Is there a Freeview equivalent of Sky Q that lets you start a recorded programme on one box and finish on another?
We live on a new build estate so can only use IFNL Broadband and Phone (SeeTheLight, who are awful - £34 a month). Then we get our television package separately through Sky - currently £59 a month, which includes Sky Q, Sports and Movies, although it is due to increase for the last couple of months of the contract.
However, we also pay for Netflix, and recently we've watched very little of Sky so I'm questioning the need for it. Especially when Sky seem nigh on impossible to get hold of currently!
However, we have a TV Bed (a naughty extravagance I know) and it's nice to be able to retire to bed and finish what we're watching. It's out of range of our internet so a dongle didn't work very well, and as it's in the middle of the room I don't want to plug it into an aerial or we get wires trailing across the floor...... I know, I know, first world problems - but is there a FreeView option which would replace Sky Q?0 -

It only works for freeview though, not freesat, but same idea.0 -
Sky are SUCH a pain in that once you cancel - they won't give you a deal for your entire package unless you active it again - thus leaving you open to a mess as you need to cancel again. it's such a tiring system. They invent discounts too. I accepted 60% in order to see what broadband deals I could get. I do that and it's £15pm which Is okay but I don't think it's good enough. So I cancel & now to see if it's the same - I have to !!!!ing re-activate it.0

Hi, I am a few days away from the end of my contract. I gave notice for TV (it will turn off in 30 days time) and the broadband, talk international extra and phone line (it will turn off in 14 days time) as they were only offering a few pounds off the current price. I was getting a big discount on TV already but that's because they contacted me and tried to sign me up even though I was not bothered about having SKY TV. What I want is a discount of the whole package.
How long do you usually need to wait before they call you to try and save you as a customer?0 -
As you have already said your not bothered about the tv element,so I would leave that till nearer the cut off date as for your bb & tele I would go to another provider if you haven't already done so as this would show Sky that you are serious to leave them, because the new provider would notify them of you moving the service to them then leave it for a couple of days then phone the retention team to see what they can offer to keep you as a customer.
I know it's a pain to do,because if Sky do offer you a good package price then you have to cancel the switch.
That's what I did and got tv,fibre, tele with a great offer.
Hope that helps.:)0 -

Thank you thank you - exactly what I was looking for! Looks an ideal product as a replacement (although their SEO can't be too good, as when I searched for Sky Q Freeview and the like it didn't return the Espresso)!!
This means I can cancel the Sky subscription in November (ends 19th Dec.) and mean it - if they don't offer circa 50% off then I'd quite happily replace with a Humax - looks a very nice product, and has the added benefit we'd get Netflix upstairs (normal dongles don't work because of our odd-shaped house!).0 -
My current bill is from 3 Oct – 2 Nov.
I have to give 31 days notice to cancel sky.
When should I do that?
The current deal is £14 per month for Boxsets with Cinema, the next bill jumps up to £43. It is a pity they do this each year.0 -
I got offered 12 months free recording and freeview. Ie I keep the box just bot the channels.
If I took that up because I wasn't happy with the discount would I still be classed as having left and therefore get the after leaving deals?0 -

It's the end of your minimum term you need to know which doesn't tie in with your bill date (approx 2 weeks after?). My bill runs from the 2nd to the following 1st but my end of minimum term is the 14th. You can schedule a cancellation at any time for the end of your minimum term so you don't pay ETC's.0 -
Hi Guys,
I was wondering if you could give some advice on what to do please:
I am not currently on a contract with sky per say- I'm paying around £34.99 for broadband and line rental/ evening and w/end calls.
We have an old Sky box- the black one (with no card inside, so we only get the free channels).
Now, I don't watch Sky myself, so I dont need a particular bundle, however my mum wants access to the indian channels that have recently moved onto sky, as before we were able to get them free- but will now have to opt for the ORIGINAL BUNDLE. I'd like both broadband and TV to be with them preferably.
I have telephoned Sky twice, they have offered me what they say as 67% off.. thats one (BB at 12months) and (TV at 18months).
Both times speaking to retentions team- at then end of last month and then again today.
1st deal was- FREE BB 12MONTHS, £15.00 p/m, LINE RENTAL, £2.00 p/m for EVE & W/END CALLS...ORIGINAL BUNDLE 18 MONTH CONTRACT- (from £22.00 TO £7.43 p/m). TOTAL 24.43 a month, free installation of box and free router.
Called today and the lady offered me 67% off, again one as 12 months and 18 months
but something way more than what the other guy offered I rang initially..
Now, does anyone know if I can ask them about setting me up without the SKy Q box- can I still use my old box?
Has anyone else had better offers at all? and are they able to give me the two packages as a 12month or 18 month, not different..?
I would be grateful for your feedback guys- thanks :j
Also, they cannot take away the old sky box can they? nothing works apart from the normal channels...?0
