 80/20 or upto 18mb adsl.
80/20 with line rental and anytime would be £44 pm plus £10 admin fee.
Maybe other people have had this issue as me.
I will look for other options this month but maybe getting something for free will cost you in the long run.0 -

Another heads up for anybody who has had a "free" fibre max upgrade.
I got a message on my mobile from sky saying thank you for my account change/order on 6/12/2018.
The message relates to the "free" upgrade so i checked my account on the Sky app and from 28/12/2018, my bill date the "free" upgrade will now cost me an extra £22 pm as the discount i had has been stopped due to Sky's "free" upgrade as it's a change of subs and you lose all discounts on fibre, rental and calls packages.
Strangely i checked my account on my pc and it shows fibre max price but the monthly price after discount is same as what i pay now but will go up for the 28/01/2019 bill.
I think a long chat to Sky is needed to get this sorted out.0 -

Similar things happened with TV accounts in 2017, when Sky revamped the Sports packages - I started to get charged for Sports at full price even tho I was still in a 60% off deal. Was the Devil's own job to sort, only finally sorted when Exec. complaints got involved -but even they couldn't put the account charges "right" -they had to give me various credits until we reached a satisfactory conclusion!!(to me ,that is:rotfl:)0 -

I know, i was in the same boat and i had to go to exec complaints and even then they still could not work out how much i was overpaying. All i got was what i had overpaid refunded and my discount stopped as Sky's software could not reinstate any previous discounts or something like that.
After the call i put in my cancelation and then they said as i was over 30 days left to run would have to pay to leave. After a few more heated conversations and getting to to use a calculator it got sorted bit i remember Sky saying all the time that it was ME that requested the "new sports package" and Sky never make mistakes.
Let the fun begin.0 -
Just doing some research on haggling a new Sky deal. Managed to negotiate it down to £25 for boxsets, sports, go extra and movies a few years ago. When the 12 month offer ran out it 'magically' went down to £21 and i've been paying that ever since. Wanted to upgrade to Sky Q but too scared to call them in case they spot their mistake. Last month... upto £84.
Unfortunately, I cannot get Virgin Media, so going to use Now TV as a bargaining tool. I can't see me getting close to £21 but going to give it a go.0 -

I spent about 3 hours waiting for live chat only to get to next in line and then it disconnects. It happened 3 times to me.
I called them in the end when i got home as i cant use mobiles where i work.
I got through to somewhere outside the UK and explained the issue. The chap was just reading off the screen and said that i will still pay what i am paying now but i didn't get a lot of confidence from him. He read again my bill with all the deductions, credits and discounts and i said that doesn't add up to £30 and then he said when it comes to taking the money it will be £30 plus what ever my tv package is but it will be the same as i have paid for the last 9 months.
He said that my broadband is actually £29.99 but Sky take £30 so i am saving 1 pence pm. I told him no, it's the other way round.
The upshot is i will have to check my bank statement for the 28/12/2018 to make sure.0 -
Hi,
after a online chat lasting nearly an hour (!) , I got my Sky Entertainment and Sports bundle renewal down from £53.50 a month to £31.00, on an 18 month contract. Felt like an OK deal at the time, now I'm not so sure?0 -
If you have a Santander account the Sky £50 reward if you resubscribe to Sky TV may be showing for you. It has just been reintroduced for selected accounts.
I used this in my Halifax account and got the £50 cashback last month. Basically covers 4 months of Sky TV for me.0 -
I contacted SKY Q Retentions via Facebook Messenger.
My offers are up and my package is:
Box sets - £25.67
Sky Sports- £22.40
Sky Sports HD - £3.60
Sky Q Multi Screen - £12.00
Sky broadband -£30
Total:£93.67.
My sky broadband is under a separate contract. So in this instance it is just TV contract that us up.
I contacted Sky via the facebook messenger app. Allegedly put through to retentions. The offer I got was not very good at all-
Entertainment Bundle - £22 instead of £25
£20 admin fee to lock in this 'deal'
Notice how they are comparing the savings to 'new customer' prices.
£1 HD instead of £5 (I get this free on my current subscription)
£1 Boxsets instead of £5 (£25.67 on my current subscription and that includes entertainment)
£20 sports instead of £28 (£22.40 on current subscription)
£2 SportsHD instead of £6 (£3.60 on current sunscription)
£12 Multiscreen (same)
Plus broadband at £30.
£88 per month.
So a HUGE saving of £5.67 per month.
I tried to get more off, but was told this is the best they can do.
....
so I said I wanted to cancel. I then have a load of information thrown at me...
1- Once TV is in Pending cancellation, all offers will be removed and I won't be entitled to further offers for 12 months.
2- I will need to return sky equipment and if I rejoin I may be made to pay £298 as that is what the equipment is worth.
I am trying to work out, if I cancel. Hoping for a better deal to come my way, and I decide to stay within my 31 day notice period, can I still remain with sky? Or by being in 'TV Pending Cancellation' does that mean I can't?
I plan to call retentions instead, as £5 off is not very good at all.
....
I tried live chat on sky website, via the cancellation live chat. I only got connected to the same person who I spoke to on the facebook messenger chat!! AWKWARD. Safe to say, I closed the chat!0
