In addition, if you accept a new eighteen month contract for HD Sport, you will be unable to cancel (or haggle) after your 50% offer ends in August.
Hi - I wasn't expecting them to continue offering 50% off but they gave me the impression that I would be able to renegociate. Clearly we all know better and if I come running in Aug 18, they will just say tough luck you're still contracted to us for over a year so pay up.
Think I'll call them to cancel the HD contract whilst I can and then reassess my options the month before my August contract end. I think I should then be able to play the system again when my 50% off offer runs out (though I will have a £15/month offer on SD Sport). Incidentally, the people who have been getting 40-60% off offers, are these on your basic viewing package or on EVERYTHING (including sports/movies).0 -

I suppose I could keep cancelling and reinstating multiroom every time they come home for an extended period but then the fees (though I would try and claim any for 'admin') and bill adjustments associated with changing package probably wouldn't mean it's that viable?
I would definitely consider a Now TV box with sports passes when the kids are back from Uni then, you're currently paying £144 a year for something that's only used sporadically and then you've got the cost of Sky Sports to consider if no one else watches it.0 -

Thanks for this. Definitely something I will consider in the future - however will be needing multiroom for the time being especially since the boys actually watch sports on sky go extra (if we have the sub) and whilst I have sky sports on offer at just £15 a month separate passes will probably come to more, as I've just had a look at the prices and even if we're watching just 3 events spread across a month through NOW TV, it will come to this amount or more.
I did cancel the HD offer sub though which means I'm no longer tied into contract which is good. It's up in August - will I need to wait until September when it goes full price again to find offers available on my package or will these appear before the last day of my contract (meaning I'll be able to negotiate before my offer ends)? Incidentally, where do you look to find offers through your sky tv box like the 50-60% off ones people are reporting?
Thanks again!0 -

Unless you're proactive the likelihood is that you won't see any offers when your minimum term is up.
I'd consider phoning or live chat around the end of June or start of July considering the new season starts in August and offers will likely disappear for awhile.
You can access your account through your Sky box is where any offers would appear but it seems permanently stuck on 30% regardless of your status at the moment.0 -

funkygiraffe wrote: »I contacted Sky today since over the boxing day and black friday period I noticed a few really strong offers on movies and entertainment through NOW TV which is obviously owned by Sky. They did my nut slightly since I realised that the full price NOW TV entertainment costs just £9.99 (without offers which often halve this in price) and includes pretty much the best entertainment channels from the original bundle. And this is for 'casual' customers (premise of NOW TV) who give no loyalty or commitment and aren't tied into any contract.
You forgot, no adverts as well. :j
When I got my NOW TV box several years ago, I rang Sky to cancel and they tried to keep my business, but NOW TV was only £5 a month at the time and they just said "we can't match that" and that was that.
I don't even use the NOW TV box anymore, I use a Roku stick now instead.
The only problem with NOW TV - as with all streaming services - is that they use up your bandwidth. Not a problem for me as I live alone, but if you have family in the house and they are all trying to stream and download things at the same time the quality deteriorates and you get time outs.
You also have to press a lot of keys to get to where you want. But that's a minor niggle really.0 -
I cancelled my sky tv about 2 weeks ago - at the time of cancellation they offered a 40% discount, but I decided to go cold turkey. I called to see if the offer is improved and today they offered me 50%.
I am only interested in the basic entertainment package with kids tv and HD - this came to £19pm with 12m contract
From recent experience if I wait a bit longer is the offer likely to improve or are the days of 60-75% discount + account credit now over?0 -
Hi all
I've been offered entertainment package, movies and sports in HD for £30 over a 12 month period - basically everything apart from Kids and Boxset
Also free 2tb SkyQ box if I go for multi room - £12 a month. But not sure about this - I don't want to have to give them the box back at the end of 12 months.
What do you all think?0 -

I pay £25 per month for sky entertainment and all sky sport channels (not HD). Not in contract so can cancel anytime.
Seems as though you have got a good deal. I would try to see if you get out of contract. Try sky chat to see if you get hold of an Indian person. I have done this over the last few years and it always works.
With regs your skyq box, why not keep your existing box or ask sky for an old reconditioned box instead of skyq ?0
