Motorcyclist travelling fast on a straight bit of road , the motorcyclist died , the car driver was prosecuted . The headlight of the bike was on , cannot be turned off , but it still happened . Car drivers need to understand that bikes don't manoeuvre as quickly as a car , a bike is not steered the same way . Lessons need to learn't every day by all riders and drivers .
In this post the motorcyclist was annoyed and broke the law .....He did not need to chase after the car driver . Same can be said for the car v pedal cycle thing on here recently .... People are so aggressive on the roads now and that needs to change for all concerned . What goes on on alot of motoring forums reflects this aggressive nature and attitude too.0 -

I would add that car drivers need to understand that the massively thick strengthened A pillars of their cars can hide a surprising amount of the road.
The way the brain works is to fill in that gap with a nice clear bit of road, so you don't even notice the A pillar is there.
They literally "didn't see you".
Possibly that is what happened in the video, and may even have happened to the OP: the road looks clear, they start the manoeuvre, then the bike "appears from nowhere" .I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Regardless of whether or not the motorcyclist was at fault, innocent, speeding, not speeding, carrying kittens, a dog-lover, father, mother or whatever - smashing someone's mirror just shows they're a c*nt - and gives rise to the kind of hatred and judgmental stereotyping of 'bikers' we've seen more than a glimpse of in this thread.
For those of you car drivers who hate 'bikers', please spare a thought for the fact that we're road users too, many of whom try to ride sensibly, safely and legally at all times because we are afraid to die in the same way you are.
For those of you motorcyclists who hate 'cagers', spare a thought for the fact that many of us ride a motorcycle as well; but doing so doesn't make us infallible or invulnerable to mistakes being made; we try to drive legally, safely, and considerately to your two-wheeled needs at all times, because we are afraid we might kill a motorcyclist in the same way you're afraid we might do so.
For those of you incapable of seeing the world through the eyes of another, please at least try sometime.0 -

I daresay had the biker survived he too would've been prosecuted and disqualified for doing 97 m.p.h. on a single-carriageway road.
This is not to try and blame the biker for the driver's actions, but all bikers really should heed this: if there is a vehicle waiting to manoeuvre ahead of you then, unless you are able to make eye contact with the driver, assume he hasn't seen you, slow down and prepare to stop.
Should you have to do this? No.
Should the driver be alert and aware of your approach? Yes (although doing 97 m.p.h. doesn't exactly give the driver a lot of time to see you).
Do you want to die? Over to you...Je suis Charlie.0 -
Hey, no didn't get image of him actually doing it but got an image of him leaving directly afterwards. I wasn't quick enough on my phone camera to snap him doing it.0

True, glad there wasn't a actual collision0

I'm turning right. Road is clear. I make the manoeuvre. Bike comes hurtling round the corner. He has to break very hard to not hit me. I complete turn. He follows me and purposely smashes off my wing mirror.
The near collision will be debated for either side. But the criminal damage afterwards is no debate. I just want to know best way to recover cost for my wing mirror.0 -
No he was approaching on the opposite lane coming towards me. But very fast round a bend and when I was already mid turn.0
-
He was coming from in front of me. I was indicating and had checked my mirrors before turning.
There was a car doing a 3 point turn so no approaching traffic when I started turning right. But he must have nipped past this car at quite some speed on that corner only to nearly go straight into me.0
