having had the same thing happen to me whilst driving a motorcycle , I would say the OP has got off lightly

wonder if the motorcyclist had a cam on his bike , and at this moment in time is filing a police report , for the OP driving without due care and attention

the OP was probably thinking over cracked plaster in his mind , he definatly did not have his radar turned on

Yet while filing a police report, forgets to tell them they knocked off the wing mirror and rode off.

To all those jumping to the bikers defence... Op said the biker appeared from around the corner after she started turning.

Maybe you can explain to us all then how op should make this turn if it's clearly stupid to do so when traffic is clear?

My basis for the following comments is purely on my own experience and observations, I may just be unlucky that there's a disproportionately large number of idiot bikers in my area, so I am certainly not trying to tar all bikers with same brush, I'm sure most are safe and sensible road users (although my Dad and uncle certainly weren't in their day!)

However I've seen a very large proportion of bikers driving with very little concern for their safety or the safety of other road users. Dangerous overtaking, on bends, swerving between traffic, constant speeding must be accelerating it at least 80 on country roads and speeding off into distance. It's no wonder so many have accidents.

So it really does not surprise me in the slightest that the OP encountered a bike going too fast to anticipate the road ahead.

Morons are everywhere though, only the other day a friend witnessed a cyclist going past a parked car with driver inside, accidentally clipped the wing mirror with handlebar, didn't stop. The driver started the car, sped after the cyclist, stopped, got out and punched the cyclist off his bike, before then driving off.

I hope the person that did this to you does face some kind of consequence.

its that kind of attitude that makes people who act that way so dangerous, car driver or motorcyclist.

'Get out of bike's way?' Again thinking there's a completely different set of rules for one motorist than another.

The only other road users that you should feel an obligation to get out of the way of have flashing lights and sirens...they're generally on their way to save lives rather than endanger them.

I dont know whos fault it was but how did you (OP) get a photo, if it was on a mobile phone that is an offence unless you were parked up with the engine off or a passanger took it

One, they probably stopped as soon as it happened then took a photo. You wouldn't just carry on driving after that. Most people have their mobiles ready to hand even if not using them at that moment. Either reached into handbag on passenger seat or take from pocket.

Second, have you missed the fact that another road user acted in an incredibly threatening manner and caused deliberate damage to the OPs car which was witnessed.

Yet how dare they take a picture! I think you've missed the point

OK lets get this straight , the OP was sat in there car on the centre line of the road waiting to rurn right into another road.

after he had started his manoeuvre , a motorcyclist approaching around a bend from the opposite direction became visible.

was the OP looking out of his passenger window when he saw the motorcycle? , if so I would estimate that he would have had plenty of time to complete the manoeuvre , and nothing would have happened.

however if the motorist saw the motorcycle , "that was exceeding the speed limit" via his front windscreen , and then started to cross the road , then I think that was a bad call.

the OP has not stated how close this junction is to the bend , or indeed the speed limit of the road , just comments like " He was obviously going too fast " says who??

also I do not understand the OPs comments "He was obviously going too fast and had to break heavily"

so what did the OP do , start the maneuverer , see an oncoming vehicle and freeze in the pathway? ,

  • Motorcyclists presumably also wearing too tight lycra round the nethers now apparently have the same ''no fault can be theirs'' culture as cyclists, whatever happens however suicidal their speed position or (lack of) style they are blameless, next thing they'll be running for parliament and blaming the last lot or Thatcher for all their own failings there too.

The police should use this to educate drivers and riders. http://www.hoax-slayer.com/motoycle-inside-vw-accident.shtml
